There’s no getting around it – the hiatus sucks. So have a bit of fun voting on your favorite episodes, moments, and tidbits from Season 2 thus far, and let us know what you liked/didn’t like/are looking forward to in the comments!

The final night of the Vampire Diaries Marathon Week is upon us, with Katerina and The Sacrifice left to go. It’s also the last set of questions for our Marathon Week Scavenger Hunt to win a mega Vampire Diaries prize pack. We hope you’ve kept your answers safe, because the entry form will be going up after the end of The Sacrifice on the West Coast.
We’ve got refresher links for people who find November is all a bit of a blur, and the reaction polls ready for those of you who may be seeing these episodes for the first time (or haven’t voted already for some crazy reason).

Flashbacks ahoy this week as we head back in time to uncover some of Katherine’s mysterious past from when she was human. Super-powered she may not have been, but she still had a head for scheming back then. As if that wasn’t enough, Damon and Rose are on a mission in the present day to find out what’s up with that pesky moonstone…
There’s no giveaway this week – sorry guys. We’re hoping to do more giveaways in the future, though, so keep your eyes peeled. This doesn’t mean you should stop tweeting with the #tvduk hashtag, though, as it’s always fun to follow it and see what you’re all saying. Also, @itv2 will be doing non-spoilery live tweeting as usual (we expect a few exclamations of surprise with this episode), so give them a follow, and remember you can find us on @tvdnews.
Tune in to ITV2 at 9pm tonight to catch Katerina, or catch it again at 10pm on ITV2+1. Still need to catch up on last week’s episode? You can watch it on ITV Player, or download it in HQ from iTunes UK.
Also, if you’re still annoyed at ITV2 for cutting the scene from Rose in which Trevor’s head gets chopped off, you want to lodge a complaint (come on, ITV, it was after 9pm!), you can do so here at the ITV website.

Most Vampire Diaries fans know by now that Nina Dobrev has Bulgarian roots. So it should probably come as little surprise to anyone that Nina gave a helping hand in the Bulgarian translations in Katerina, as she reveals in an interview with the Toronto Sun:
“I called my mom, and she and I translated it,” Dobrev said of the Bulgarian dialogue in the episode titled Katerina.
“I think the writers had used an internet translator and it was so funny. All those online translators are never right. So we did it. I translated my own dialogue, but I called my mom just to confirm I was right.
Read more on that, along with dealing with playing Elena and several versions of Katherine on the Toronto Sun website.
Paul Wesley fans should make a note to tune in to (or set their DVRs) the Rachael Ray Show on Thursday, December 2nd (check your local listings for the time), as Paul will be joining Donnie Wahlberg as a guest. Given the culinary themes on this show, we wonder if the Stefan Diet is going to be a topic of discussion.

We’ve had a lot of new actors on TVD these past few weeks but it’s still Nina Dobrev at the heart of the show. Watching her act opposite herself, toss out various accents in scenes that span centuries (she’s Bulgarian, she’s English, she’s an American teen, she’s a croaking partially desiccated vampire!), and bring two very different characters to similar emotional places at the end of the episode — both Katherine and Elena mourn the danger they put their loved ones in — it’s been said before but it bears repeating: someone give this girl a raise, an Emmy, a high five, and a hug. We’re lucky to watch an actress so on top of her game week after week.
