We’ve been trying to blog this for a few days but the website’s been down. Looks like it’s finally back up: Star Magazine has a brief Q&A with Kayla Ewell that reveals who she’s bonded with on the show, her Twilight connections, and her favorite vampire (yeah, he’s a favorite ’round these parts, too).
Thanks to Johanna for pointing this one out: Actor Javier Carrasquillo, who plays Jared (one of Vicki’s stoner friends from last week’s episode), has posted some behind-the-scenes photos on his MySpace page. They are possibly mega-spoilery (though not all that surprising) for this week’s episode, so don’t say we didn’t warn you. Also: Bare ass warning.
And finally, we’d heard rumblings about this last week, but we now have a press release courtesy of SpikeTV: Looks like Paul, Nina, and Ian will be appearing at Spike’s 2009 SCREAM Awards, premiering October 27th at 10 p.m. ET. (The show actually tapes on the 17th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.) If you’ve never watched the SCREAM Awards – it’s basically an awards show you might actually give a crap about, honoring the people’s choice of genre media in all its forms. In other words: You don’t wanna miss Vampire Diaries hitting that stage.
UPDATE: Ken Tucker over at Entertainment Weekly grades 19 Fall TV Shows including The Vampire Diaries. He gives it a B- but no worries – you can grade it, too, so have at it.

It’s Friday, so it’s time for some Vampire Diaries promos and webclips. First up, an extended version of last night’s promo:
UPDATE: The track used in the promo for “Lost Girls” is Rie Sinclair “(Lover) What’s Going On”.
Then we have a webclip featuring the first scene between Damon and Elena after she finds out the Salvatore secret.
Thanks to @comatose925 and Nikki for letting us know the videos were up.

Kayla Ewell will be a guest on That Morning Show tomorrow morning, October 8th. She’ll be talking Vicki and Vampire Diaries, and you can catch the interview between 6-9 a.m. on E! Entertainment Network.
Candice Accola talks Caroline and Damon in PopSugar’s “6 Reasons You Can’t Live Without Vampires” video. Vampire Diaries talk starts at the 2:00 minute mark.
Thanks to Johanna and Only Paul Wesley for pointing out Paul’s feature in Australia’s Girlfriend magazine.
We tweeted this last night, but in case you missed it, via TV Guide’s MegaBuzz: a fan’s Vampire Diaries theory and Julie Plec’s sly spin on the issue.
UPDATE: And via Ask Ausiello: Find out why you shouldn’t miss this week’s episode OR next week’s.

Vampire Diaries Web is about to make a whole lot of you very, very happy: flashback stills from episode six, “Lost Girls.” I’d write more but I am making total flail-y hands over Stefan’s hair and Damon in uniform (called it, Red!) and KATHERINE. I expect to be nigh-on useless for the rest of the evening. There’s a few taster photos below, and see the full set over at VDW. (I expect we’ll have some higher quality versions soon.)
UPDATE: Higher quality images added to the “Lost Girls” album in our gallery.

Thanks to KryptonSite, we have the trailer for next week’s episode, “Family Ties” (below) and also the official synopsis for episode six, “Lost Girls” (which was directed by Marcos Siega and written by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec). This is the episode that a lot of fans have been waiting for. Why? Flashbacks, baby! You can read the synopsis over on the episode index if you want to know a few more spoilery details.
The ‘exotic, exquisite Katerina Graham’ chatted to Stardish Radio earlier this evening, and she proved to be a very cool lady. It’s impossible to summarise the show (it’s an hour long, after all), but it’s full of Vampire Diaries goodness, with a range of topics, including: Katerina’s music career, her taste in fashion and design, auditioning for the Vampire Diaries, Bonnie’s background, changes from the books, and working with everyone on set. You can listen to a recording of the show over on the Stardish Radio website.
Finally, Pop Vox has an interview with Ian Somerhalder, who goes into some more detail about the difficulties of auditioning for Damon:
How did you end up in The Vampire Diaries?
I desperately wanted it. My girlfriend and I were in the desert in Vegas, and I realized I’d missed this meeting. My agent called me back and said, “They need you there at 11 in the morning, having memorized nine pages of the script.” It’s now 9 o’clock at night in Vegas. We got up very early and I drove across the desert while she slept. I taped my pages together; that’s how I worked on the material.

Vampire Diaries Spoilers have posted some stills from episode 6, “Lost Girls”. Update: We have bigger, better quality versions now. They can be found in the gallery in the Lost Girls album.

In episode seven news, Ernest Dickerson (Dexter, Burn Notice) is at the helm directing the episode, and we’ve seen the title “Haunted” pop up in a few places. There’s also a still from it (courtesy of @LilMissX) with Stefan and Damon looking like they’re not at each other’s throats for once.

Elena and Stefan are up for the Hollywood Style People’s Choice Awards hottest Fall couple. Head on over there to cast your vote for them, and you’ll make Nina Dobrev a very happy lady in the process.
Katerina Graham posted a picture of herself from when she auditioned for Bonnie, and Michael Trevino posted a picture of Tyler’s car. Alas, Michael isn’t posing on the hood in the pic, but it’s still a sweet looking car. We can certainly picture Tyler behind the wheel.

We’re aware that sites such as KryptonSite and SpoilerTV blogged about this before the weekend: Episode six (#105) appears to be titled “Lost Girls” (wonder what that’s a play on?), and you can see a HQ promo from Vampire Diaries Show below.

We do so love following the cast and crew on twitter, because they feed their followers all kinds of cool comments and pictures. Sometimes they slip us by, like this ‘another night with the vampires in the forest’ pic that Paul M. Sommers posted on the 4th. Other times, we see them pretty much right off the bat, like this spiffy pic of some extras in 19th century costumes from Marcos Siega, which can mean only one thing: Flashbacks. Waistcoats, please?
On the subject of Twitter, you can now follow Chris Mollere, music supervisor for the Vampire Diaries TV series, at @cmollere. He’s going to be tweeting the music tracks used in the show after the episodes air, so he’s the guy to watch to find that song you loved.
For those who get a kick out of this information as much as we do, ratings for the Sunday night airing of the pilot episode in the USA came to 1.35 million viewers.
In book news, it looks like the Vampire Diaries are really rocking those bestseller lists. They’re at #2, #3 and #6 on the Barnes & Noble teen bestsellers list, and #13, #14 and #23 on the Amazon Teens bestsellers. Thanks @1Sjes and @AprilRoxX for that information!
Finally, if you’re interested in learning some more about myself and Vee along with some of our thoughts on The Vampire Diaries, you can head on over to read an interview with us over on Innsmouth Press that we took part in for their Vampire Diaries week. Be warned, the interview is full of bookish spoilers. And shoes.
