Apologies UK fans! The bank holiday threw me for a loop, and I’ve been thinking it was Sunday. So I’m a bit late in blogging to let you know that throughout this week, ITV2 are showing the second half of season 2, two episodes a night. To catch up with the rest of the season, you need to be tuning in each night to ITV2 at 8pm for two whole hours worth of Vampire Diaries. This run of repeats will end on Saturday, 4th June.

Heat Magazine are really getting into the excitement of the Vampire Diaries and have up a little article selling the TV series to UK audiences, calling it “sexier than Twilight and less icky than True Blood, this is one vampy series you simply MUST watch”. They also have an exclusive video interview with Ian Somerhalder talking about the series, which you can view here. Sadly, there are no embed options, but we’ll be sure to add it if it crops up on YouTube. Thank you to Amy for sending us the links.

Update: Thanks to @TwilighterVN for the YouTube video link.

Kristin over at E! Online has a nice Stefan and Damon teaser for “Children of the Damned”. Highlight/mouseover to see the spoiler:

This week’s The Vampire Diaries reveals one of the biggest secrets of all: What actually happened to make Damon and Stefan hate each other? “We get to see the incident that drove them apart for the first time,” says show runner Julie Plec. Ooh, “the incident”? sounds a little Lostish! Also, we’ll see Dexter’s James Remar for the first time as Papa Salvatore. Let’s just hope he lives by a very different code than Harry Morgan!

And a little more specific:
The incident that tore Damon and Stefan apart involves their mutual love of a certain Elena look-alike vampire. Turns out, Stefan might inadvertently be the reason Katherine was locked up in the tomb, hence Damon’s desire to free her, and his unexplained hatred of his little bro.

Russian cover for the Vampire Diaries: The FuryMany thanks to Tiaria for letting us know about book publications in Russia again. As far as we can tell (with the dubious help of Google Translate), “The Fury” is out now, and Russian fans can order it over on ozon.ru. For everyone else, we have the cover to the right (click it for the larger version in our gallery). Oh, Russia, we love your wacky and unrelated covers. So much. :D

Marijó has emailed to let us know that the Warner Channel in Argentina will be running a Vampire Diaries marathon on Saturday, February 6 and Saturday, February 13 from 4pm. Update: Looks like it’s all over Latin America – thanks, Angie.

The Televixen’s Vampire Diaries podcast (featuring Melissa (The Televixen), Connie from Blast Magazine, Lucia from HeroineTV, and our very own Vee) is up: Let’s Kill All the Awesome Chicks. If you missed the first podcast, you can head over and listen to Operation Suspenders.

Finally, the TwiCon Celebrity Craft Basket we mentioned a few weeks back is open for sign-ups. If you want to contribute to a gift basket for various cast members from the Vampire Diaries, True Blood and Twilight, then mosey on over to Twilight Crafts to find out more and sign up.

Alaric in the Vampire DiariesIt’s the final night of the CW’s Vampire Diaries marathon, with eight episodes down, and just two more to go. Last night saw “Haunted” and “162 Candles” draw in 1.8 million viewers, doing better than an average new episode of Melrose Place. Tonight’s pair of episodes surpass all the preceding episodes on the awesome scale, so here’s to them gaining even more viewers. We’re just sad that danged cliffhanger that won’t be resolved until January 21, 2010.

Here’s the combined episode reaction post for “History Repeating” and “The Turning Point”. You can watch the trailers for the episodes, check out the stills, find out the title of that music track that caught your attention, and then discuss the episode over in the forums (though beware of spoilers!). And don’t forget to vote in the polls to let us know what you thought of the episodes.

Stefan, Elena and Matt in the Vampire DiariesNight four of the CW’s Vampire Diaries marathon begins soon, with two awesome episodes on the night the show normally airs (that means you should all be geared up for your Thursday routine of tuning in). Last night saw an average of 1.35 million viewers for “You’re Undead to Me” and “Lost Girls”, holding their own against the So You Think You Can Dance finale.

Here’s the combined episode reaction post for “Haunted” and “162 Candles”. You can watch the trailers for the episodes, check out the stills, find out the title of that music track that caught your attention, and then discuss the episode over in the forums (though beware of spoilers!). Jeremy and Vicki in the Vampire DiariesNight three of the CW’s Vampire Diaries marathon begins soon, and we hope you’re all planning on tuning in. Last night saw an average of 1.3 million viewers for “Friday Night Bites” and “Family Ties”. Both of tonight’s episodes rank up there as pretty popular as secrets are revealed, shocking things happen, and we get to see Katherine for the first time in all her superior glory in a lush-looking flashback.

Here’s the combined episode reaction post for “You’re Undead to Me” and (you’ll be pleased to know you don’t have to wait a whole week for this one) “Lost Girls”. You can watch the trailers for the episodes, check out the stills, find out the title of that music track that caught your attention, and then discuss the episode over in the forums (though beware of spoilers!). And don’t forget to vote in the polls to let us know what you thought of the episodes.

Caroline in the Vampire DiariesNight two of the CW’s Vampire Diaries marathon, and we hope everyone is back for more. Last night’s viewing figures are in, with the “Pilot” episode attracting 1.6 million viewers and “Night of the Comet” holding at 1.4 million viewers. Can we beat those figures tonight?

Anyhow, here’s the combined episode reaction post for “Friday Night Bites” (one of Julie Plec’s favourites, we hear) and “Family Ties” (we miss Caroline’s scarves, we really do). You can watch the trailers for the episodes, check out the stills, find out the title of that music track that caught your attention, and then discuss the episode over in the forums (though beware of spoilers!). And don’t forget to vote in the polls to let us know what you thought of the episodes.
