EW’s Michael Ausiello sat down for a chat with the Vampire Diaries gang who were at Comic Con on Saturday to discuss all kinds of season 2 tidbits. The first interview is with Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder and Matt Davis, and the second is with Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, Steven R. McQueen and Michael Trevino. No embed, so you need to head on over to the EW article to see
Matt’s purple pants them.
UPDATE: For those of you confused about the conflicting Duke spoilers, Julie has kindly cleared it up for us. Elena will be accompanying Alaric and Damon on the trip to Duke.
And there’s an interview with Matt Davis up on KTLA in which Jenna and Isobel are discussed, along with Alaric’s friendship with Damon and whether he would be tempted by becoming a vampire.
E!’s Watch with Kristin cornered Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Steven R. McQueen, Matt Davis, and Kevin Williamson on the Comic Con press line and topics range from happy endings (and the lack thereof), the fun in tricking the Vampire Diaries audience, and the weirdness of bodyguards to crime-fighting teams and new characters, and more.
You can watch Steven’s interview below (we love his overall take on Jeremy in Season 2: “You know, he’s got so many loose screws that I think he’s an entity unto himself”) and watch the rest of the interviews over on E!Online.
Don’t worry, we’re still adding all links to the big Comic Con post, but TV.com caught up with the Vampire Diaries folk (all of ‘em! together!) just before their WB booth signing and talked the Vampire Diaries books, anti-heroes, villains, and hints at what’s in store for Season 2.
Also, TV.com NOW Awards update (sorry, there’s been so much info) – in addition to Ian snagging Best New Bad Guy, Vampire Diaries won Editor’s Choice for Best Show and Paul won Sexiest Vampire. (HA! at his reaction.)
KEEP REFRESHING FOR NEW LINKS BEING ADDED TO THIS POST.
The big day is here – Vampire Diaries at Comic Con. Rather than spamming you all to death, we’ll be updating this post throughout the day with anything we can find about today’s goings-on in San Diego. The TVD WB booth signing is at 2:30pm with the panel following at 4:15. Keep refreshing this post for new stuff and we’ll try our best to keep up! You can follow along live on @tvdnews – the lovely Jen is at the Con. (If you see her, wish her a happy birthday!)
For those of us who weren’t lucky enough to be at the channel, we were treated to a live stream via uStream. Many thanks to Dread Central for setting that up. Please note that this footage does not contain the season 2 premiere footage.
If you have links you think we should add, leave ‘em in the comments! Every little bit helps.
Thanks to Ian Somerhalder tweeting the promotional code, U.S. fans can get a sneak peek at the Vampire Diaries DVD gag reel. Find out how.

For those of you (lucky, lucky devils) attending Comic Con, Warner Bros. have added signing sessions to their schedule. Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Michael Trevino, Matt Davis, Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec will be at the WB booth at 2:30 – 3:15pm on Saturday, July 24. We think it bears mentioning that the Vampire Diaries panel in Ballroom 20 starts at 4:15pm, which doesn’t give you much wiggle room after the signing ends for getting to the panel. Keep that in mind as you plan your day, and be ready to use your ninja skills if needs be. ;)
Comic Con International’s full programming schedule has been announced and we’ve combed through to find the obvious and not-so-obvious Vampire Diaries-related topics and cast/crew appearances. Vampire Diaries will be representing big time this year and we’re sure there will be other tidbits to announce as we get closer to the big event, July 22-25. (Possible booth signings, for example.) If you want to relive last year’s Vampire Diaries-at-Comic Con experience, you can check out comprehensive coverage in our Wiki.
Vampire-Diaries.net will be represented by Jen of Nina Dobrev Fan at the Con. She’s a long-time friend of the site and TVD event ninja. (Seriously, I think she’s been at them all – first Comic Con, Hot Topic Cast Tour, PaleyFest…) She’ll be tweeting live on the @tvdnews account as things are going down. And she will most likely be wearing fabulous shoes while doing it.
Cast/crew members, past and present, who will be at the Con include Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Michael Trevino, Matt Davis, Steven R. McQueen, Malese Jow, Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, Marcos Siega, Pamela Shaw, and Gabrielle Stanton. Malese tweeted that she would be there with Koni Konfidential, a comic series currently being developed for TV with her as lead. UPDATED: Info added!
UPDATE2: Unfortunately, it looks like the Piranha 3D panel has been removed from the Con schedule, so we’re not entire sure at this point if Mr. McQueen will be there representing. We’ll update to let you guys know.
Seat42f has Warner Bros.’ official Comic Con 2010 press release and the Vampire Diaries has been confirmed for Saturday, July 24th at 4:15 p.m. in Ballroom 20. If you’ve been to Comic Con International, you know that Ballroom 20 is a considerable upgrade from last year’s room.
Also – nice one, @CW_VampDiaries, for getting a mention in the release!
From the WB’s press release (read the entire thing at Seat42f):
4:15–5:00 p.m. The Vampire Diaries Screening and Q&A – The cast and creative team behind The Vampire Diaries return to take a bite out of Comic-Con! Series stars Nina Dobrev (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Paul Wesley (Roll Bounce), Ian Somerhalder (Lost), Michael Trevino (Cane) and Matt Davis (Blue Crush) join executive producers/writers Kevin Williamson (Scream) and Julie Plec (Kyle XY) to show fans a fang-tastic season one highlight reel, followed by a Q&A session. This edgy, romantic drama quickly became the number one series on The CW in its first season. The Vampire Diaries director/co-executive producer Marcos Siega (Dexter) will moderate the panel. From Bonanza Productions Inc., Outerbanks Entertainment and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, The Vampire Diaries will return for its second season this fall, airing Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, and The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season will be released on Blu-ray™ and DVD August 31. Become a fan of The Vampire Diaries on Facebook at www.facebook.com/thevampirediaries and follow the show on Twitter at www.twitter.com/CW_VampDiaries. Ballroom 20
Conception Allen over at Blast Magazine has been able to tell us the Vampire Diaries cast members who’ll be putting in an appearance at this year’s Comic Con on July 24. In addition to Kevin Williamson, Julie Plec, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder (all of whom appeared at the event last year), Michael Trevino and Matt Davis will also be in attendance. And for those who haven’t already heard, Marcos Siega will be moderating the panel. For those of you who are lucky enough to be going this year, we reckon you should be in for a real treat with this panel.
Many thanks to @xoElvire for pointing us at these rather amusing photo booth-style pictures of the Vampire Diaries cast attending the Young Hollywood Awards. We tweeted about them earlier, and now we’ve got them up in the gallery. There are a few for you below to have a good grin at, and the rest (all 32 pics) can be found in our gallery.
There are a lot of video clips floating about of the Vampire Diaries cast at the Young Hollywood Awards on Thursday night (Hollywood Life has an entire series, it seems), so we’ll try to keep it to the unique/heavy-hitters.
