Latina Magazine caught up with Michael Trevino to talk about the final two episodes of Season 2, As I Lay Dying (the finale) and especially tomorrow night’s penultimate episode, The Sun Also Rises. I’m pretty sure every single cast interview over the next 24 hours is going to be anxiety-inducing. Sigh. Thanks to Michael Trevino Online for the heads up! Also: SPOILER WARNING. Better safe than sorry.
Describe tomorrow night’s episode in just three words?
Oh man. {Laughs}. In three words? Sad. Game changer. In my honest opinion, I feel like more happens in tomorrow’s episode than in the finale – and I’m not saying that because I’m not in the finale! Once the fans see the episode, I’d like to see what people’s opinion is about which one was a big game changer – was it episode 21 or episode 22? And in my opinion I think it’s 21.Is it a game changer in particular for Tyler?
Yes. It’s definitely a game changer within the relationship of him and Caroline.

As we mentioned last night, there was a press screening of The Last Day (tonight’s new episode of The Vampire Diaries) yesterday at the CW, along with a Q&A with Julie Plec, Michael Trevino, Steven R. McQueen, Kat Graham, Joseph Morgan, and Daniel Gillies. We expect to see more reviews popping up, but here are a few articles to prepare you for the gasp-worthy hour we’re in for tonight. We’ll add to this post as more reviews come in and we’ll be compiling info that’s not specific to The Last Day in another post.

6 Reasons why you should watch Vampire Diaries this week:
2. Elena will be faced with her mortality: With the full moon ritual upon them, Stefan (Paul Wesley) decides to show Elena what she’ll miss if she dies. However, she’ll make a declaration so unexpected that, executive producer Julie Plec says, it will set the series apart from Twilight once and for all.
“[Damon's] got issues,” Plec said. “This thing he’s done to Elena, it’s sort of lesson learned. It’s that, you can love someone with all of the power in your soul, but you still have to remember who they are and what they want. We sort of talked about it as a coma patient on life support, like, ‘What were their instructions…and do you keep them on life support because you can’t say good-bye or do you give them their wish?’ That’s the difference right now between Stefan and Damon: Stefan sees that in love you have to take the other person’s wishes into consideration, and Damon, because he’s been so screwed in the head by love and it’s his Achilles heel, ["The Last Day"] episode is about him learning that lesson.”
Michael Trevino (who returns to Vampire Diaries with a new attitude this Thursday at 8/7c) was also on hand to chat with the press, and gave a tiny tease that may have actually revealed Tyler’s fate. “It’s like Tyler went through army boot camp,” he said of his slightly more subdued character. “I wanted to switch it up, but only subtly.”
In addition to Tyler’s return, we’ll also see Damon make a decision that changes the dynamic of the central love triangle significantly. We’ve been sworn to secrecy, so we’ll just say that a gasp rang through the room full of journalists and cast members when we saw the scene.
We’ll also say that we’ve never loved Elena more than we do by the time this episode draws to its cliffhanger ending. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this episode, so tune in to The CW at 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

Advance Review: The Vampire Diaries “The Last Day”
One MORE thing: There’s more than one “I-did-not-see-that-coming” moment tonight. That’s probably to be expected from TVD, but just be warned. What you think will happen, is probably not what is going to happen. I credit the Vampire Diaries writing team with keeping it real and having the ability to surprise us constantly.

Vampire Support are teaming up with Michael Trevino on a new project to help save the wolves and raise money for Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in Southern California.
Vampire Support are currently selling “Team Tyler” t-shirts, and will also be selling “Team Tyler” wristbands in a few weeks. All proceeds from these sales will be going to Wolf Mountain.
It’s also possible to adopt a wolf at the sanctuary, so if that’s something that interests you, Vampire Support also have more information on that.

This weekend is the long-awaited EyeCon Vampire Diaries Convention, March 25-27, when fans the world (!!!) over will converge on Atlanta, Georgia for two and a half days of TVD goodness. I (Vee) and our very own episode recapper/author Crissy Calhoun will be in attendance, holding down the fort at the ECW Press/Smart Pop Books booth in the EyeCon Vendors’ Room. We will be selling/signing our books: Love You To Death: The Unofficial Companion to The Vampire Diaries by Crissy Calhoun (ECW Press) and A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls: Your Favorite Authors on The Vampire Diaries, edited by Red & myself (Smart Pop Books). We will also have lots of other titles from ECW and Smart Pop! Crissy and I would love to meet you, talk TVD with you (I’m especially obsessed with hearing your sacrifice theories at the moment, the more crazycakes, the better!), and sign your books (if you already have them, please bring them with you!). If you don’t come to our booth and talk to us, we’ll have to pass the time singing “Wuthering Heights” and doing an interpretive dance. No one wants that, so stop by and distract us with stunning conversation!
If you caught our interview on The VRO this past Wednesday (missed it? listen here!), you know we have some cool plans in store. In addition to Vampire-Diaries.net and Vampire Support teaming up to cover the big event (wi-fi/phone networks willing!) via our blogs and Twitter (make sure you follow @tvdnews and @VampireSupport), we’re also collaborating on what we’ve dubbed a “Fandom Photo Booth.” We want to showcase YOU, the fans in attendance. Check out Chloe’s video explaining the details:
We really hope you’ll stop by the “photo booth” and have a blast. We’re excited about TVD fans bringing their personalities and originality to this and can’t wait to feature the final results on the blog and in the Gallery.
As you may have heard by now, Vampire Support has landed an exclusive video interview with Ian Somerhalder about all things Ian Somerhalder Foundation – but that’s not the only TVD cast member Ms. Chloe will be chatting with this weekend. Michael Trevino has been awesome enough to grant a video interview as well and we’re going to be gathering fan questions for him. Stay tuned tomorrow for a post all about it and start getting creative!

Chicago’s own Show Patrol has great videos of Michael Trevino and Candice Accola from the press room at yesterday’s Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo. (You can watch videos of the panel itself in our post from last night.) Michael speculates about where Tyler is now and what his future may be in Mystic Falls and Candice talks about perfecting her vamp face and the challenges of Atlanta’s seasonal weather (and lots more!)
Watch ShowPatrol’s press room video with Michael Trevino:
And Geek Girls also catches up with Michael to talk Tyler, challenges, and whether he considers himself a geek (thanks for the heads up, @Snowballx!):
