The Vampire Diaries TV Series - E!Online interview with Joseph Morgan + Hollywood Life chats with Michaela McManus & Lisa TuckerE!Online has more from the very busy Joseph Morgan and he’s not confirming and not denying a lot of what will go down in tonight’s new episode of The Vampire Diaries. He also talks a bit about Bonnie, Jenna, and Klaus’s (not confirmed, not denied) transformation. Oh, and about that Stefan stuff from last week

What can you tease about the “interest” Klaus will take in Stefan [Paul Wesley]?
[Laughs.] I’ll tell you what. I’ve been reprimanded for teasing too much in that area already. I’m going to have to begrudgingly apologize and not go any further in this sort of pit that I’ve already gone. I stand by what I said: He will take a special interest.

[Now we feel mildly guilty for latching on to that tidbit last week. Sorry, Joseph!] READ THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW WITH JOSEPH AT E!ONLINE.

WetPaint had their own chat with Joseph, touching on the hype leading up to the Klaus casting:

When did you realize how big of a phenomenon TVD was?
Well, the first degree of that was when I first read for the role. I knew I had a callback with the creators of the show, just to talk about it. And I thought, “Okay, I’m just going to do a little bit of research now, I’m going to look up on the Internet whether Klaus was in the books of The Vampire Diaries,” because I knew there were books before [the television show]. And I just typed in “Klaus Vampire Diaries,” and there were pages and pages and pages of “Who’s going to play Klaus?” It was just unbelievable to me, the volume of stuff just on this one character. Suddenly I started to feel like, “Oh, this is kind of a big deal!”

And StarryMag also interviewed Mr. Morgan and he has a message for TVD fans:

Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A. Thank you, really. I said before from the beginning when I joined Twitter and I started asking questions of the fans and people were just so responsive and really helped me with where I needed to go with Klaus, and what kind of things people responded to, and what people found frightening about those things. It really helped me build the character and put it together. I just want to say thanks and keep watching guys because the best is yet to come.

Hollywood Life has a few teases from Vampire Diaries guest stars Michael McManus (Jules) and Lisa Tucker (Greta Martin). First up, Michael McManus has this to say about Jules:

“I don’t think Jules is evil, but I can see why people think that,” she admits. “I just feel very protective of her. I think everything she’s done comes from a place of wanting to safeguard Tyler [Michael Trevino.] You have to put yourself in her shoes. She’s been through a lot too.

And Lisa Tucker talks about working with Joseph Morgan:

“He’s the sweetest guy ever, but he plays such a jerk,” Lisa says — although I think “jerk” might be a bit of an understatement here. “Joseph is fantastic. And his accident his fantastic. He’s just so focused, and you can see that even when the cameras are down, he’s still in character. It’s great to see how dedicated he is, because Klaus is such a vital part of the end of the season.”

Candice Accola as Caroline ForbesTaking a break from Caroline’s own love triangle with Matt and Tyler, Candice Accola chatted with MTV’s Hollywood Crush about who she thinks Elena should choose between the Salvatore brothers. Ms Accola speaks most wisely on the subject.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I’m excited to see what happens. I don’t like to choose sides in that…in those things because I feel like there’s so much story that’s untold yet.”

Candice cited some episodes to show that while it may seem like we’ve been besties with these characters forever, there’s still a lot of development to come, and it wouldn’t make sense to pick a side until all those layers really unfold.

Entertainment Weekly’s John Stamos got some teasers from Katerina Graham about the Vampire Diaries‘ own ‘Scooby Gang’ and the Bonnie/Jeremy relationship.

“It’s really great to see all the stories intertwining,” she says. “Right now, it’s sort of very similar to the Scooby-Doo gang: Everyone is working together to protect Elena [Nina Dobrev] and protect each other.”

That will include, she says, working with her new love Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) for the “greater good, and really getting together to be together.” “You’ll be able to see a lot of heartbreak between them both. Those characters are both character really go through it before the end of the season.”

Michaela McManus chatted with the TV Chick about being involved with the Vampire Diaries, Jules, Tyler and werewolves.

And obviously seeing as you are not a werewolf yourself (laughs), how do you relate to Jules?
That’s a good question, because obviously who knows what that feels like? (laughs) But the core of Jules is that she’s living with almost a handicap in a way. It’s this secret that she harbors and she has to deal with the consequences that this curse creates and her friend was killed (Mason) and so I think the core of her is that she wants to avenge her friend’s death and she’s very loyal. And she’s deeply wounded. And I think that’s where her anger comes from — her hurt and this desire for revenge. It comes from a very real place.

Gino Anthony Pesi (CSI: New York, NCIS) is set to visit Mystic Falls in the role of a warlock by the name of Maddox (scroll to the end of the article). We have no clue whose side he’s supposed to be on yet (Elijah or Klaus? Or could there be an outside chance he’s some Bennett Backup?), but it will be fun finding out.

And finally, Ian tells MTV’s Hollywood Crush what his dream season finale would involve:

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesHere it is – another Vampire Diaries interview round-up, with more to come! This post includes interviews with Katerina Graham, Michael Trevino, Ian Somerhalder, Michaela McManus, and Rachael Leigh Cook (wife of TVD guest star Daniel Gillies). Click the linked headers to check ’em all out!

Global Grind: Katerina Graham casts a spell on The Vampire Diaries and the music industry

You play a witch named Bonnie Bennett on the CW’s “The Vampire Diaries.” Tell us about working on the show and how you came to be a part of it.
I auditioned. All the actors on the show, we came in, auditioned and got the role and it’s been great. It’s been surreal, most of the projects I’ve done as an actress have been already developed. It’s my first time jumping on something from the beginning and being a part of it when it first starts to now. We’re in our second season and we come back after our winter hiatus on the (January) 27th, which is really cool. It’s been great, it’s been interesting, I never thought I would be playing a witch on TV. I’ve never played any character even remotely close to it. It’s been a really great experience, all around.

HollywoodLife: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Katerina Graham Weighs In! Who’s Best For Bonnie: Jeremy, Luka Or Damon? Exclusive!

“I’m glad [the fans] are supportive of Bonnie and Jeremy, because I am,” Kat says. “It’s a great team, and they’re good for each other. They have that comfort and that familiarity that I haven’t seen the other characters have so much. They grew up together and there’s a sweetness to it. There’s a loving softness to their relationship.”

LA TV Insider Examiner: Michael Trevino’s Tyler tries to defy on The Vampire Diaries

“I love meeting the fans,” he gushed, telling us about eating breakfast and dinner with fans and fellow castmembers alike at the Australian convention in which he took a part last year.

“They just really love to talk about the characters and the story lines,” he pointed out. “This was just after season one, and my story line-wise, there wasn’t a lot going on with Tyler [yet]. But this [time]…there’s going to be a lot more stuff to talk about!”

MTV Hollywood Crush: Michaela McManus On ‘Vampire Diaries’ Return: ‘It Gets More Exciting’

As for butting heads with hottie vamp Damon (Ian Somerhalder), she admitted that right now she doesn’t see any romance in the future for the two. “They’re fighting for their own individual cause, and they’re obviously clashing, so it just gets bigger,” she said. “It grows and grows and it’s going to be interesting to see where it explodes. I mean, right now the feud is really between Damon and Jules, but more people start to get involved. It’s ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ so it’s really up in the air, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it went there [romantically]. So it’ll be interesting to see how their relationship grows.”

“He’s a super evil vampire,” Cook said of husband [Daniel] Gillies. “Don’t trust him. And don’t take candy from guys in vans!”

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesWhen The Vampire Diaries returns tonight, we can expect more from werewolf newcomer Jules. Guest star Michaela McManus (with input from Julie Plec) gives TV Guide‘s Robyn Ross a few clues as to what to expect in the next few episodes.

Of course, Damon has no intention of letting Jules hang around. McManus says the two will absolutely butt heads, while executive producer Julie Plec adds that the “vampire/werewolf conflict is about to go from simmer to a boil.” “[Jules’] altercation with Damon is sticking with her and she’s not too happy. Now that she’s aware of Tyler’s true identity, she’s going to start filling his ear with some things,” Plec says.

Kecks’s Exclusives confirms that Michaela McManus will be sticking around as Jules for a few episodes yet (before she heads off to Hawaii Five-0 to play a district attorney), and Michaela has been chatting to Entertainment Weekly about her character, Damon, Tyler and werewolves:

Asked if she’s gotten to film a transformation scene yet, she says she’s shot a partial one: “Coming out of it is what I filmed. When they turn, they transform into this beast, and the morning after, it’s discovering what happened last night. It’s kind of like blacking out when they turn. They’re not necessarily conscious of what they’re doing.” For the first time in her career, McManus is doing stunt work and she’s loving it. “Jules gets pretty physical, and I think people will be impressed with her skills,” she says. “[The show] is doing a lot more action. It’s something to tune in for.”

‘Tis the season for ‘Best of 2010’ lists, and the Vampire Diaries has made its way on to quite a few of them. Check out the list below (in no particular order):

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesIt’s that time of year where media outlets begin rounding up their “best of” lists and Vampire Diaries is already receiving much-deserved props. E!Online places Vampire Diaries at #3 on its list of Top 10 TV Dramas of 2010 (yep, above True Blood and Dexter), saying:

Improbably excellent, The Vampire Diaries is addictive and involving television that deserves to be taken more seriously by critics everywhere.

And BuddyTV places Vampire Diaries at #5 on its Top 10 of ’10: Best Shows of the Year:

The Vampire Diaries started off strong in 2009, but 2010 saw the best of the storylines so far. We got Elena’s twisted genealogy, Caroline transformation into the town’s bitchiest vampire and Tyler’s sudden relevance as a werewolf. We also met Katherine. You can’t go wrong with Katherine.

Amen! And speaking of BuddyTV, the guys of Vampire Diaries made an impressive showing in their TV’s 100 Sexiest Men of 2010 list. Here’s how they placed: Taylor Kinney as Mason Lockwood (#59), Michael Trevino as Tyler Lockwood (#48), Paul Wesley as Stefan Salvatore (#18), and Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore at #1. Well done!

Finally – we’ll be meeting her character Jules for the first time tonight, but Vampire Diaries writer Mike Daniels (who just so happened to write tonight’s episode, By the Light of the Moon) tweeted this morning to announce that guest star Michaela McManus has joined Twitter: @MichaelaMcM. Give her a warm welcome! (We’re reserving judgment on whether her character deserves a warm welcome. For now. This is Mystic Falls, you understand.)
