Since we posted the first webisode video last night, more information has been revealed thanks to Tubefilter news. It seems that A Darker Truth is a four-episode prequel web series which will lead us up to (and through, looking at the way the dates stack up) the premiere of the Vampire Diaries TV series on September 10th. It’s certainly nice to have something new to tide us over these last 15 painful days of waiting. ;)
The web series is being produced by Retrofit Films, and was written by staff co-producer Sean Reycraft. The cast of the TV series won’t be appearing in it themselves (though the web series will be using clips and stills from its TV series parent), with new characters played by web-only actors being used instead (we don’t have information about who these actors yet). Episodes are set to be released every Tuesday.
We’ve set up A Darker Truth page on the site where we’ll be adding the episodes once they’ve been released, along with links to videos subtitled into other languages. If you know of a subtitled version in a language we haven’t listed on the page, please contact us so we can add the link.
In completely unrelated news, the Vampire Diaries set was invaded by a bunch of vicious and bloodthirsty animals today. Here’s some photographic evidence of Ian Somerhalder being mauled by one of them courtesy of the folks over at MediaBlvd. It’s all very tragic.
