Some odds and ends to gather ’round. First up, thanks to Marissa for letting us know that The Vampire Diaries is scheduled to begin airing on the Go! Channel in Australia this October. Still no exact start date, but better than the general “end of 2009″ we’d been hearing. As soon as we have a date, we’ll let you know.
Many thanks to Caroline for these scans of Paul and Ian talking Stefan and Damon in the new issue of US Weekly (you guys can stop asking us about whether Paul is single now, thaaaaank you) and Ian in the Fall Preview 2009 issue of TV Guide.

And finally, CW Source has posted their Comic Con interview with Nina. She talks about the usual topics here, but also provides a teaser for the second episode, “Night of the Comet.”

We’ve got some episode stills from episode three (production code #102) of the Vampire Diaries TV series, ‘Friday Night Bites’. As the title implies, it’s a very football-focused episode, with a lot of Stefan in a football shirt (and both Vee and I agree that our favourite number is ’7′, so Stefan being ’17′ kind of tickles us). We’ll be adding our spoilery observations to the Friday Night Bites spoiler zone later on.

TV Guide Magazine has posted some images from their Fall Preview issue (which should be on the stands now) in their gallery, including one of Nina, Paul and Ian by photographer Kurt Iswarienko.

You’ll have to excuse us if we’re incoherent for the next hour or so. Waistcoats! ;)
UPDATE: And now we have a video which features some (brief) snippets with Paul and Nina and behind-the-scenes footage of the photo shoot. You can see the full Fall preview video with all the featured shows here.

Many thanks to Giochan for sending us this scan of NYLON Magazine‘s article with Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley. It’s a light-hearted and amusing article, mostly with quotes from Nina, and mostly on the subject of whether or not Paul might actually be a vampire…
“I am still unsure about whether Paul is or isn’t a vampire [Nina] says, shooting him a wary glance in a Brooklyn photo studio. “Obviously, there’s the teeth…”

And, because we’ve not had much to post about Steven R. McQueen while he’s been working on the Vampire Diaries, we’re posting this behind-the-scenes video of a photoshoot for Teen Vogue which features Steven (among others). We figure it counts as he does say the words ‘Vampire Diaries’. ;)

Quick reminder that Paul Wesley will be on the NY PIX Morning News (on NYC CW affiliate Channel 11) tomorrow (Monday) morning at 7:45 a.m. ET. Watch their blog for photos/video or, if you’re in NYC, watch on TV.
Also, thanks to nysiren for the heads up that a photo of Paul and Nina is featured in the September issue of NYLON, with Anna Paquin on the cover. It’s their TV issue.
As for the CW Fall 2009 Preview Special, it featured the TVD extended preview, which was nice to see on a television versus the laptop. If you stuck around to watch the CW’s Daytime EMMY Red Carpet special, you caught a video message from Ian Somerhalder within the first 20 minutes. He introduced a clip from The Vampire Diaries pilot (Stefan and Damon in Stefan’s room), with Zach Roerig standing behind him. Hopefully that’ll pop up online at some point.
We have a feeling the next 10 days are going to be pretty non-stop with the promo/publicity. Should be fun.

Gathering up some stray bits here (two of which we threw out on Twitter earlier, so sorry for the redundancy):
Paul Wesley will be on the NY PIX Morning News (on NYC CW affiliate Channel 11) this Monday, August 31st, at 7:45 a.m. Looks like they keep a blog, and post up things quickly, so keep an eye out for video and photos of Mr. Wesley talking about the awesomesauce that is Stefan and Vampire Diaries.
IESB has a comprehensive rundown of Nina Dobrev’s comments at the TCA panel in Pasadena, some of which we’ve seen before and some we have not:
Q: How has the show affected your life?
Nina: The show hasn’t aired yet, and we’re in Georgia, in a very small town. At first, I was a little skeptical and scared to be moving again. I had just moved to L.A., so I was like, “Oh, I have to get up and move my life again.” But, I got there, and there’s something about going to work, getting your things done, going home and not really having that much to do, and just sitting at home in your sweats and watching a movie. I love that.
And finally, Deadbolt has an article: 5 Ways The Vampire Diaries May Take a Bite Out of Twilight. Not sure we buy “The Vancouver Factor” as a reason (with apologies to Vancouver), but there are some interesting points raised throughout:
With so much time in between Twilight films, The Vampire Diaries could fill the love triangle void that Twilight Saga fans will be missing once New Moon leaves theatres. After all, nothing says love like two vampires squaring off to the death over a human girl. Oh, the irony. But remember, there was also a love triangle in Buffy the Vampire Slayer between Angel, Buffy, and Spike, which proved to be more successful than anyone could have imagined.

We have ten more stills from episode two of the Vampire Diaries, ‘Night of the Comet’, for your viewing pleasure (the others are in the gallery). For those of you wanting to see more Stefan and Damon together on screen (*cough* Vee *cough*), some of these should make you very happy. ;)
(Fair warning: some of these images might be considered spoilery.)

VampireDiariesWeb has posted up more outtakes from the Entertainment Weekly Comic Con photoshoot by Michael Muller. No Ian Somerhalder in this batch, but we’ll see some more before too long, no doubt. There are sixteen photos in total with only two featured here. Be sure to check out the rest in the gallery (thanks to VDW for supplying us with the pics!).

Now, if we could get some Greystone Mansion photos of Kayla Ewell, Zach Roerig and Michael Trevino (we’re starting to wonder if they even exist), we’d be very happy bunnies here at Vampire-Diaries.net. Just sayin’.

The folks at VampireDiariesWeb have passed on some unwatermarked versions of the Entertainment Weekly outtakes for our gallery (thanks, guys!). You’ve seen most of them already, but there are a couple more that we haven’t posted yet, which you can see below. Where were these when we wanted some fun images for the caption contest, eh? ;) (And on that subject, don’t forget to vote for your favourite caption before voting closes on Sunday night!)

A magic fairy sent us some super high quality images from the Love Sucks shoot, and we’ve got an excellent close-up of Damon’s ring. If you look at his ring in the Love Sucks ad-campaign, it appears to have an ‘S’ on it, just like Stefan’s. We’d been assuming they both had ‘S’ for Salvatore, but this picture reveals that Damon’s ring actually has a ‘D’ on it, indicating that Stefan’s ‘S’ is for his own name rather than their surname. Nifty, huh?

READ ON FOR SPOILERS ABOUT ELENA AND BONNIE’S BACKGROUNDS…

Thanks to Vampire Diaries Show for these: outtakes from Entertainment Weekly’s Comic Con portrait session with Nina, Paul, and Ian. Photographs by Michael Muller. (Click the photos to be taken to watermarked HQ versions on VD-S.)

As I mentioned on Twitter, we finally have a clear shot of Ian’s tattoo, which has been quite the topic. And yes, as suspected, it’s Latin.
