Friday Night Bites is a weekly round-up for various tidbits of show and cast/crew news not quite big enough to warrant a blog post, not strictly Vampire Diaries-related, or somehow just fell through the cracks. Please insert theme song by Explosions in the Sky here and enjoy.
- Nina Dobrev tweeted out this totally adorable pic from Steven R. McQueen’s birthday celebration.
- Paul Wesley was recently offered the role of Count Paris in a new version of Romeo and Juliet. What do you think, guys, can he find some time in his shooting schedule for a little Shakespeare?

- This video about the making of Honey 2 is in German, but definitely worth watching.
- Joseph Morgan has been teasing TVD fans on twitter (@_JosephMorgan) with pictures of amusingly-named wines. So far we’ve got “Red Splash” and “Wolf”.

CTV’s eTalk has a segment featuring sitdowns with Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Zach Roerig, and Sara Canning about the recent Hot Topic cast tour stop in Atlanta. The cast discusses how the event was their first real taste of the Vampire Diaries’ success, and Nina and Sara wave their “team” flags when it comes to Stefan and Damon. (There’s also a brief segment with Nina near the end of the video about health and yoga.) Watch the interviews over at CTV.
You know, speaking of Canada… Why is it that this fine country has loaned us Nina and Sara, yet no cast appearances yet? Who do Canadian fans have to talk to?
Speaking of Ms. Canning, she will be following in the footsteps of Michael Trevino and Zach Roerig with a guest stint on The VRO. No set date yet, but you can post questions on The VRO’s board, @ them to @TheVRO on Twitter, or email them to Amy at amymccracken [at] thevro [dot] com.
And finally, Inside Halton has an interview with recent guest star Dillon Casey (Noah) in which he discusses his stint on The Vampire Diaries.
“Vampire Diaries is a very successful show so the whole cast and crew are very confident and know what they want. It’s never easy coming on to a show halfway in as a guest star because you feel like everybody’s waiting for you to do something incredible to show why you got cast — but they were all nice people and made me feel very comfortable, so that feeling didn’t last long.”

The Vampire Diaries will start the new year with another hot guest star, Dillon Casey (recently seen in Being Erica and showing off his assets in MVP: The Secret Lives of Hockey Wives). According to executive producer Julie Plec, he’ll be playing a character named Noah who becomes obsessed with Elena, much to Stefan’s concern. Looks like the path to true love is going to be as rocky as ever for Elena and Stefan.
Turkish fans will be delighted to learn that the Vampire Diaries is airing in Turkey now. You can catch it on Fridays at 21:30 on the Mymax channel. Thanks to @Ozge_Lydia for the information.
Production on the Vampire Diaries in Atlanta is on hold now for the holidays, and will resume in January. As we understand it, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder will be doing some promotional work for the show before they take a proper break, so hopefully we’ll get news on that to post soon. We’d like to thank the cast and crew for all their hard work, dedication and obvious love for this show. The fact you completely won over a couple of hardcore book fanatics like myself and Vee speaks volumes. ;) We wish you all a very happy holiday, and good luck for the new year.
Finally, it’s Ian Somerhalder’s birthday tomorrow (December 8th). Vampire Diaries Online have set up a group card for fans to sign, so head on ever there to add your birthday messages for him.
