Happy Friday the 13th! Comic-Con International has kicked into high gear in San Diego so here’s a one-stop post for what The Vampire Diaries is up to this year. Once again, Saturday (July 14th) is TVD Day in Ballroom 20. And in extra-special fun times news, turns out that Mr. Kevin Williamson himself will be moderating the TVD panel. (Are we allowed to say “thank goodness?” because thank goodness.) Oh, and The Hollywood Reporter had the exclusive first look at the special TVD Comic-Con poster (pictured).
But first: Friday (today!) Matt Davis is repping his new CW show Cult with a panel and pilot screening at 11:30am in Room 6BCF and a Warner Bros. booth signing from 1:15-2pm. (Warner Bros. is observing the Con’s ticket lottery system again this year, MORE DETAILS HERE.) Support your TVD alum!
Now for the main info…

MODERATED by Kevin Williamson.
And because Kevin Williamson obviously has a lot of free time on his hands, he will also be promoting his new FOX show The Following (watch the creepy trailer!) later on Saturday. Another TVD alum, Marcos Siega, directed the pilot and will join Mr. Williamson, along with stars Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, for some panel and booth signing fun. They will be signing at the WB booth 12:00–12:45pm and the panel is at 4pm in Room 6BCF. Show Kevin and Marcos some TVD fan love.
If you’re in San Diego this weekend, HAVE FUN. Sadly, we were not able to make it down there this year, but we’ll be lurking on Twitter, RTing the good stuff, and throwing it all together on the blog this weekend.

If you missed the live stream of the Vampire Diaries panel at PaleyFest on Saturday night, don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with all kinds of press interviews and panel recaps, along with plenty of great photos. Remember, the panel itself will be available on HuluPlus starting on March 15th. SPOILERS ARE EVERYWHERE. Warning, UK fans: There were a lot of allusions to things that have happened up through All My Children (EP315). If you don’t want any spoilers at all, you may want to step away from the computer until 1912 (EP316) airs on Thursday night. The PaleyFest audience was treated to an advanced screening of this Thursday’s new episode, so pretty much every link in our round up below has some kind of spoiler, so read at your own risk!

Don’t forget, the PaleyFest Vampire Diaries panel will be streaming live TONIGHT at 11:05 p.m. Eastern! You can use this livestream page to watch the panel as it unfolds. The panel guests will be Julie Plec, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola, Matt Davis, and Kat Graham. TV Guide Magazine Editor-in-Chief Debra Birnbaum will be moderating the panel.
UPDATE According to the Paley Center Twitter, the panel is actually starting at 11:05pm EST. We think there may be an episode screening in advance of the panel, which accounts for the conflicting times. Sorry about any confusion! If you’re looking for twitter coverage, our friends at @IHeartTVD will be tweeting live from the event.
UPDATE 2: If you missed the live panel, it will be available on HuluPlus on March 15th.

On January 20th, Julie Plec took part in the ongoing event/panel series hosted by Nerdist: the Nerdist Writer’s Panel. Couldn’t make the event in Los Angeles? Well, you can now listen to the entire panel over at Nerdist. Julie was joined by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles developer Josh Friedman, and Desperate Housewives’ Jeff Greenstein.
Julie discusses how she became involved in developing The Vampire Diaries, adapting the themes of L.J. Smith’s book series to the small screen, how she and Kevin Williamson complement each other, and lots, lots more. It’s a great listen so slap on your headphones and enjoy.
