Julie Plec was a guest on the Plus One Per Diem radio show this morning, co-hosted by filmmaker Kevin Smith and Jen Schwalbach (they happen to be married to each other). It was a super fun and candid chat, covering Vampire Diaries (Julie revealed that Rebecca Sonnenshine has joined the writing team), Kyle XY, and a brilliant discussion of how fans are watching TV nowadays and the struggle of studios and networks to adapt. (Seriously, the interview is a MUST LISTEN for this discussion alone.) And Jason “Jay” Mewes (he’s a big fan of the show) also joined the discussion to talk Originals and Ripper!Stefan.
LISTEN TO THE FULL SHOW AT PLUS ONE PER DIEM (scroll down) or DOWNLOAD VIA iTUNES. Julie shows up about an hour into the episode, FYI.

Yes, it’s official: Daniel Gillies – currently humiliating vampires, making deals with doppelgängers, and patronizing musicians as Elijah on The Vampire Diaries – has ventured into the world of Twitter: @mrholymonster. He lists himself as a cake stylist and a bounty hunter, and – as fellow History major Heroine TV pointed out – he drops the word “phalanx” in interviews like most people say “grocery store.” (Alala!) Anyway – you should give him a follow, but be prepared to take sides in any further Twitter jousts with Matt Davis. And perhaps someone should let him know that pie trumps cake. (I’m sorry, but it does.)
Ian Somerhalder chats with Cambio Connect about auditioning, people causing problems for Stefan and Damon, hot werewolves, blood, and Klaus. Thanks to I Heart Vampire Diaries for the heads up!
PopSugar caught up with Candice Accola on the 2011 Art of Elysium Gala red carpet.
And, finally, a new episode of The Televixen‘s Vampire Diaries podcast is up, this time covering Rose – “Chuck Norris Wears Klaus Pyjamas.”

Following on the heels of Zap2It‘s ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Klaus casting: 9 guys we think could bring down Mystic Falls, BuddyTV has posted their 15 casting suggestions: Who Should Play Klaus on ‘The Vampire Diaries’? We don’t know about you guys, but while a few suggestions definitely pique our interest (um, Hal Ozsan? Yes, please – we don’t care who he plays), not a single suggestion has made us sit back and go, “Whoa. YEAH.” Granted, we’re not eager to attach too many expectations on the character’s appearance or presence because who knows what the writers have in mind? It’s wait and see at this point, though the speculation is certainly fun.

The latest Salvatore Council podcast is up, and this week it features an interview with our very own Vee. She talks all about editing A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls, touching on the subjects of many of the essays and how we came to be involved with the project. There’s also conversation about the book series and its relationship to the TV series, fandom, favourite scenes and characters from the TV series, highlights from season 1, and what Vee is looking forward to in season 2. Watch out for the revelation of a shocking and heinous conspiracy towards the end. I’m on to you guys, don’t think I’m not ready for when you choose to pounce. ;)

Vampire Diaries podcast Bite On This has an excellent interview with Chris Mollere, TVD’s music supervisor. Mollere sheds light on his job (you may be surprised to learn he isn’t just sitting around and listening to music all day), how music is selected for the show, and tells some great stories about how certain songs lined up with now-iconic scenes. Vampire-Diaries.net was also fortunate to speak with Mr. Mollere (just last night, actually) and we’ll be posting our own interview next week. In the meantime, here are some cool tidbits he dropped in both interviews:
- The official Vampire Diaries soundtrack will be released October 12th on EMI/Virgin. The soundtrack will feature selections from Season 1 and Season 2.
- He couldn’t say too much about the final tracklisting, but the special TVD Mix of “Bloodstream” by Stateless – unique to the show – will be on the soundtrack.
- He couldn’t drop any hints about artists featured in the Season 2 premiere because he’s pulling together the music for it now. “We’ve got a lot of stuff to answer. I don’t know if it’s going to be the most song-driven episode we’ve had.”
LISTEN TO THE BITE ON THIS INTERVIEW WITH CHRIS MOLLERE. And keep an eye on the blog for our own interview.

Have you been missing the entertaining and insightful Vampire Diaries podcast featuring our very own Vee, along with The Televixen, Blast Magazine’s Connie, Lucia from Heroine TV, and From My Side of the Moon’s Lee? Yeah. Me too. But fear not, because they’re back! The Televixen has posted up their epic season 1 finale podcast, I Guess the B!tch Got the Message (title inspired by a Vampire-Diaries.net forum member). Vee would also like to apologise for her cold in that podcast. She really wasn’t well, and I’m personally impressed she remembers any of it. ;)
It’s not over for season 1 podcasts yet, either. There’s going to be a season 1 retrospective podcast over the summer, and your help is needed! The Televixen would like you to share your favourite moments from season 1, be they episodes, scenes or even fan events. Submissions need to be in by August 15th, and you can find details on where to send them over on The Televixens blog while you listen to the podcast. ;)
