E!Online’s Watch with Kristin has unrolled the first category in their annual Tater Top Awards, celebrating fan favorites of the 2010-2011 television season: Best Drama. And guess what’s on the list? Yep, The Vampire Diaries.
This year’s nominees list was assembled based on fan nominations along with a smidge of editorial discretion resulting in a list of 10 shows: Showtime’s Dexter, HBO’s Game of Thrones, Fox’s House, AMC’s Mad Men, FX’s Justified, CW’s Nikita, CW’s Smallville, CW’s The Vampire Diaries and HBO’s True Blood.

So here’s some cool news: Vampire Diaries swept every category it was nominated for in Entertainment Weekly‘s Season Finale Awards. For those keeping count, they were nominated in 11 categories and they won every single one of them. (Yes, including Single Weakest Twist and the special Your Penultimate Episode Was Better Than Your Finale. Weird. award.) And as for Single Most Clever Twist, which garnered TVD two nominations, it was the return of Vicki and Anna that won out.

As we posted a few days ago, Entertainment Weekly is holding their second annual Season Finale Awards to determine the best of the best of this season’s finales and congrats! You guys managed to get Vampire Diaries nominated in 11 categories (out of 20), so well done. Now here comes the voting part! Head over to EW.com to vote for (or not vote for) TVD in the following (remember, this is specific to As I Lay Dying, the Season 2 finale):
- Best Death: Jeremy
- Best Romantic Cliffhanger: Elena, Damon & Stefan

There’s been so much speculation about what exactly is going to happen in this episode that we’ve driven ourselves slightly bonkers trying to decide which scenarios are most likely. Though it will all turn out to be for naught in the end, because (as last week’s episode taught us) Kevin and Julie like nothing more than to throw in the most unexpected twists to keep us all on our toes. Whatever happens, we’re almost sick with nerves and anticipation for what tonight will bring. Tissues and smelling salts at the ready, guys… we may need them.
