You love his recaps – now check out Price Peterson‘s TV.com interview with new cast member Phoebe Tonkin on her character’s place on the show, what it was like moving from The Secret Circle to The Vampire Diaries, and more. On her character Hayley:
“She’s a tomboy. She lost her parents when she was younger, so she sort of grew up running around with these packs of werewolves. She’s a free spirit, she’s kind of ballsy, she stands up to people a lot, I think just because she’s had to take care of herself for so long. Yeah, so, she’s strong. But in the sense that she’s a good person. I think she has priorities of her own, but I don’t think she’s going to be manipulative like Faye—Faye would’ve done whatever it took to get what she wanted. But Hayley definitely has some secrets and some information that she’s looking for, which is kind of more or less what brings her to Mystic Falls. She’s trying to find something out.”

It’s no secret in Mystic Falls that Matt Donovan has it rough, and it’s not so easy for Zach Roerig, either. Playing the last holdout for humanity with no supernatural aids to survival is a daunting task on The Vampire Diaries, but the actor is enjoying the challenge. He spoke with TV.com’s Price Peterson about his work this season, answering questions about Matt’s mortality, worldview, and living situation. Zach also shared some insight into playing highly emotional scenes, something he’s been called upon to do a lot of lately.
He hasn’t typically had the same amount of screen time as some of the other characters, but a lot of his scenes this season have been really emotional. Is that something that kind of comes easy for you? Can you just turn it on?
I’ve worked with girls who can literally just look away from you and then turn back around crying, and I was like, “Holy…” How do they do it? I mean it’s not like that for me, but you know, working on a television show in its third season, whether I’m working all the time on screen with these actors or not, we’ve all become very rooted here in Atlanta together and we’re all pretty close at the end of the day. So when you’re that connected with a person in a scene and staying in the moment, I think it just makes it much easier to get to those emotional levels.
For more from Zach Roerig (including an answer to the long-standing question of whether or not Matt Donovan sleeps at the Grill!), READ THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW AT TV.COM.

Yes, hello! I’m Price, I make photorecaps of contemporary classic TV shows about sexy abominations and the things that make them cry (sexily). It’s an absolute honor to have been asked to rap with y’all about your favorite show and mine. That’s why I wore this cool outfit! Out of respect. (Also it’s laundry day.)
Truth time: My original top three favorite moments of Season 3 all took place in the Mystic Grill break room, but it turned out they only happened in my mind? (Related: Do you guys like mashed potatoes?) So keeping in mind that I was forced to pick REAL things (as well as the fact that I’m gonna try and avoid repeating too many of the previously chosen things), here are my favorite three moments of TVD Season the Third:
SPOILERS! CONTINUE READING PRICE PETERSON’S TOP 3 MOMENTS OF VAMPIRE DIARIES SEASON 3 (SO FAR).

Following last week’s super-fun interview with Julie Plec, TV.com‘s Price Peterson chats with Nina Dobrev about mapping out her shifts between Elena and Katherine, the emotional toll of being an actor on The Vampire Diaries (hint: life in Mystic Falls is kinda rough, y’know?), what Elena really wants in life, Degrassi, and the somewhat sad reality of those Teen Choice Awards surfboards. And as Mr. Peterson himself tweeted, “Also: It turns out Nina Dobrev is MUCH funnier than Elena.”
I’m a little harsh on Elena in my recaps. For the most part she’s pretty self-assured, but then she goes and makes some pretty questionable decisions sometimes. Do you ever read the script and go, like, “Seriously, Elena?”
Yeah, I do. I’m very much an audience member as well as a cast member. I watch and read the show very critically and sometimes Elena does—I mean she’s a strong woman and she’s very courageous—but sometimes she makes some very impulsive decisions. Ultimately she’s making those decisions for a reason. And I know and trust that the writers have an ultimate path that they want her to go through, a journey that they want her to experience. So there’s a reason behind every little line and detail.

TV.com‘s Price Peterson – he of the hilarious Vampire Diaries recaps and captioned photos – has what we think might be the most entertaining interview with Vampire Diaries Executive Producer Julie Plec we’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. Julie gives some hints on Season 3, identifies the two major show moments where she realized what she wanted The Vampire Diaries to be, fan favorites, killing characters, the school issue, Katherine as villain and vixen, accidental homo-eroticism, and The Secret Circle.
So national authorities haven’t yet noticed the town’s death rate?
We always talk about the “FBI Episode” when the FBI shows up in town and is like, ‘Um, you do realize that you have a higher death rate than all of Northern California?’ But look, I think that the timeline of the show is very specific. There’s a lot that’s going on under the noses of the authority figures. And there’s an element to that that’s both ridiculous and fun. I remember that Buffy episode when the students finally, like five seasons in, gave her the award for being the class protector. And what they said was, “It might seem like we don’t notice these things, but there’s some pretty weird stuff that happens in this town!” And I remember thinking, “It’s Season 5!” But yeah, it’s a fine line.
