XXPreviously on The Originals, things got a lot more complicated. We got a big dose of mythology and story in Sinners and Saints (EP105), so there’s a lot of new information to keep track of. Now’s your chance to refresh your memories of last week’s episode before tuning in tomorrow night for some Fruit of the Poisoned Tree (EP106).

And it all comes together. In Sinners and Saints, The Originals performs a sleight of hand, and it turns out Davina’s back story is everyone’s back story. The revelations crammed into this single episode have thrown everything wide open and added considerable depth to every character, every relationship, every choice that has been made thus far. Nothing and no one goes untouched by the Harvest. Do you have faith?
The Originals In Review: Sinners and Saints (EP105) – Make Them Pay
By Heather Vee, Vampire-Diaries.Net

On this week’s episode of The Originals: Everybody in the past died! “Sinners and Saints” was basically the TV version of somebody kicking over a cobblestone and pointing at all the dead potato bugs, because holy moly was the French Quarter a grim place eight months ago.
The Originals “Sinners and Saints” Review: Scary Stories to Tell in the Bar
By Price Peterson,

The worst case scenario when The Originals was announced was that it would be like The Vampire Diaries’ worst impulses. As embodied by the Originals’ place in the story, those impulses were overbaked mythology used to create artificial drama, instead of building from characterization. Ideally, with the new series, the actors and the characters of the Originals would be freed to be the subjects and prove themselves worthy of a series.

Phoebe TonkinYou love his recaps – now check out Price Peterson‘s interview with new cast member Phoebe Tonkin on her character’s place on the show, what it was like moving from The Secret Circle to The Vampire Diaries, and more. On her character Hayley:

“She’s a tomboy. She lost her parents when she was younger, so she sort of grew up running around with these packs of werewolves. She’s a free spirit, she’s kind of ballsy, she stands up to people a lot, I think just because she’s had to take care of herself for so long. Yeah, so, she’s strong. But in the sense that she’s a good person. I think she has priorities of her own, but I don’t think she’s going to be manipulative like Faye—Faye would’ve done whatever it took to get what she wanted. But Hayley definitely has some secrets and some information that she’s looking for, which is kind of more or less what brings her to Mystic Falls. She’s trying to find something out.”

You love Price Peterson’s photo recaps, so check out this really fun video interview with Candice Accola, presented in two parts over at In the first video, Candice talks about Caroline’s humanity and the particular challenges of the one-liner.

In the second video, Candice talks more about other movies and other projects, but comes right back to Caroline. We agree with Price: the lady is charming!

XX Previously on The Vampire Diaries, family drama was at an all-time high…which is saying something for Mystic Falls! There were witches at work, Originals at the bar and girls in caves playing with matches. Just a regular Thursday night, right? We’ve got an all new episode coming up tomorrow (1912 EP316), so now is the time to catch up on All My Children (EP315).

XXIt’s no secret in Mystic Falls that Matt Donovan has it rough, and it’s not so easy for Zach Roerig, either. Playing the last holdout for humanity with no supernatural aids to survival is a daunting task on The Vampire Diaries, but the actor is enjoying the challenge. He spoke with’s Price Peterson about his work this season, answering questions about Matt’s mortality, worldview, and living situation. Zach also shared some insight into playing highly emotional scenes, something he’s been called upon to do a lot of lately.

He hasn’t typically had the same amount of screen time as some of the other characters, but a lot of his scenes this season have been really emotional. Is that something that kind of comes easy for you? Can you just turn it on?

I’ve worked with girls who can literally just look away from you and then turn back around crying, and I was like, “Holy…” How do they do it? I mean it’s not like that for me, but you know, working on a television show in its third season, whether I’m working all the time on screen with these actors or not, we’ve all become very rooted here in Atlanta together and we’re all pretty close at the end of the day. So when you’re that connected with a person in a scene and staying in the moment, I think it just makes it much easier to get to those emotional levels.

For more from Zach Roerig (including an answer to the long-standing question of whether or not Matt Donovan sleeps at the Grill!), READ THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW AT TV.COM.

Top 3 Moments of Vampire Diaries Season 3 (So Far): Price Peterson of TV.comIf you’re anything like us, you live for the frenzy of Vampire Diaries recaps that emerges every Thursday night/Friday after the show airs. We decided it would be fun to ask some of our favorite Vampire Diaries recappers to share their top three moments of Season 3 so far – oh, and we were right! It is fun.

This is it! The very last Top 3 Moments post of this hiatus. We hope our recappers made it more bearable for you. Sending us into Thursday’s brand new episode: the (in)famous Price Peterson of If you’re not familiar with Price’s hilarious (and insightful!) TVD photo recaps, then you’re probably lost on roughly half of this fandom’s inside jokes. Get caught up over at

Check out previous Top 3 Moments: Thomas C. Galvin, Dianne Sylvan, Erin Frazee, Jessica Rae, the ThinkHero team, Emma Fraser, Tina & Kara of TV Goodness, Lucia of Heroine TV, and SB of Off-Color TV.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the recappers who contributed a guest post for Top 3 Moments. We had a blast and hope you did, too.

And don’t forget to vote in the Mid-Season Finale Poll: Your 3 Favorite Episodes of Season 3 (So Far).

Yes, hello! I’m Price, I make photorecaps of contemporary classic TV shows about sexy abominations and the things that make them cry (sexily). It’s an absolute honor to have been asked to rap with y’all about your favorite show and mine. That’s why I wore this cool outfit! Out of respect. (Also it’s laundry day.)

Truth time: My original top three favorite moments of Season 3 all took place in the Mystic Grill break room, but it turned out they only happened in my mind? (Related: Do you guys like mashed potatoes?) So keeping in mind that I was forced to pick REAL things (as well as the fact that I’m gonna try and avoid repeating too many of the previously chosen things), here are my favorite three moments of TVD Season the Third:

Category: The Vampire Diaries TV Interview with Nina Dobrev: Elena's Life Goals, Crying & SurfboardsFollowing last week’s super-fun interview with Julie Plec,‘s Price Peterson chats with Nina Dobrev about mapping out her shifts between Elena and Katherine, the emotional toll of being an actor on The Vampire Diaries (hint: life in Mystic Falls is kinda rough, y’know?), what Elena really wants in life, Degrassi, and the somewhat sad reality of those Teen Choice Awards surfboards. And as Mr. Peterson himself tweeted, “Also: It turns out Nina Dobrev is MUCH funnier than Elena.”

I’m a little harsh on Elena in my recaps. For the most part she’s pretty self-assured, but then she goes and makes some pretty questionable decisions sometimes. Do you ever read the script and go, like, “Seriously, Elena?”

Yeah, I do. I’m very much an audience member as well as a cast member. I watch and read the show very critically and sometimes Elena does—I mean she’s a strong woman and she’s very courageous—but sometimes she makes some very impulsive decisions. Ultimately she’s making those decisions for a reason. And I know and trust that the writers have an ultimate path that they want her to go through, a journey that they want her to experience. So there’s a reason behind every little line and detail.

READ THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW AT TV.COM. And if you missed Price Peterson’s photo recap of The Birthday, go remedy that right now.
