The lovely (and hopefully feeling better!) Nina Dobrev will be on KTLA Morning News this Thursday (tomorrow!), May 5th at 8:45am PT. Thanks to @cadlymack for the heads up! Don’t live in Los Angeles? No worries: You can catch the interview on the KTLA Morning News live stream as it airs. Just head over to KTLA.com in the morning and click the Morning News banner.
And thanks to everyone who gave us the heads up on Twitter a few days ago that Nina will also be putting in an appearance at Extra at The Grove on Thursday at 1pm PT. In case you missed the show this past Saturday, Joseph Morgan and Vampire Diaries were at #1 on MTV’s 10 on Top, featuring input on Joseph and Klaus from Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Candice Accola. Joseph discusses the hype surrounding Klaus, his dimples, and fan support. Thanks to Nina Dobrev Network for the video! Smartphone users can watch it here.
SPOILER WARNING: Do not read these articles if you haven’t seen The Last Day (EP220) yet! They contain comments from Julie Plec on the events of tonight’s episode, via Zap2It, TV Guide and TV Line. Everything beyond this point is going under a cut. UPDATE: You can also read a finale preview at AOL TV Squad and more Q&A quotes from Julie at FutonCritic.
More interviews with Joseph Morgan and one in particular really made us sit up straight in our chair and say “Wow” outloud. HitFix‘s Daniel Fienberg chats with Morgan about the usual – his inspirations for Klaus, being a fan of the vampire genre, starting out in film (actually, the early career stuff is really interesting and definitely worth reading) – and then he drops this little nugget of information, which is the first time we’ve ever heard anything along these lines in relation to the show…
HitFix: Just as a last question: Gimme a little tease on what we can expect from Klaus this week and in the weeks to come…
Joseph Morgan: OK. People are going to die. People we love will die. And let me tell you this, which I don’t think I’ve said before: Klaus is going to take a special interest in Stefan Salvatore. That’s something that’s definitely going to happen. I’m not talking about a romantic interest, mind you, although it has been hinted that there will be a gay character at some point in Mystic Falls and I think there should be. But that’s not the kind of interest I’m talking about here. But there’s going to definitely be something… happening… between these two characters.
Yeah, so… Thaaaaaaat can’t be good. READ THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW AT HITFIX.
And Red Eye Chicago’s Curt Wagner has a more playful Q&A with Mr. Morgan and they even touch on Klaus’s possible “softer side”:
Will we see a softer side to Klaus, or does he even have one?
Let me put it this way to you: We’re going to see a more tender side of him. And I’m just going to leave it at that.
And we’ll see that yet this season?
Absolutely we will, but probably not in the way you expect. [Laughs.]
Joseph Morgan has been busy this week – and especially today. Following up the Zap2It interview from earlier, we have a few more interviews and it’s sort of amazing these are all refreshingly different! Lots of good stuff so be sure to check them all out, as there are TONS of topics covered, from Klaus to Elijah to this crazy sacrifice ritual. He also has plenty of things to say about his approach to playing a villain, Klaus’ dual nature, who he’d like to cast as the Original Family, and even the music he listens to for inspiration.
You’ve also tweeted something about Klaus’ first victim. Can you tease when we’ll see him take a life? Tonight, maybe?
Let me say this: You’ll get some idea of what he’s capable of in tonight’s episode, but I have to put this out there: The episode that I’m most looking forward to seeing and I’m most looking forward to people seeing is next week’s episode [when the actual sacrifice ritual goes down – Vee note: The Sun Also Rises (EP221)]. I’m going into the studio to do ADR for it tomorrow evening. That’s the one that was a sort of epic undertaking. If I did what I hope I did, what I think I did with the episode, then people are really gonna regard Klaus as the biggest villain ever to grace Mystic Falls.
What makes a good arch-villain?
I think the key is not to be too intense, and not to play too generically evil. I felt like it was clear from the beginning that these guys, the Originals, were all but invincible, all but indestructible. Nothing would be a threat to them. Klaus definitely has a short fuse [so if you upset him, he will become violent]. I think a good villain absolutely should have a playful side and a fun side, and you know, there’s nothing more kind of sinister than someone kind of enjoying something, or reveling in something that is kind of evil. And I really felt that he should be sort of happy. One of the things I kept saying is that it should be kind of terrifying to be in the room with this guy, because you don’t know what he’s going to do, kiss you or kill you.
The fans are asking: Is Klaus “in love” with Katherine?
In all honesty, I think he was never “in love” with Katherine in the way we think of love. When we meet Katherine in the flashback, Elijah said she reminds him of someone. She’s a doppelganger, let’s not forget, of the original Petrova. So Klaus’ plan, when he meets Katherine, is always to sacrifice her. There was never a love attachment, but there was always a fascination with her. I think of it like a cat batting a mouse between its paws. Part of it was probably sexual, part of it was emotional, and the rest was his actual appetite.
With all the death and Original and Tyler talk coming out of yesterday’s Vampire Diaries press Q&A, we were wondering if Kat Graham and Steven R. McQueen had to say about Season 2 and what these last few episodes hold for Bonnie Bennett and Jeremy Gilbert. Steven discusses the vulnerable position Jeremy is in with being a human surrounded by vampires, witches, and werewolves, while Kat talks about how happy she’s been with Bonnie’s development this season.
“They gave [Bonnie] such a vulnerable perspective with everything, and had her show her weaknesses and show her strength, and I’m really happy at the way she’s turned out,” Kat says. “[We] got to see some of her family this season, and a relationship… everything I could have dreamed for Bonnie happened this season. So I am so excited to just move forward and see what they have. Even just watching it, just as an audience member watching an episode whether I’m in it or not, there were so many incredible moments for all of the characters, that I feel completely safe with them.”
And then there’s Bonnie’s new man, Jeremy. Yes, I know it’s hard to remember that there are a few guys in town who are actually still human. Too bad Jeremy is pretty much surrounded by the supernatural.
“He’s screwed,” laughs Steven R. McQueen. “He knows, he’s aware of everything around him, and he’s trying to do everything he can to protect them, but he’s just on a different level of strength and there’s not much he can do. He will constantly keep moving forward to try to protect everyone he loves. But he can only take it so far.”

And MTV Hollywood Crush sat down with Vampire Diaries guest star Dawn Olivieri to discuss the recent events in Mystic Falls involving Andie and Damon…and if Elena is jealous?
So far, Damon’s lady friend, local newscaster Andie Star, seems to have ruffled few of Elena’s feathers, but that won’t always be the case will it? (I’m sure you Damon-Elena shippers are hoping that’s a big fat NO!). Well, we checked in with Andie’s real-life doppelganger, actress Dawn Olivieri, to get the scoop (or what she would tell us, at least…)
