The October 13th issue of TV Guide Magazine has a great Q&A with Paul Wesley and Joseph Morgan in which they discuss how Joseph won the role of Klaus, the Stefan and Klaus dynamic, what lies in store for the vampire duo, and lots more. And, as you can see, a new Season 3 promo photo to boot. The issue is on stands now so be sure to pick up a copy! Huge thanks to Denise for the scan. Jean Bentley with AOL TV braved an interview with Paul Wesley to discuss that most dangerous of creatures: Ripper Stefan! From the sound of things, the actor is really enjoying his bloody new role:
Cast and crew on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ are notoriously tight-lipped, and rightfully so, since each episode of the series contains more twists than a water slide at Six Flags. But through the cagey responses and deflecting jokes during our interview, Wesley was so certain about one answer that he didn’t even let us finish the question. When asked if he preferred playing Good Stefan or Ripper Stefan, we couldn’t even complete the thought before he responded.
“Ripper Stefan. Huh? What was the question? Yeah. Look, when it’s raining for a really long time, I want sunshine — actually, I always want sunshine. Let me give you a different analogy. When it’s really hot, sometimes I would like some snow. But if I’m in a blizzard, I would like some sun. Right now I’m really enjoying Ripper Stefan.”
Paul wasn’t the only one who had thoughts to share about Ripper Stefan and what he’ll mean for the show. Nina Dobrev also had some things to say about how Elena is handling the change.
“She shifts into a gear where she’s playing investigator as well, tracking clues and trying to find out where he is and what he’s been doing so that she can save him,” star Nina Dobrev told AOL TV during a break in filming. “She thinks that he’s in trouble, that he needs to be saved, so she’s trying to save him.”
We’ve got our first glimpse of the promised 1920s flashback, as well as many glimpses of Stefan and Klaus drinking, in a new set of stills released from this season’s third episode, The End of the Affair. Take a gander below at Stefan in a retro tux – you’re welcome – and then head over to KSite TV for the rest of the images.

And we’re back! Our favorite show has returned with a killer episode (pun intended, sweet peas) that jumps ahead two months from the finale to a Mystic Falls that’s trying its darnedest to be a normal, boring human town. But moving on from the past proves to be impossible — and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
TV Guide‘s Robyn Ross chats with Paul Wesley and Julie Plec about Stefan’s Road to Ripperdom: the slippery slope of being Klaus’s minion and going so far into the pit that there may be no climbing out. Stefan’s letting things go – and that includes Elena.
As Stefan travels further towards destruction we’ll continue to see different sides of him. At first, Stefan reluctantly follows through with Klaus’ demands while secretly plotting against him so that he can protect his loved ones. Then, Plec says, “There’s the Stefan who just can’t stop once he gets started … and then ultimately there’s going to be the Stefan that doesn’t care anymore and that’s the most dangerous Stefan. When that happens that will take the most to recover from.”

Entertainment Weekly counts down their 40 most anticipated shows of the fall and, of course, The Vampire Diaries is included. In addition to a new still from The Hybrid featuring Elena and Damon (see more), they also have this tease from Paul Wesley on Stefan returning to his old lifestyle:
It’s not until the third episode that brooding Stefan becomes a guilt-free ripper, which Wesley embraces.
”Because Stefan doesn’t have the sarcasm, people assume he’s less of a threat. There’s a lot of hidden darkness people will be pleased and surprised to see,” he says, adding with a laugh, ”I’m kind of sick of always doing the right thing.”
They also touch on Tyler and Caroline, Jeremy and the ghost situation, and more.
