The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesCTV’s eTalk has a segment featuring sitdowns with Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Zach Roerig, and Sara Canning about the recent Hot Topic cast tour stop in Atlanta. The cast discusses how the event was their first real taste of the Vampire Diaries’ success, and Nina and Sara wave their “team” flags when it comes to Stefan and Damon. (There’s also a brief segment with Nina near the end of the video about health and yoga.) Watch the interviews over at CTV.

You know, speaking of Canada… Why is it that this fine country has loaned us Nina and Sara, yet no cast appearances yet? Who do Canadian fans have to talk to?

Speaking of Ms. Canning, she will be following in the footsteps of Michael Trevino and Zach Roerig with a guest stint on The VRO. No set date yet, but you can post questions on The VRO’s board, @ them to @TheVRO on Twitter, or email them to Amy at amymccracken [at] thevro [dot] com.

And finally, Inside Halton has an interview with recent guest star Dillon Casey (Noah) in which he discusses his stint on The Vampire Diaries.

“Vampire Diaries is a very successful show so the whole cast and crew are very confident and know what they want. It’s never easy coming on to a show halfway in as a guest star because you feel like everybody’s waiting for you to do something incredible to show why you got cast — but they were all nice people and made me feel very comfortable, so that feeling didn’t last long.”

We’ll get the bad news out of the way with first. Yes, the Vampire Diaries is going on hiatus again. Thursday night’s “Fool Me Once” will be the last episode until March 25, when the series will return with the next new episode, after which it should be running straight through the final eight episodes without a break. For those wondering why the long break, blame those pesky Olympics. Understandably the CW doesn’t want to be pitching brand new episodes against the Olympics because the ratings will suffer. The extended hiatus also allows the CW to take advantage of airing the final episodes during the May sweeps period.

Now on to the good stuff with a bunch of videos. First up, JSYK have a tour video from the set in Atlanta, taking you through the topsy-turvy world that becomes various Mystic Falls locations on our screens.

Speaking of set visits, CW Star’s Annie spoke to Sara Canning on her visit to the set of the Vampire Diaries, and you can watch the video below:

Finally, thanks to Denise for sending us a link to the PIX news feature on the recent Hot Topic cast tour stop in New Jersey (final stop in LA this weekend – is everyone ready for it?):

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesTV Guide has a chat with Ian Somerhalder about what’s on everyone’s mind: the issue of Damon, Elena, and Katherine, and what happens when/if Katherine comes back into the picture.

Damon isn’t always upbeat, though. Somerhalder teased an upcoming episode of the CW series (Thursdays at 8/7c) in which he’s anguished. “I had to shoot a scene where Damon was not happy at all. … and my whole day was shot because I was miserable. Normally I walk around set laughing and joking, pulling pranks on people and just screwing with everyone. [Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan] is always so intense, because he’s got so much going on in his mind. I thought, whoa, that’s heavy.”

MTV’s Hollywood Crush talks to Steven R. McQueen about his careers thus far, road tripping with his fellow cast-mates, and his first true taste of the Vampire Diaries hype:

Since Atlanta is pretty far removed from Hollywood, Steven said that the cast felt a completely different taste of their newfound fame when they went back to L.A. for the winter holidays. “In Atlanta we don’t really feel the hype, but going back to LA, I’ll tell you it was crazy. We’d just be in random places and people would just start running up and crying. It was very surreal. It’s a little intimidating, but it was cool.”

Parade chats with Sara Canning about what’s next for Jenna, the supernatural, and how The Vampire Diaries has carved its own niche in the vampire genre:

“When I did the pilot, I knew, of course, that there was a huge vampire fascination right now, but I guess we weren’t really sure how the show would be received. But it’s developed so well with its own fans. I think a lot of people thought, ‘Okay, this is just going to be another Twilight.’ But Vampire Diaries has a very specific group of fans who are not only interested in the vampire thing, but also the characters on the show and the storylines.”

Guest star Sean Faris makes his debut on tonight’s episode, Unpleasantville, and Betty Confidential isn’t able to get much out of him other than some insight into who he’ll be playing, but he also talks his recent Men’s Health cover, his cooking, and his idea of the perfect date:

Tell us about your character Ben on The Vampire Diaries.
Ben is a former star football player at the town’s high school and he didn’t really do much with his life, so while his other friends moved on he got stuck in Mystic Falls. He discovers the beautiful Bonnie (Katerina Graham) and they start to hang out for a little bit. I can’t really tell you anything beyond that or I’d get in trouble.

Just So You Know visited the set of The Vampire Diaries back in November and has posted a brief behind the scenes video of their experience. See Michael Trevino’s bizarre effect on lights, Zach Roerig’s amusement at loud noises, Nina Dobrev’s dedication to the cause of chocolate, and other peeks at on-set goings-on and promotional photo shoots. You can also check out photos during the filming of tomorrow night’s episode Unpleasantville, featuring Nina and Candice Accola.

Lots of new interviews to share today (thanks to everyone who bombarded us with links!)…

SciFind talks to Nina Dobrev about Elena, the vibe on the set, her own (recent!) paranormal experience, and the choice between Stefan or Damon:

I don’t know because if I were in [Elena's] position I would be torn too. I think separately they are very different; Stefan is the romantic, determined, very committed man who is so deeply in love with her and would do anything to protect her. Damon is very playful and fun and open and that’s what Stefan lacks, he doesn’t have this openness, he keeps secrets and doesn’t tell her everything so basically together, they make the perfect man. At the beginning of the series, it’s just Stefan all the time, but it might not always be that way.

The gossip blogs’ tongues are wagging over the prospect of Nina Dobrev and Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl guest starring on each other’s shows. Considering Bob Levy is executive producer on both shows, it’s not entirely out of the question, but we find it funny that the articles mention that Leighton and Nina met on the set of The Roommate when it’s Katerina Graham who co-stars with Ms. Meester in the film? And speaking of Nina, thanks to Nina Dobrev Fan for this peek at Nina’s recent shoot in ZINK! magazine (via I Heart Vampire Diaries). And check out this behind the scenes video of her SELF magazine photo shoot.

Paul Wesley reveals details of his first kiss over at Seventeen (via JSYK) and his worst audition experience in the new issue of VMan (courtesy of JustJared).

“Once I finished a read, looked at the director, and said, ‘That didn’t go very well, did it?’ He gave me a stern look, crossed his arms, and said, “No, it didn’t.’ I was devastated.”

PopStar talks with Ian Somerhalder about Damon, Katherine, and the popularity of vampires. Here’s what he had to say about the show’s success:

You always hope that what you do will do well. That’s why you do something, in the hope that it’ll take off, that you’ll enjoy yourself and that people will enjoy it with you. We never really had many expectations, which I think is the best way to protect yourself. I remember that (producer) Julie Plec made a joke one time. It was after we’d premiered and we were doing quite well. She said that we didn’t really have any expectations, but secretly, we wanted to take over the world. That was pretty funny because you want your show to succeed, you want it to be good, and luckily we have writing that is superb and everything — the acting, the way it’s shot, the way it’s directed — works. As long as we can keep making it work, I don’t think anybody can snicker anymore.

And he talks Stefan and Damon’s relationship, fan letters (some from prison), and shooting in haunted locations over at TV Choice Magazine:

We shot in a plantation in Georgia where 150 slaves were mass murdered after the Emancipation Proclamation. The slaves were supposed to be freed and this one plantation owner said no. It was haunted. I am the most cynical person, I don’t believe in anything supernatural, but that place had some energy. It’s in the top 10 most haunted places in the United States. It’s written up all over the place.

And he has this to say over at SciFind:

What has been your highlight of the series so far?
“There are so many of them. There’s a highlight around every corner, there’s something new and interesting and fun and amazing. Just being on the show in general is a highlight.”

And thanks to VDO for the heads up on this amusing video interview with Ian over at People.com. Who do you think would win a fight between Damon and Edward Cullen? (The answer seems pretty obvious to us.)

We have some hi-res versions of Ian’s recent Vampire Diaries promo pics (as always, click to see bigger versions in the Gallery):

And, last, but certainly not least, Zach Roerig has a feature in the new issue of Savvy Magazine. Have some scans? Please get in touch!

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesVampire Diaries TV recapper Carina MacKenzie’s interview with Nina Dobrev is up at the LA Times. They cover a lot of ground, from auditioning, living in Atlanta, and leaving Degrassi, to her inspiration behind Katherine, Elena’s discovery about her resemblance to Katherine in The Turning Point, and what fans can expect in upcoming episodes. (She also divulges her favorite episode so far.)

You’ve got a rare opportunity as an actress to be able to play two characters in one show and explore the different ways that Elena and Katherine interact with the brothers. Is there anything that Elena and Katherine have in common?

At this point, I don’t think so. At one point, Stefan describes Katherine and then he talks to someone else about Elena, and he points out their differences. Katherine was very conniving, she was narcissistic, she acted out of her own benefit and for her own selfish needs. She used these two boys as her toys. They were toys for her, and she had a lot of fun with them. I’m so lucky — I just love this show.

Digital Spy’s Tube Talk has posted their own interview with Nina, where she gives her thoughts on Elena’s future, her relationship with Stefan, and pulling double duty in playing both Elena and Katherine. Check out the piece and watch the interview below:
