The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesWhen The Vampire Diaries returns tonight, we can expect more from werewolf newcomer Jules. Guest star Michaela McManus (with input from Julie Plec) gives TV Guide‘s Robyn Ross a few clues as to what to expect in the next few episodes.

Of course, Damon has no intention of letting Jules hang around. McManus says the two will absolutely butt heads, while executive producer Julie Plec adds that the “vampire/werewolf conflict is about to go from simmer to a boil.” “[Jules'] altercation with Damon is sticking with her and she’s not too happy. Now that she’s aware of Tyler’s true identity, she’s going to start filling his ear with some things,” Plec says.

TONIGHT - NEW! Vampire Diaries: The Descent (EP212) airs at 8/7c

When we last left Mystic Falls (early December, how did we survive?), Caroline helped Tyler through his excruciating first werewolf transformation, Luka tricked Bonnie out her moonstone, Elena made a deal with Elijah and had him bust Stefan out of the tomb, and Damon pissed off Jules, a werewolf in town looking for Mason, who made Rose her Scooby snack. The bad news is that legend about a werewolf bite killing a vampire is real; the good news is that VAMPIRE DIARIES IS BACK! Go warm up that spot on the couch and tune in to CW at 8/7c.

REMINDER: Michael Trevino will be on KTLA Morning News Thursday morning at 7:45am Pacific time! If you’re not in LA, you can watch live via KTLA’s livestream at ktla.com.

Please place your seats in the upright position:

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesWell, Vampire Diaries is definitely back. I think this marks the 11th blog post today. (I dunno. Math is hard.) Over at Collider, Kevin Williamson gives vague hints about the Season 2 finale game plan (“At the end of the season, everyone won’t be standing, I’m sad to say”), gives his definition of a game-changer, and discusses this season’s primary story lines, including Tyler, Caroline, and doppelgangers:

Is the doppleganger storyline something that’s gone on longer than you thought it would? How much longer will that storyline go?
WILLIAMSON: We always envisioned it to be the season finale and the big sacrifice. We’re going to lead to it. But, we may get to it a little sooner ‘cause there’s so many parts of it and there’s also what happens after. We’re not quite sure where to end the season, with regard to the doppleganger, because there are three or four different endings of it, and beginnings. We’ve already been mapping out next season because we’re pretty sure we’re going to be around, and so we want to make sure we have a place to go with it and that we know where the starting point is.

Zap2It‘s Carina MacKenzie has another part of her video chat with Ian Somerhalder from this past weekend. This time he discusses Damon’s feelings for Elena and how the elder Salvatore brother is going to at least attempt to get back to business as usual. Key word: attempt.

Somerhalder says we’re likely to see Damon attempt to be more closed off, like he was when we first met him in the first season. “He is trying to be flippant, he is trying to be as deflective as he can while enjoying himself, and seducing women and compelling journalists and getting his way, kind of being a dick in many ways,” he says. In other words, he’s trying to be someone Elena doesn’t necessarily want to be around.

And TVLine has more from the uber-popular Michael Trevino. (Read the entire interview at TVLine.)

“At this point, we’ve shot three episodes that haven’t aired and within those three episodes, Tyler is investigating Mason’s disappearance and finds out a lot of things that he didn’t know before,” he tells us. “A little more information is given to Tyler by Jules, who’s coming off as bad, but I believe her intentions for Tyler are good. Jules gradually talks to Tyler more, and at first he’s not very receptive towards her, but you can see that she means well and all she’s trying to do is protect [him].”

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesMichael Trevino and Candice Accola have been busy, busy, busy. More interviews! Some new tidbits in these including Michael’s favorite scene he’s shot in the newest batch of episodes and whether Candice thinks Caroline and Katherine will have another confrontation.

L.A. Times: ‘The Vampire Diaries’: Tyler is in a ‘tug of war’ between vampires and werewolves, says Michael Trevino

With the transformation scene, were you thinking, “Oh God, am I going to have to do this every month now?”
I can say that there is or that there should be one more full moon in Mystic Falls before Season 2 ends. I honestly don’t know. I hope that I don’t have to go through all of that again. If there’s any way we can make it a little easier, that’d be nice. [Laughs] But if I have to go through something similar to that, then I will. But I have no idea. I can say that there will be one more full moon.

TV Squad: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Michael Trevino on Secrets, Romance and a Shocking Showdown

What has been your favorite scene to shoot in this latest batch of episodes?
Let’s see, let’s see, let’s see … I would say the confrontation between the werewolves and vampires. When they meet we shot that out in the woods. It was really cold but it was actually really cool to shoot with that many actors on set at one time. You had Ian, Paul, me. You had Michaela, who plays Jules, and a bunch of other people that are wolves and you had these vampires. It’s a really good action scene. There are a lot of good and awesome stunts. Hopefully, it all comes out well.

IGN: Candice Accola Previews The Vampire Diaries’ Return

I loved that moment when Caroline [tricked Katherine], because I think everyone is just expecting her to mess up all the time – because she does! She does mess up and that’s what I think has been so fun about putting that character in a position of this big transformation. You know, with great power comes great responsibility — Thank you, Spider-Man, for that awesome quote! — and so I think she is starting to learn that she needs to start taking responsibility for the potential results of her actions.

The theories have been flying since that Entertainment Weekly spoiler spread when Paul Wesley mentioned…well, you know. (And if you’d rather not know, don’t highlight the spoiler block below.) Via Jen Yamato, whom many of you know as the Vampire Diaries recapper for HitFix, confirmation from the source:

Just heard Arielle Kebbel say she’s coming back to The Vampire Diaries (via flashback) soon!

We think most of the spoiler enthusiasts (and Stefan’s Diaries readers) had this figured out already, but – GET EXCITED! Are you looking forward to seeing Lexi again? UPDATE: We’re drawing a conclusion there about the circumstances of this character’s return; it could very well be incorrect!

As Judy Yam promised, here is another Vampire Diaries Season 2 promo shot, this time of a statuesque Nina Dobrev. (We know we said it back when the first round of this shoot was released, but we can’t get enough of the warm, autumnal colors. So very Mystic Falls.)

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesZap2It‘s Carina MacKenzie caught up with Paul Wesley this past weekend and he may be a little excited about a certain upcoming flashback episode. And that’s okay, Paul, because so are we. Mr. Wesley discusses aforementioned 1864 flashback and why he enjoys playing a Stefan that is perhaps not-so-nice, romantic complications with Elena and Stefan (and why they’re always tripping up on their own nobility), and why Vampire Diaries is always so unpredictable (their names begin with K and J.)

With everything that’s going on in Mystic Falls with the Originals, the werewolves, and Katherine trapped in the tomb, Wesley says he’s just as curious to see how it all comes to a climax as the fans are. “Good luck, Kevin and Julie,” he laughs.

He tells us to expect some “unforeseen alliances,” but they may not last long.

“Every time I read an episode, I’m like ‘Oh, he’s a good guy!’ And the final line is like,” — he lowers his voice ominously — “‘And then he looks up, and we see, he’s really not there for that reason,’ and you’re like ‘Son of a bitch!’”

He sighs. “Every time I believe something there’s a twist. For all I know Klaus and Katherine are shacking up.”
