THIS POST IS A STICKY. KEEP SCROLLING FOR NEW POSTS.
As you undoubtedly noticed, Vampire-Diaries.net was “blacked out” today in support of the web-wide protest against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA), currently pending in the U.S. Congress. The V-D.net staff felt very strongly about participating in this protest and we thank you and our followers on Twitter for being supportive, as well as other TVD fansites that participated.
For more information about why this legislation is woefully misguided:

Just because today’s protest is over doesn’t mean our collective work is done, though: We urge you to educate yourself on why both of these pending bills are dangerous to internet freedom and to contact your Congressperson and let them know why you DO NOT support these bills. Website black-outs and tweets can only do so much; taking that extra step of contacting your senators/representatives is essential. Let them know that supporting internet freedom does not equal supporting piracy.
Thank you, fandom.
