The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesZap2It’s Carina MacKenzie has posted another video snippet from her Vampire Diaries set visit last month, and this time it’s a chat with Michael Trevino. Michael talks about his new central role in Vampire Diaries’ second season, including where Tyler’s head will be at for the first few episodes, his friendship with Matt, and his willingness to get naked. (Oh, just read the article.)

Taking such a central role in the show’s plot is a new experience for Trevino, since Tyler was M.I.A. for the majority of episodes in Season 1. “I’m looking forward to our take on this werewolf lineage and culture,” Trevino says. “You know, there’s ‘Twilight’ and ‘True Blood’ and they have their differences, obviously. I just want us to be original and be our own kind of werewolf with the transformation and the look of our wolves.”

And TV Guide’s MegaBuzz has a very interesting tidbit – something that was slyly alluded to by Kevin Williamson in his video interview with MTV at Comic Con. (Did you catch it?) Anyway, it’s definitely spoilery, so highlight to read:

How will the vamps and weres interact on The Vampire Diaries? — Tamara
MICKEY: “In our world, our vampires know very little about the werewolf mythology, other than what anybody who’s watched Wolfman or read books has learned,” says executive producer Julie Plec. “They’re going to be surprised at what they can do.” Well, not everyone will be surprised. Katherine, it turns out, has a long history with the werewolves of Mystic Falls.

Can we just fast-forward to September 9th already? Anyone?

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesTV Guide’s William Keck caught up with Vampire Diaries producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec at Comic Con and they spill a lot about what they’re keeping in mind as they delve into Season 2. So for everyone who’s wondered about Bonnie’s parents, Caroline’s dad, those mortality issues, and exactly how connected Tyler will be to a full moon… Well, this is a good read. They’re thinking about this stuff, too.

(Also – may have swooned a bit over the “wall of death” mention. Red and I joke about this all the time.)

TV Guide Magazine: What about another Halloween episode?
Williamson: We’re not looking at the show as if a whole year has passed, but we will have an episode timed to Halloween, which will be a huge masquerade ball that we’re now thinking of as a possible two-parter. S–t will hit the fan.

Because the last Halloween bash ended so well!

Who's your Daddy? How sexist.

Little late posting this – it’s all that Comic Con excitement! Tonight at 8/7c on the CW, Stefan and Elena attempt to be a normal couple. And other than Caroline’s crushing insecurities, Matt’s slips of the tongue, Damon flirting and/or making out with everyone’s maternal units and getting his eyeballs squished, and that whole ambush at the Salvatore boarding house, they manage to somewhat succeed! Of course we know that we were being lured into a false sense of relationship security as we headed into the following three episodes, but still – YAY them. Enjoy your weekly dose of summer encore with There Goes the Neighborhood.

Some news tidbits:

Comic Con 2010 kicked off in San Diego last night which means there is going to be a huge influx of Vampire Diaries chatter as we head into the weekend. You can find all of this year’s TVD at SDCC information by clicking the Comic Con International tag or checking the widget near the top of our homepage sidebar. And don’t forget to follow @tvdnews on Twitter because site bestie Jen of Nina Dobrev Fan will be tweeting all Vampire Diaries happenings straight from the Con via our account. And thanks to the fans who are there for keeping us in the loop! Everyone’s already having a blast snagging TVD goodies like the much-coveted WB Comic Con bag (wanna know how big they are? check it out), the TV Guide Comic Con special issue, and even little TVD tins filled with red hot cinnamon candies (thanks for the pic, kxyfan).

Vampire Diaries won quite a few categories in E!’s Watch with Kristin Tater Tops Awards. The show snagged Best Shocker (for end of Founder’s Day), Best Baddie (Damon Salvatore), Best Bitch (Katherine Pierce), Best New Show, and Breakout Stars Male (Ian Somerhalder) AND Female (Nina Dobrev).

Entertainment Weekly’s Ask Ausiello posted a tidbit of info on an upcoming new Season 2 character. It is very spoilery, so we’re not going to put it in the blog. (For spoilery discussion, the Spoiler Zone in the V-D.net forum is what you want.) Head over to EW.com for details.

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesEveryone knows Katerina Graham has been über-busy during the Vampire Diaries filming hiatus. Not only did she drop her debut single, “Sassy,” on iTunes, but she just wrapped shooting Honey 2, where she takes over leading lady duties from Jessica Alba. Yesterday, Kat tweeted that she had read the script for Season 2′s premiere episode, and she chatted with New York Post’s Pop Wrap about what’s in store.

PW: And I would imagine [Bonnie's] powers will only continue to grow?
Kat: Oh yea, she’s going to become even stronger. But it’s important she stay vulnerable too. You don’t want someone to raise hell with no motivation behind it. You can never forget the loss of a loved one and I don’t think she’ll ever get over losing her grams. That was her rock to this world. She wouldn’t do anything simply out of a hate for vampires. I don’t think she could ever justify that.

Some of you were a little disappointed with the earlier spoilers for season two that we posted. Hopefully this little teaser from executive producer Julie Plec via Keck’s Exclusives will get you all wondering about what’s coming up on the Vampire Diaries:

“Our big new addition is Mason Lockwood, the mayor’s much younger and cooler brother, who has been estranged from the family,” says executive producer Julie Plec. “His return introduces a lot of questions about what is so special about that creepy Lockwood family.”

We’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything about casting. In the meantime, speculate in the comments with who you think he is, why he’s been estranged, and what he plans to do in Mystic Falls…

Ian Somerhalder is looking to salvage something positive from the Gulf oil spill crisis, and hopes that it will be the wake up call that the world needs to make it a priority to search for greener energy sources. Speaking with Zap2It’s Carina MacKenzie, Ian revealed that the Vampire Diaries set will be doing its bit to green up within the entertainment industry:

“It takes a lot of power to run a movie set. We go through a lot of fuel,” Somerhalder says. “It’s harmful, and we can start changing that a little bit. We can get rid of these noisy, stinky, disgusting gas generators. There’s going to be a lot of thought that goes into this revolution that’s going to happen.”

“We’re dealing with California Transportation Department, we’re dealing with the Department of Defense, we’re dealing with disaster relief — but we’re also dealing with the entertainment industry. We’ll be taking major productions green, like big concerts and music festivals. Greening the ‘Vampire Diaries’ set is a priority for me, which we’re going to be doing this year.”

It’s just a Michael Trevino kind of evening, right? Thanks to the folks at Breakout Magazine for giving us the heads up on their interview with Michael, including a nice, lengthy video and an exclusive photo shoot. (We know a few of you have been waiting ever-so-patiently.) Mr. Trevino discusses everything from his career and Vampire Diaries to what he would and wouldn’t do in certain situations and what kind of girl he’s looking for. Most importantly, he has some very intriguing things to say about Tyler in Season 2. (Ugh, WHY IS SEPTEMBER SO FAR AWAY?!)

Breakout Magazine interview with Michael Trevino

“It’s frustrating,” (waiting for his storyline to develop) Michael says. “You have to be patient, but then you understand that we have huge ensemble cast, we have to tell a story. There’s a lot that’s gonna happen in Season 2, there’s a lot of surprises coming up, there’s gonna be a lot more Tyler Lockwood coming around.”

Watch and read the entire interview and see the photos over at Breakout Magazine.
