MTV’s Hollywood Crush has more even more from their Malese Jow interview and this time she talks about being the “new kid” on set, her working relationship and friendship with Steven R. McQueen, and why she thinks The Vampire Diaries is so successful.
“I think everyone’s always on edge whenever we get that next script. I think that’s what also makes the show so exciting. Not only is the audience at home watching on [the edge of] their seats, but so are we. It keeps things fresh, and you’re always doing your best. So I think it really helps, and I think that’s why the show’s so successful.”

Speaking of Malese, you can listen to last night’s Artists On Demand interview in full over on Blog Talk Radio.
E!Online posted their interview with Matt Davis over the weekend and it’s as colorful as his tweets, which is why we couldn’t settle on what to quote from it. So you should just go read it over on E!: Ready for Some “X-Rated” Vampire Diaries Action? Matt Davis Sure Is!
We declared a spoiler moratorium here in the blog, but that doesn’t mean posters aren’t having a field day over in the Spoiler Zone of our forums. If you’re starving for some speculation, go! Frolic! Just try not to pull all of your hair out before the season finale on May 13th.

Thanks to Denise for these scans from the May 6th issue of TV Guide Magazine. The magazine has not one, but two Vampire Diaries features for the final two episodes of the series. The first one is all about “Isobel”, and the second delves into the season finale, “Founder’s Day”. Click on the images to get to the readable versions in our gallery. Also, beware of spoilers in these articles.

Sometimes a spoiler is a spoiler…and sometimes it’s a promotional campaign! Looks like the CW is putting the focus on Elena’s biological mother, Isobel, as we head into the home stretch of season one. If you’re looking for some background, head over to the Watch with Kristin blog, and below is E’s first look at the Isobel & Elena promotional poster – Connected to her mother by blood, not love.
Are you looking forward to Isobel’s arrival in Mystic Falls?

This week’s Entertainment Weekly (Angelina Jolie on cover) profiles a handful of upcoming season finales and waaaaay down in the bottom right-hand corner is this nugget from Vampire Diaries’ executive producer Kevin Williamson. It’s not really a blatant spoiler, more an explicit tease that something may be happening before the season officially ends on May 13th.

Thanks to @serialstvcom for tweeting this at us – AOL Television is listing a title and brief summary for episode 21. Since this comes on the heels of last night’s spoiler-tastic @LilMissX episode still, we’re inclined to think it’s legit, but don’t take it as gospel until there’s confirmation from other sources. We’re throwing both the title and the one-line summary under a spoiler block, so highlight to read.
UPDATE: Title is now confirmed as legit.
Title: Isobel
Summary: Alaric is stunned when Isobel returns to town and demands a meeting with Elena.

We’re feeling all sorts of nostalgia right now with the chatter/photos coming out of Covington, Georgia – season finale filming is almost done. You’ll notice we haven’t been blogging said photos or some of the recent finale spoilers. This was a judgement call on our part. The photos are spoilery and showcasing them here on the front page of the site seemed unfair to those who really want to be surprised by what’s coming. That being said, if you eat spoilers for breakfast, it’s a total free-for-all in the Spoiler Zone of our forums. But keep in mind: Take everything with a grain of salt.
As we tweeted this morning, The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season is available for pre-order on DVD and Blu-Ray. The U.S. Amazon store has had a Vampire Diaries DVD pre-order listing for a while, but the Blu-Ray listing seems to be a recent addition. Still no concrete release date or U.S. cover art but we expect that will be surfacing soon. For those who asked about the pricing – as Craig pointed out, Amazon has a pre-order price guarantee. If the price drops before the item ships, Amazon honors the lower price.
U.S. DVD PRE-ORDER | U.S. BLU-RAY PRE-ORDER | U.K. DVD PRE-ORDER
You’ll notice the U.K. listing features cover art – we don’t know for 100% certain that it’s legit. We’ll clarify as soon as we know for certain.

Tonight begins the final six episode stretch ’til the end of Vampire Diaries season one, and Julie Plec is dropping some hints to SciFi Wire about what fans can expect tonight and in upcoming episodes. Nothing earth-shatteringly new here, but for those wondering about the Damon and Alaric situation? Yeah, this is going to be very interesting.
While Plec isn’t about to give away too many details, she does promise The Vampire Diaries will end its first season with a cliffhanger. “All cliffhangers, all the time. That’s how we roll,” Plec said with a laugh. “It is infuriating for the fans and exhilarating for the fans. And I don’t think they’d have it any other way.”

In honor of the Vampire Diaries’ return tonight, E!’s Kristin dos Santos has more PaleyFest chatter from Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec. If you’re curious what’s specifically in store for Damon these next few episodes, then watch the videos below.
The question remains, what kind of woman would stand up Ian for 145 years, hiding out (presumably) in Chicago? “One of the things we will reveal is the why,” Kevin says. “And it’s a little interesting. It’s a little diabolical. Katherine is Katherine. Katherine is a beast. She is a fickle little narcissist, and she gets what she wants. And she can have anything that she wants. And the idea that having a hot guy like that pining away for her for 145 years just can soothe an ego so well I’m sure on a rainy night.”

OnTheRedCarpet.com caught up with Kayla Ewell at the Night of 100 Looks event, and she dropped the news that the Grim Reaper is going to pay another visit to Mystic Falls at the end of season one of the Vampire Diaries. Thanks to TVD StarBuzz for the video link.
Now, there’s bound to be a lot of speculation about this, and we know a lot of our readers prefer to avoid any kind of big spoilers, so we’re going to declare this a spoiler zone. If you prefer to be surprised and don’t want to go into the rest of the season with your opinions influenced by fans gone wild with speculation, then you probably don’t want to go past this point.

The new issue of TV Guide Magazine highlights Vampire Diaries’ mid-season return; thanks to Denise (as always!) for the scan.
