Over at The Hollywood Reporter, Candice Accola shed some light on Caroline’s relationships and interactions with Tyler, Klaus, and Stefan, as well as what’s coming up in the latter part of the season in general. On the Caroline/Stefan dynamic:
“I really didn’t expect there to be a funny cadence between those characters’ conversations. It fit perfectly into it, especially at that time with Stefan showing her the ropes because Caroline is the perky “play with me play with me” pesky cheerleader and Stefan is more brooding, serious and so they played well together. I think this season there’s been other things to focus on and Caroline’s taken over Stefan’s place in the sense of showing people who are new in their supernatural ability, how to cope with it. There has been no intention to not have Caroline and Stefan be in scenes together, it’s just there’s been so many plot points and story lines going on right now. They’re still there. I’m sure that they’ll eventually have scenes together again.”

To help you get ready for tomorrow’s episode, TVLine has an interview with Paul Wesley in which he discusses whether Stefan/Elena fans should have hope and Stefan’s fundamental instability:
“I don’t think Stefan is going to, you know, go back to ripping off heads and being maniacally out of control anytime soon, but I don’t know. That’s one of the most important things about Stefan, that no matter how moderate he becomes and how stabilized he is, in supporting that as an actor, I always convey that sense of danger around the corner, that he could potentially bite somebody’s head off at any minute. That’s what makes him compelling and interesting and dynamic.”
And over at Hollywood Life, Candice Accola gives some scoop on the future of Caroline’s various friendships and relationships. Basically everything she says is spoilery for recent episodes, so we’re not going to risk quoting it, but you should definitely head over and check it out!

HuffPost TV talked to Paul Wesley about tonight’s episode, 1912 (EP316). On playing a bad boy:
“I get a little bit jealous that Damon’s kind of the bad boy,” Wesley confessed. “When Elena picks Damon, it’s like, he’s so bad, but so good. Meanwhile, Stefan is kind of like the stable, good guy. Personally, I don’t like that because I’m not that in real life. But, at the same time, Stefan has proven himself to be pretty erratic. I absolutely went bonkers when I got to play Ripper Stefan. It was like a dream come true to play Stefan as a dark, malicious guy. Saint Stefan can be great, as long as he’s flawed. I like when he breaks the rules every once in a while.”
And Stefan’s relationship with Damon:
“For me, the essence of the show lies in the relationship that Stefan has with Damon,” said Wesley. “It’s equally as important as the romantic relationships in the show.”

We’re only hours away from a brand new episode of The Vampire Diaries and Ian Somerhalder tells Zap2It about tonight’s introduction of the “badass” Sage, played by guest star Cassidy Freeman. He also discusses Damon stepping up as an older brother to Stefan and how that affects his dynamic with Elena. Oh, and he also teased this:
Somerhalder can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store for the brothers as the season winds toward its conclusion. “I just talked to [producer Pascal Verschooris] last night, because we just got episode 21, which is episode 65… and I just learned about what the finale is. It’s really dynamic, man. There’s so much stuff happening.”
When we asked him if the finale would make us cry: “Yes,” he said bluntly.

And E!Online chats with Paul Wesley about the relationship between Stefan and Damon, Stefan’s dark side, and goes quite in-depth about the long road still ahead for Stefan and Elena.
Though Stefan will not have an easy time with it, Wesley says the process will lead him back to Elena. “The more he deals with moderation, the closer he grows to Elena. He was so involved in his own darkness, he didn’t have any time for romance. As the episodes progress, the audience is going to see Stefan maybe becoming more like he was season one and two, sort of the romantic lead hero.”

Zap2it spoke with Paul Wesley about what’s coming up for Stefan in the next few episodes, including his relationships with Elena and Damon and his blood addiction issues. On the brothers’ view of their romantic situation:
“I think they’ve come to this silent understanding of the fact that they both are in love with the same girl,” Paul laughs. “They just allow it. To be honest, it’s almost like Stefan allowed Damon to step in. I mean, that was Stefan’s girl, and now Damon is suddenly a real factor, he’s really in the picture.”
And why he likes playing the Ripper:
“I really just enjoy [Ripper Stefan] a lot more. You play a vampire on screen, and when you have to play a good vampire, you have to fight your nature. Good Stefan doesn’t feel as natural in terms of what I want to be doing on screen, and what I want to be saying. I feel a little stifled, myself, whenever he’s resisting the urge to do vampiresque things.”
