Ready for your first look at how Phoebe Tonkin‘s character, Hayley, will fit in with the TVD group? Click on the partial image to see the whole exclusive still at The Insider. Hayley will first appear in tomorrow night’s episode, The Rager (EP303). Take a look at who she seems to be spending time with in this episode still, and hit the comments with your theories! And hey, Secret Circle fans, it’s pretty awesome to see Phoebe back on our screens, huh?
The Insider caught up with Julie Plec for an excellent and lengthy discussion about tonight’s new episode, Memorial, and the events and fallout of last week’s Season 4 premiere, Growing Pains. In addition to touching on the big mystery set up in last week’s final moments and Elena’s journey as a newbie vampire, Plec also explains why tonight’s Memorial acts as a Season 3 finale:
Insider.com: Earlier you mentioned that you were slow playing these first few episodes. Does that allow these characters, whose lives whoosh by, to take stock of everything that’s happened?
Julie: For sure. I look at episode two in my own special way as the finale of last season’s journey. We never got a chance to mourn, we never got a chance to properly grieve Alaric. In a way, our characters are never given the opportunity to sit and think about the terrible things that happen to them. This is a way of saying to the audience, we are allowing ourselves this moment to grieve. We are putting this away and moving forward. In many ways, episode three is truly the launch of season three [four? – V.] in that we’re really beginning a new chapter. Episode one and two are almost like a nice bow wrapped on end of season three.
There’s more than one love triangle in Mystic Falls . . . and you should head over to The Insider to see the rest of their exclusive promo picture of Caroline, Tyler, and Klaus.
And hey, ready to check in with Caroline’s other (former?) love interest? The Examiner talked to Zach Roerig about what he’d like to see for Matt in season 4.
“He’s got Elena; he’s got the number one bodyguard in the world, now that she’s a vampire, and she’ll look out for him. But I would like to see Matt play a more dominant role in the show as far as being a physical presence and whatever that is. Being aggressive and doing all of that stuff is really fun.”
There are a lot of cast interviews popping up lately, so we’re putting them all together in one place so everyone can revel in the TVD goodness. Only a couple more weeks until the start of Season 4! Some interviews may have hints and spoilers for the upcoming season, so be click at your own risk. Enjoy!

Secret Circle fans aren’t the only ones who are looking forward to seeing Phoebe Tonkin on the Vampire Diaries cast this fall, we’re all pretty psyched that she’s heading for Mystic Falls. There’s been a lot of speculation about her role so far, and The Insider recently interviewed Phoebe to ask her about her character, working with Candice and Michael and telling pal Claire Holt about the new gig.
From the sound of it, she’ll fit in nicely, we strongly suspect that “no parental involvement” is a prerequisite for all extra curricular activities at MFHS.
Insider.com: What can you tell me about your character, Haley?
Phoebe: I like that she’s a world traveler, a bit of a tomboy, pretty ballsy and provocative, but not in the way Faye was on Secret Circle. I mean, she went out to manipulate and see what should could gain from people. Hayley just doesn’t have a filter. She didn’t really have parental figures in her life, and I like that kind of a person. I like that she’s tough and tries to keep up with the boys. That’s what I responded to when Julie [Plec, executive producer] first pitched the character to me.
Speaking of new characters, TV Guide revealed today that we’ll be seeing a couple of new Hybrids a few episodes into the season.
Blake Hood and Alyssa Diaz have been tapped to play his minions, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.
The Insider has our first official Season 4 promo pic – courtesy of the CW – and of course it features Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, and Ian Somerhalder looking good in the cemetery, as you do.
The Hollywood Reporter sat down with Ian Somerhalder to discuss the answer to this question: “How would Damon deal with the fact that Elena could choose either brother (or even neither)?” Watch his response below:
And The Insider caught up with Persia White to chat about the final three episodes of The Vampire Diaries Season 3:
Insider: Does she get in the mix with magic in the upcoming episodes?
Persia: Abby helps Bonnie in a pretty pivotal way that involves witchcraft in these last episodes. I know Abby isn’t in a stable place but her help causes some twists that lead to the big events of the season finale. They’re heavily influenced by the problems Abby is helping Bonnie with.
The Insider‘s Jarett Wiselman sat down with Joseph Morgan to discuss what is being built up as possibly the biggest/most important Vampire Diaries season finale thus far (and a special mention of Do Not Go Gentle), what you’ll never see in Mystic Falls, and who Klaus would choose as a life-long companion if it came down to his sister or a potential lover.
The Insider has an exclusive peek at the March 29th episode of The Vampire Diaries, The Murder of One (EP318), and… Well. Let’s just say things aren’t looking so fun for Damon. But when has anything ever gone according to plan in Mystic Falls?
The Insider‘s Jarrett Wieselman talked to Torrey DeVitto about the characters of questionable sanity she currently plays on both The Vampire Diaries and Pretty Little Liars. She discusses her recent trend of playing crazy ladies, her role in a certain recent cliffhanger, and what’s coming up when The Vampire Diaries returns on March 15:
“You learn a lot about Meredith — you’ll see her unfold and learn a lot about where she’s coming from. Her personality comes through a lot more.”
Pretty Little Liars fans will also want to check out what she says about Melissa.
