L.J. Smith has provided the folks over at Authspot with a teaser for The Return: Shadow Souls. It’s a scene between Damon and Elena, and should whet the appetites of Vampire Diaries fans who are eagerly waiting for the next book. Shadow Souls is currently due for publication at the end of this year.

Looks like an official Vampire Diaries website has launched, with information on the books and characters, impending info on the TV series, a promise of future giveaways, and a blog. Also check out the book trailer: “Before Bella…” And you can also fan the series on Facebook.
WARNING TO THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS: There are MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS on The Books page of the site, right at the top. If you don’t want to know, avoid that page at all costs. (A note to HarperTeen/Alloy: big spoilers for the books in the series synopsis? Really, guys?)

You can also get a clear glimpse of the Damon who will appear on a future edition of The Return trilogy. (“Princess of Darkness” is the new “Queen of Shadows”!)

Carrie Schechter, the photographer for the cover of Nightfall has blogged about the release of the book (the trailers she refers to are likely for a completely different Vampire Diaries that isn’t related to the books, or they’re the audition videos we’ve already seen). She’s also posted a behind the scenes look at the shoot, in which you can get a look at the model for who we assume to be Damon.
