Little late posting this – it’s all that Comic Con excitement! Tonight at 8/7c on the CW, Stefan and Elena attempt to be a normal couple. And other than Caroline’s crushing insecurities, Matt’s slips of the tongue, Damon flirting and/or making out with everyone’s maternal units and getting his eyeballs squished, and that whole ambush at the Salvatore boarding house, they manage to somewhat succeed! Of course we know that we were being lured into a false sense of relationship security as we headed into the following three episodes, but still – YAY them. Enjoy your weekly dose of summer encore with There Goes the Neighborhood.
Some news tidbits:
Comic Con 2010 kicked off in San Diego last night which means there is going to be a huge influx of Vampire Diaries chatter as we head into the weekend. You can find all of this year’s TVD at SDCC information by clicking the Comic Con International tag or checking the widget near the top of our homepage sidebar. And don’t forget to follow @tvdnews on Twitter because site bestie Jen of Nina Dobrev Fan will be tweeting all Vampire Diaries happenings straight from the Con via our account. And thanks to the fans who are there for keeping us in the loop! Everyone’s already having a blast snagging TVD goodies like the much-coveted WB Comic Con bag (wanna know how big they are? check it out), the TV Guide Comic Con special issue, and even little TVD tins filled with red hot cinnamon candies (thanks for the pic, kxyfan).
Vampire Diaries won quite a few categories in E!’s Watch with Kristin Tater Tops Awards. The show snagged Best Shocker (for end of Founder’s Day), Best Baddie (Damon Salvatore), Best Bitch (Katherine Pierce), Best New Show, and Breakout Stars Male (Ian Somerhalder) AND Female (Nina Dobrev).
Entertainment Weekly’s Ask Ausiello posted a tidbit of info on an upcoming new Season 2 character. It is very spoilery, so we’re not going to put it in the blog. (For spoilery discussion, the Spoiler Zone in the V-D.net forum is what you want.) Head over to EW.com for details.

You knew it was only a matter of time, right? We love our polls and this one’s big: Narrow down your favorite Vampire Diaries: Season One episodes to your TOP THREE. (I can do four, so I’m sweating a bit.) Which episodes made you yell at your television with joy or frustration? Challenged or solidified your allegiances? Turned your character perspective upside down? Which episodes left you with an emotional hangover the next day and had you dissecting it, minute by minute, scene by scene, in blog post comments or in forums? Which three episodes reel you back in, over and over again?
For the first time, we’re going multiple choice. Check your three favorite episodes and see where your fellow fans land. And if you’re so inclined, let us know how and why you settled on your picks.

Hope those of you able to take advantage of the holiday are doing so. For everyone else, Happy Lazy Sunday! Let us nibble on Cadbury eggs and round up a few tidbits from this past week…
There Goes the Neighborhood is now up on the CW’s website for viewing.
If you’ve been on Twitter this weekend, you know that preparations for the Vampire Diaries season one finale (May 13th) are under way. But don’t despair, TVD fans – we have it on very good authority that you’re going to be too busy freaking out over the final episodes of this season to even think about the summer hiatus. Six episodes from now, we’ll be deep in conversation about what’s coming in season two – how exciting is that?
@MSiega: Looking forward to shooting the season one finale this week!
@julieplec: Headed to the office w @kevwilliamson. Listening to Glee soundtrack. Getting my season finale mojo on.
@kevwilliamson: Big writing day. Season finale time. Love, romance, and lots of blood.
Vampire Diaries Web has a slew of previously unreleased behind-the-scenes pics and stills from several episodes of The Vampire Diaries. We’ve included a small sampling below with links to VDW’s gallery. You can see their original posts here, here, and here.

Today is the last day to enter SeenOn.com’s Vampire Diaries giveaway. One grand prize winner will receive Elena’s KRMA leather jacket, and six runners-up will win Bonnie’s crystal necklace (as seen in the CW Shop). Don’t miss out!
And finally, we received a very nice email from Melinda (yeah, that Melinda) and Sharie from Paul Wesley Fans asking if we could give some attention to their cause. Seems they may have the opportunity to interview a Vampire Diaries cast member and are bolstering their case with a fan petition. If you’d like to help them out, head on over and sign their petition. It’ll take you a minute and perhaps these ladies will get their chance.

Awkwardness. Tension. Unrequited whatever. No, we’re not talking about Kevin Williamson’s public pancake pining (which was resolved on Tuesday night at an IHOP – where else?), but the situational anxiety brought on by a Stefan/Elena and Caroline/Matt double date. Will “Fun” – a mythical creature once referenced by our favorite vampire BFF, Lexi – actually find itself in the same room as Stefan? (Well, other than the end of The Turning Point? Yeah, I went there, sorry. Okay, not really.) Will Caroline’s mouth dig a moat between herself and Elena? And let’s not even get started on the trouble Damon seems to be getting himself into with Kelly Donovan and Pearl. Here comes the neighborhood…and there it goes. No foolin’. Tune into the CW tonight at 8/7c to watch the vervain hit the fan.
Matt Davis (@ErnestoRiley) has been posting an amazing string of cast and crew photos on Twitter the past two days. Definitely check ‘em out. (Also, his referring to himself as Alaric and in the third person? Hilaaaaaaaarious.)

KryptonSite is rocking the Vampire Diaries goodies today, this time in the shape of more Vampire Diaries episode stills from “There Goes the Neighbourhood”. Nice to see Pearl is catching up with the 21st century without too many problems, but it’s kind of sad to see her awesome 19th century dresses disappear into the past. Head on over to KryptonSite’s “There Goes the Neighborhood” gallery to see the other six stills.

The CW have posted up the extended promo for episode 16 of the Vampire Diaries, “There Goes the Neighborhood”:
Around 3.3 million viewers tuned in to watch “A Few Good Men” last night. TV by the Numbers has more details:
Returning with new episodes, the CW’s Vampire Diaries scored a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating, that’s the same as its last new episode (2/11). Vampire Diaries was down 8% to a 2.2 rating in the CW target women 18-34 demo.
For those of you who missed it in North America & the UK, you can watch it online:
USA: Download from Amazon for $1.99
Canada: Watch the episode on the CTV website
UK: Download from iTunes for £1.89
Finally, SELF caught up with Katerina Graham to chat about Bonnie, the Vampire Diaries books and the supernatural:
Your character is one of the most powerful–no pun intended–on the show (sorry, Nina!). Tell us about Bonnie.
I love Bonnie because I like a character that evolves and grows and comes into her own. I love that she was really just kind of a quiet girl from the beginning who hung out with her gran and had the same best friends since the sandbox. She’s just a simple girl from a simple town, and she’s evolved. She’s strong and she is making her own decisions for herself, she’s not letting herself get steamrolled over. I love playing a strong female character. I’m all about that in my life, empowerment and feeling good about who you are and accepting who you are. I love that that parallels with Bonnie’s storyline of accepting that she’s a witch, accepting what she’s capable of, having the responsibility of that. I love playing someone like that that has conviction and passion. I’m all about that.
