The last few episodes of The Vampire Diaries have been eventful, to say the least, so it’s time for some postmortems: executive producer Julie Plec has done a bunch of interviews in the wake of the big, huge events of Down the Rabbit Hole (EP414) and Stand by Me (EP415), but we don’t want to risk spoiling anyone in the U.K. or other countries that aren’t quite up to date with the show. And these interviews, obviously, are really spoilery. So we’re giving you the links, and you can read at your own risk. Enjoy!

The CW has also released a new promo for the March 14th return of the show, called “Losing Control.” It doesn’t look like there’s much (if any) new footage, but ooh, shiny:

TVLine has some more from their talk with Julie Plec about the Salvatores, Klaus, Caroline & Tyler, and more coming up in the second half of season four. This passage about Klaus is intriguing:
“The beauty of Klaus, much like Damon, is that his horrible misdeeds are all born out of a place of a complete lack of trust and faith as a result of being repeatedly betrayed and rejected in his life. I’m not saying I excuse his horrific behavior, but it’s born from a very human place. Once someone’s got a strong core of humanity, there’s hope for them – [they may] just not necessarily wake up tomorrow as Man of the Year. Klaus will continue to be a very complicated character. Much like Damon in the first couple seasons, when he feels backed up against the wall, he lashes out in very, very destructive ways. It makes it impossible to forgive. And yet, the redemption of Klaus as a character-long arc is something we always talk about.”
Also find out what the future holds for Tyler after his family tragedy, Jeremy with his new “career,” and more.

SPOILERS ALERT! It’s almost impossible to post anything about last night’s episode -O Come All Ye Faithful (EP409)- without spoiling it. If you haven’t seen it yet, use extreme caution when reading anything Vampire Diaries related today! The mid-season finale was especially rough on Tyler Lockwood and left Vampire Diaries fans with lots of questions. TV Guide went to the source to get some answers, they spoke with Julie Plec, who answers questions about specific details from last night’s episode and reflects back on the first half of season four.
Is Tyler now screwed since Klaus found out he was trying to kill him?
Plec: Tyler has definitely been marked by Klaus, and that’s something that will play out over the next few episodes — the repercussions of Tyler’s move against Klaus.
TVLine also has an interview with Julie, and again, spoilers everywhere.
TVLINE | We didn’t actually see Tyler react to the death. How will he deal with it?
[When] the next episode picks up, a little bit of time has happened, and we’ll see that Tyler’s not handling it altogether too well. He’s keeping to himself, refusing to show his emotions and stewing in his own grief and anger, which is making it difficult to help him. It’s sad for Caroline, who just wants to be there for him.
ETA: Entertainment Weekly has an interview with last night’s fallen cast member and more questions answered by Julie Plec over at Hollywood.com!

Everyone’s been caught up in the sire storyline, but in tonight’s mid-season finale, O Come, All Ye Faithful (EP409), there’s plenty of other drama going on as well – and much of it involves Klaus. TVLine recently caught up with Joseph Morgan to talk about Klaus’s take on Caroline, Tyler, and the way everyone is trying to play him this season. But does he have mixed feelings about Tyler’s power grab?
TVLINE | Is there a part of Klaus that’s a little proud of Tyler despite the fact that he’s trying to take him down? Here’s this hybrid he created and raised, so to speak, who’s now grown up and is taking power.
That’s a really interesting question. I have not been asked that before. I think possibly, yes. I would like to think so. It’s a bold move and one that Klaus might make himself in that situation. I would like to think there is, but that doesn’t mean he’ll go any easier on Tyler when he does find out. But I like that idea very much!
READ THE WHOLE INTERVIEW AT TVLINE.
And over at Zap2it, Joseph talks about how he enjoys the way his character has become increasingly complex:
“I do like it, because it’s something different,” he says. “Working with Candice [Accola] is wonderful, obviously, and I love exploring the great range that the writers have given Klaus this season. Last year, when they brought in Rebekah and the family, I was very pleased because it gave us a chance to see a new side of Klaus, to see the way he is with people he cares about, people he’s close to. This is like that in that with a love interest, it’s a whole new element to him to explore.”

The Vampire Diaries is famous for its love triangle, but lately it seems like there’s a love geometry problem every which way you look. Caroline Forbes, for example, has a lot of complications in the romance department. TVLine spoke with Candice Accola about her character’s relationships this season. Beware of spoilers!
TVLINE | Tyler said nothing happened between him and Hayley. At this point in their relationship, does Caroline trust him?
Caroline definitely trusts Tyler. It’s easier to look as an adult watching the show and be like, “What?! Come on!” But they’re very young. This is also a very young relationship. Maybe he did spend time with another woman, but it doesn’t mean exactly that he cheated on her. This is the first time that he has given her a reason not to [trust him], but he’s opening up about it and he’s talking about it.

Claire Holt answers a variety of questions from Screen Spy about all things Rebekah in Season 4, including what high school is going to be like for her now that she’s alienated pretty much everyone she knows.
Screen Spy: How hard is it going to be for Rebekah to hold her head up and continue on in High School this year? She’s been ostracized by so many people at this point.
Claire Holt: She’s going to try to put up a bit of a wall and pretend it doesn’t affect her. She’s going to play that mean girl card. But it’s all an act. Obviously, being ostracized like that is going to be incredibly tough for her. There’s going to be some fun elements to it. She can’t really decide what she wants. One minute she doesn’t care. She wants to be the tough bad girl, and the next she really doesn’t, so there will definitely be that dynamic. I got to do some really fun scenes where that whole aspect is played up. [laughing] It’s great!
Phoebe Tonkin shared a few things with TVLine about her incoming character, Haley, and what waves she might be making in Mystic Falls, specifically with one Tyler Lockwood. Spoiler alert!
“All we know is that they were friends and that they went through something big together, so they have a special bond because of that,” replies the actress. “So they were just good friends. But I don’t know if, at the beginning, Caroline thinks that.”
