We’ve known for a while that Kevin Williamson loves to keep things as mysterious for the cast as he does for the fans in regards to upcoming Vampire Diaries storylines, and the mystery of Katherine is no exception. MTV’s Hollywood Crush spoke to Paul Wesley on the subject of our favourite wicked vampire, and he’s dying to know what happens just like we are.
Congratulations to @shaylawiseman, who won the signed Vampire Diaries poster and tote bag that we gave away on Twitter yesterday. We’re planning on giving away something every Monday until the show comes back on March 25 (we’re doing our part to make this hiatus more bearable for you), so keep an eye on our Twitter account to be in with a chance of winning some Vampire Diaries goodies.

So…remember that little award The Vampire Diaries won back in January? You know, that one the fandom went crazy voting for? Something called the People’s Choice Awards? Favorite New TV Drama? Big thanks to Kevin Williamson for this beauty (click to see a bigger version in the Gallery, and LOVE the Vampire Diaries posters visible on either side!).

Look what came in the mail. Yippee!!! http://twitgoo.com/edjev
@kevwilliamson – we want one!
Are we all gonna get to keep it for a few days like the Stanley Cup???
UPDATE: Nina Dobrev:
@kevwilliamson (re: http://twitgoo.com/edjev) cool Kev…where’s ours! haha. Paul and I are still waiting for our “Hottest New Couple” award
We say all future awards should come in pairs – one for Los Angeles and one for Atlanta. ;)

Well, we tried to be spoiler-free on Twitter, but that went out the window once the cast and production team started tweeting their thanks – sorry, West coasters! In case you’re not on Twitter (le gasp!), everyone will be happy to know that you voted Vampires Diaries Favorite New TV Drama in the 2010 People’s Choice Awards. Nice job! The award was presented by Greg Grunberg (Heroes) and Kathryn Morris of Cold Case, who added a nice personal touch to proceedings as a lot of Vampires Diaries‘ crew used to work on Cold Case. They accepted the award on behalf of Vampire Diaries since, as you all know, cast and crew are back filming new episodes in Atlanta.
TVD cast and crew had this to say on Twitter:
Wow! Congrats to all my Vampire Diaries family! And thanks Kathryn for the shout out!
holy shit, we won??? Wow. And to think I only voted 243 times. Thanks, everyone! Way to mobilize.
I’m still in awe that a show w 25% of the competitions’ viewers can win. Really does show the power of fandom (and the TVD Twitterverse)!

Happy birthday, Stefan! Or will it be “happy” after all? This is Mystic Falls. We know many of you weren’t digging what you were seeing in the “rebound” promo – who the hell does Lexi think she is? – but we say don’t trust the edit and watch those webclips again. Then tune in to The Vampire Diaries on the CW, 8pm/7c, to see how Lexi’s visit goes down. Something tells us it won’t be all towels and pool tables.
As you will the hours, minutes, seconds to pass quickly, busy yourself with a refresher in all things 162 Candles (and hop in on the theorizin’ and anticipatin’ in the discussion forum – a few smart cookies posting over there):
- Read the synopsis
- See episode stills
- Watch promos 1 | 2 | 3
- Watch episode clips 1 | 2
- TV Guide’s spoilerific interview with Arielle Kebbel (Lexi)
- More interviews (warning: Haunted spoilers!): Kevin Williamson | CW Connect video interviews with Katerina Graham, Zach Roerig & Kayla Ewell | Paul Wesley | Julie Plec on Vampire Diaries music | Katerina Graham | Ian Somerhalder
- Vampire Diaries cast members share their iTunes playlists
And we want to remind you of a few things, the first being that Vampire Diaries is nominated for final inclusion in the People’s Choice Awards’ Favorite SciFi/Fantasy Show category. Go vote ‘em into the Final Five!
Next, Ian Somerhalder will be on Jimmy Fallon this Friday night.
And last, but certainly not least: PAUL WESLEY DOES NOT HAVE A TWITTER ACCOUNT. Thank you.

The Vampire Diaries Wednesday night re-run spree continues with an encore of last week’s episode, Haunted. And Thursday brings a brand new ep: 162 Candles. Talk about both in the discussion forum, where the back and forth is already in full swing (seems a lot of people aren’t sure what to make of Lexi). Oh, and you can still chime in on the Haunted poll, of course.
If we told you how many hits this humble website receives off “vampire diaries music” keyword searches alone, you’d be more than a bit surprised. Hell, we still boggle at it and we’re total music junkies. TV Guide Magazine has taken note of the show’s unique soundtrack and chats with Julie Plec about the challenges and song choices thus far:
“There’s something about the indie artists that really works well for our vibe,” says co-executive producer Julie Plec, stressing that the tunes heard in Vampire Diaries aren’t just background music, but help advance the romance and drama of Damon, Elena and Stefan.
What’s your favorite song from the series so far? (Our picks? Red loved Sea Wolf’s “You’re a Wolf” from Friday Night Bites and the Submarines’ “Brightest Hour” during Bonnie’s candle-lighting scene in Family Ties. I personally loved White Lies’ “Death” from the pilot, and I especially liked how the Black Keys’ “Strange Times” and that Moby cover of New Order’s “Temptation” were used in Friday Night Bites. Actually, we’re both in agreement that FNB has the overall best songlist. Agree? Disagree?) Props to series music supervisor, Chris Mollere.
Marcos Siega announced that Liz Friedlander – who’s also been known to direct a music video or two, including one for Blink-182 – will be taking over TVD directing duties. We believe she’ll be helming episode 11 (#110).
And, finally, TV Guide’s Mega Buzz has a “WTF?” tidbit about an upcoming character development that’s sure to set all of you buzzing for all sorts of different reasons (please don’t forget your spoiler tags in the comments!):
Witches and vampires aren’t the only supernatural creatures in Mystic Falls. It won’t be right away, but a major male character will reveal himself to be a werewolf. And don’t think having read the books will help you figure this one out. In fact, the werewolf in question won’t even know he’s a werewolf, initially at least.
