Remember that People.com poll we mentioned a while back? The one that ruffled so many feathers with its “Second-Hottest Vampire” designation (assuming RPattz was number one)? Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley were included and, well, the results are in – as voted by People.com readers (click the screenshot to go to People.com):

Awards Show Network has followed up their interviews with Candice Accola and Katerina Graham with a brief Nina Dobrev chat:
Speaking of the Vampire Diaries ladies – the new issue of InStyle magazine features a two-page spread with Nina, Candice, Katerina, and Kayla Ewell. And the Jan/Feb issue of Men’s Health has future recurring guest star Sean Faris on its cover. (Thanks to @sabinetbfl and @Joselito4390 for the heads up.) And don’t forget to watch for Paul, Nina, and Ian on the February 2010 NYLON cover.
Thanks to book cover maven Lorraine of L.J. Smith Cover Resource, we now have some much better scans of Brazil’s The Struggle and the U.K. omnibus covers for The Awakening & The Struggle and The Fury & Dark Reunion. Click the images below to see bigger version in the Gallery.

By the way, if you’re a fan of L.J. Smith’s other series, or just a book cover fan in general, you really should swing by L.J. Smith Cover Resource and check out the plethora of international covers that are coming out. It really is a renaissance for the author’s work and Lorraine has it all.

Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are still in the UK, hopefully having fun. Though given both Ian and Nina have tweeted a desire to live here, the experience obviously hasn’t been a bad one. Don’t worry, USA, we’ll make sure they get home again. After all, people might notice a difference if the Vampire Diaries started mysteriously looking like it was shot in the same locations as MI5: Spooks. ;)
Looks like the UK’s Heat Magazine have been won over by the Vampire Diaries, and we have to say our hearts developed a warm glow at the article headline. No offense to Robert Pattinson fans, but it’s certainly nice to see people enjoying more variety in the field of young, hot vampires. ;)
After spending the day doing some promotional work for ITV (we’ll hopefully be seeing pictures from that before too long), the trio attended the world premiere for Sherlock Holmes (you know, the one where Watson is even prettier than the female lead). We’re hoping we get some images soon, but until then there are couple of short videos of Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder to keep you going.
We’ve got some more images from the Apple store appearance, courtesy of Giochan over at Italian fansite Only Paul Wesley. Her awesome family gave her a birthday surprise and sent her over to London so she could meet Paul Wesley, and she’s sharing her Apple store images with us. You can view some of the images in our gallery, and more of them in the Only Paul Wesley gallery. There are also a few video clips of Paul for you to take a peek at. If you’d like to use the images, be sure to ask Giochan’s permission.
And if you want to see some more video footage from the Apple store appearance, then check out @SmeaGollum888‘s YouTube channel for her uploads.
(Small clarification note as some people aren’t aware: Red is in the UK, Vee is in the USA. World domination bid, yo.)

We’ve got some more information about the Vampire Diaries being available for download on iTunes in the UK. Looks like ITV are trying something radical to help build a buzz for the show before it premieres next year, and to also try and encourage UK fans to download it via a legal route and combat piracy. The first ten episodes that have already aired in USA are going to be released on iTunes over the coming weeks, with (and this is the best bit) the remaining twelve episodes being made available for download in the UK the day after they’ve aired the USA. The pilot is now available for download in Standard Definition for £1.89 or in High Definition for £2.49. UK fans, enjoy catching up. You’re in for a treat.
And if you’re in London, don’t forget to head over to the Apple store on Regent Street this evening, where Nina, Paul and Ian will be from 5:30pm to promote the Vampire Diaries and answer fan questions.

That’s right, folks. We finally have a date for the Vampire Diaries in the UK. According to Digital Spy, British fans need to mark down Sunday, 24th January, 2010 at 9pm on ITV2. If you have plans for that date, now is a great time to rearrange them.
UPDATE: Guardian article now saying UK premiere is in February.
As we’ve mentioned previously, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder are headed off to London for a few days to promote the TV series. HeatWorld is reporting that the trio are going to be at the Apple Store on Regent Street on Saturday, 12th December from 5.30pm, so UK fans should head on down there to ask them questions. HeatWorld is also reporting that the pilot will be available for download on iTunes in the UK tomorrow, for those who want to get their paws on it before the end of January.

A bunch of shiny, new book covers for you all to peruse. Props to the UK publishers for a bloody feather on their Nightfall cover, which is actually on-topic, and much better than the apple (of which we shall not speak). The paperback version is due out in the UK on March 4, 2010.
Germany is putting out an omnibus edition of The Awakening and The Struggle (due October, 2010), and fans can look forward to Nightfall (with a cover featuring someone who looks more like Faye from the Secret Circle than anyone from the Vampire Diaries) in May, 2010. And finally, the French publishers have won our hearts by actually giving Damon his black eyes on their cover. Fans in France can look forward to seeing Nightfall published on February 3, 2010.

Today/tonight is your last chance to vote The Vampire Diaries as Best New TV Drama in the People’s Choice Awards. Get over there and vote as many times as your index finger will allow you to click. Finger cramps are for sissies and police procedurals are boring. (Yeah. We said it.)
Nina, Paul, and Ian are heading over to Red’s home turf – that would be the U.K. – to promote The Vampire Diaries, which begins airing on ITV2 next month. Have questions for the trio? Wander over to ITV2′s Facebook page and chime in with your queries.
Finally, we know many of you have been searching for this info: The track used in the Lost Girls promo is Rie Sinclair “(Lover) What’s Going On”.

Not sure how this snuck past us, but looks like all four volumes of the original Vampire Diaries series – The Awakening, The Struggle, The Fury and Dark Reunion – were released on audio book on October 27th, with The Return: Nightfall following…today! All volumes are unabridged, narrated by actor Rebecca Mozo, and available for purchase on Audible.com or iTunes. You can find direct links for purchase below (Nightfall not yet available through iTunes). Check out the covers below or in the Gallery.
And Red would like you all to know – being of the British persuasion and all – that it’s been officially confirmed that ITV2 will begin airing The Vampire Diaries in the U.K. this January, rather than just a nebulous “2010.” Which he already figured, but now it’s all OFFICIAL and stuff, which means he can now sip his cuppa and stop making snooty comments. Huzzah!

Back in June we reported that HarperTeen was re-releasing The Struggle and The Awakening on the 25th August of this year. The covers hadn’t been revealed at that point, and we speculated that there may well be a TV series tie-in. Looks like we were right, as HarperTeen has now revealed the new covers, both of which which feature Elena, Stefan and Damon as portrayed by Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder in the TV series. You can click on the thumbnails for larger images.

In other reprint news, the cover for the UK omnibus edition of The Fury and The Reunion (which is the title Dark Reunion goes by in the UK) has turned up on Amazon. It looks as if the apple cover (of which we will not speak) is here to stay for The Awakening and The Struggle. The publication dates for these are still being listed as the 6th August for volume one, and 3rd September for volume two.

We also have news on the Return Trilogy. According to Amazon.com, Nightfall is set for a paperback release on January 5th, 2010 in the USA, while Shadow Souls is still listed with a hardcover release date of 9th February, 2010. In the UK, Amazon.co.uk are listing January, 2010 for the Nightfall paperback release, and February, 2010 for Shadow Souls. These will likely be imports from the USA, as was the case with the hardcover version of Nightfall.
