The Hybrid (EP302) Ratings & DownloadsBefore we get to our regularly scheduled download links, yet another reminder that there has been no official announcement concerning the U.K. air date for Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries. We do know that last week’s premiere was posted to iTunes U.K. on Monday and logic dictates that The Hybrid will also be posted to the service after this weekend. (UPDATE: The Hybrid is now available on iTunes UK! Link below.) We will not speculate or give generalizations about when we think the show will be back or when to expect a premiere announcement. Trust us: The minute ITV2 announces the return of Vampire Diaries to U.K. screens, every single fansite in this fandom will plaster it all over the internet. We know it sucks, U.K. fans. Hang in there!

The Vampire Diaries: The Hunters: Moonsong - UK coverThe UK cover for the second volume of The Hunters, Moonsong, has now been revealed on Amazon.co.uk (click on the thumbnail for a larger version). White roses are symbols of innocence and purity, but also used as arrangements for rememberance. What do you guys think? Should we read anything into this, or is it just that white roses make the blood look more vivid?

Our book cover count for The Hunters is increasing, but we’d love to see other covers from around the world when they become available. If the books are being released in your country, why not let us know so we can share the covers and publication dates?

Amazon is also now listing the short synopses for both books. We’ve spoiler-blocked Moonsong as Phantom hasn’t been published yet. Mouseover or highlight the text to read it.

Phantom:

Since meeting vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore, Elena Gilbert has been to hell and back. Now that she and her friends have saved their hometown from a demonic spirit, everything can finally go back to normal.

But Elena should know better than anyone that Fell’s Church will never be normal. In PHANTOM, a dangerous new other-worldly threat sets its sights on Elena. And this time she can only count on one Salvatore brother to protect her.

Moonsong:

Life is better than ever, Elena and her friends can’t wait to attend Dalcrest College. But when students start to disappear from campus, suddenly every new acquaintance is a potential enemy.
Then Elena uncovers a long-hidden secret, one that shocks her to the core, she realises that darkness has followed her from Fell’s Church. But will it be Stefan or Damon who catches her when she falls?

Phantom is due to be released on October 25th in the US and November 3rd in the UK. Moonsong is due to be released on March 13th in the USA and March 1st in the UK.

Apologies UK fans! The bank holiday threw me for a loop, and I’ve been thinking it was Sunday. So I’m a bit late in blogging to let you know that throughout this week, ITV2 are showing the second half of season 2, two episodes a night. To catch up with the rest of the season, you need to be tuning in each night to ITV2 at 8pm for two whole hours worth of Vampire Diaries. This run of repeats will end on Saturday, 4th June.

The day we’ve been waiting for both eagerly and with dread (hey, who wants long, hellish hiatuses, after all?) has arrived. As I Lay Dying, the season 2 Vampire Diaries finale, will be hitting UK screens shortly. As is traditional with this show, we get a lot of resolution with season 2 questions being answered… only for newer, more intriguing questions to be raised as we head on into season 3. Also, eagle-eyed viewers may well spot just where Vee left her immortal mark in the Grill.

We have another giveaway this week, so make sure you’re following us (@tvdnews) if you want a chance to win. We’ve got two copies of the Vampire Diaries soundtracks courtesy of the awesome folks over at ITV2. We’re using the same format as we’ve done with the previous UK giveaways – one soundtrack for the best tweet using the #tvduk hashtag, and one for the first person who tweets us the answer to the trivia question we’ll post at the end of the episode. You don’t need to use the #tvduk hashtag for the trivia question, but you will need to keep a sharp eye on the little things in the episode, because that’s what the trivia question will be based on.

Don’t forget to enter our UK As I Lay Dying giveaway! You could win a Vampire Diaries prize pack. Click here for details on how to enter. (You have until midnight GMT tonight!)

There’s plenty of time to still join in with the buzz following the episode after it aired in the US:

Tune in to ITV2 (and be sure to follow @itv2 on Twitter for some entertaining live-tweeting) at 9pm tonight to catch As I Lay Dying, or catch it again at 10pm on ITV2+1. Still need to catch up on the previous episode? You can watch it on ITV Player, or download it in HQ from iTunes UK.

As I Lay Dying (EP222 - season finale) giveaway: Win a Vampire Diaries prize pack! This time tomorrow night UK fans will be gearing up to watch the season 2 finale of the Vampire Diaries, As I Lay Dying. To celebrate the episode (though not the dreadful Summer hiatus afterwards), we’re teaming up with the awesome ITV2 to do a special giveaway for UK fans. The prize pack contains the rather spiffing poster to your left. And this isn’t just any poster, it’s a metre-high print on acryllic, and we’ve been assured that it’s heavy (so if you win, make sure you don’t hang it above anywhere your head spends much time, just sayin’). As well as the poster, we’re also throwing in a Vampire Diaries soundtrack and a set of the Stefan’s Diaries books. One lucky winner gets it all.

Sorry international fans, but this is open to people who live in the UK only. You have until Tuesday, May 17th at MIDNIGHT GMT to get your entry in! We will randomly choose and notify the winner by Wednesday, May 18th.

You may enter by using the form below or via Twitter by tweeting this text (you may enter via both methods, but one each! And you must be following @tvdnews and @ITV2 to win with a Twitter entry!):

CONTEST CLOSED, THANKS FOR PLAYING!

From here on out we’re just going to have a standard warning to have a box of tissues on hand, and to make sure that you’ve put your seatbelts on. Because honestly? Just when you think the ride can’t get any wilder, the writers give us yet another episode with more twists than the Corkscrew at Alton Towers (may it rest in peace), and make us sob our eyes out at every turn.
