Team Tyler t-shirtVampire Support are teaming up with Michael Trevino on a new project to help save the wolves and raise money for Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in Southern California.

Vampire Support are currently selling “Team Tyler” t-shirts, and will also be selling “Team Tyler” wristbands in a few weeks. All proceeds from these sales will be going to Wolf Mountain.

It’s also possible to adopt a wolf at the sanctuary, so if that’s something that interests you, Vampire Support also have more information on that.

Vampire-Diaries.net & Vampire Support at EyeCon Vampire Diaries Convention this weekend! This weekend is the long-awaited EyeCon Vampire Diaries Convention, March 25-27, when fans the world (!!!) over will converge on Atlanta, Georgia for two and a half days of TVD goodness. I (Vee) and our very own episode recapper/author Crissy Calhoun will be in attendance, holding down the fort at the ECW Press/Smart Pop Books booth in the EyeCon Vendors’ Room. We will be selling/signing our books: Love You To Death: The Unofficial Companion to The Vampire Diaries by Crissy Calhoun (ECW Press) and A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls: Your Favorite Authors on The Vampire Diaries, edited by Red & myself (Smart Pop Books). We will also have lots of other titles from ECW and Smart Pop! Crissy and I would love to meet you, talk TVD with you (I’m especially obsessed with hearing your sacrifice theories at the moment, the more crazycakes, the better!), and sign your books (if you already have them, please bring them with you!). If you don’t come to our booth and talk to us, we’ll have to pass the time singing “Wuthering Heights” and doing an interpretive dance. No one wants that, so stop by and distract us with stunning conversation!

If you caught our interview on The VRO this past Wednesday (missed it? listen here!), you know we have some cool plans in store. In addition to Vampire-Diaries.net and Vampire Support teaming up to cover the big event (wi-fi/phone networks willing!) via our blogs and Twitter (make sure you follow @tvdnews and @VampireSupport), we’re also collaborating on what we’ve dubbed a “Fandom Photo Booth.” We want to showcase YOU, the fans in attendance. Check out Chloe’s video explaining the details:

We really hope you’ll stop by the “photo booth” and have a blast. We’re excited about TVD fans bringing their personalities and originality to this and can’t wait to feature the final results on the blog and in the Gallery.

As you may have heard by now, Vampire Support has landed an exclusive video interview with Ian Somerhalder about all things Ian Somerhalder Foundation – but that’s not the only TVD cast member Ms. Chloe will be chatting with this weekend. Michael Trevino has been awesome enough to grant a video interview as well and we’re going to be gathering fan questions for him. Stay tuned tomorrow for a post all about it and start getting creative!

The Ian Somerhalder Foundation

Happy 32nd Birthday, Ian!

To help celebrate his birthday, Ian’s wish this year is for his fans (and fans of the Vampire Diaries!) to band together for a good cause, and donate $32 to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation to help change our world for the better. It doesn’t have to be $32 – it can be more, it can be less. But if you have a few spare dollars lurking around, every little bit donated to the cause is greatly appreciated. You can visit the Ian Somerhalder Foundation website for a message from Ian and more information on donating.

And on the subject of supporting the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, you can also donate to the cause by purchasing a t-shirt from the Vampire Support T-shirt Project (in partnership with Mystic Falls Tours), which is aiming to raise money for the The National Wildlife Federation via the Foundation. Head on over to Vampire Support for more details and to place your order.

Vampire Support's T-shirt projectChloe and Amber over at Vampire Support (along with Jess over at Mystic Falls Tours) have been working on their first project with their Pepsi grant. The Vampire Support T-shirt Project is aiming to raise money for the Ian Somerhalder Foundation, and the Foundation will be earmarking that money for projects with The National Wildlife Federation.

The t-shirt image (to your left) is designed to appeal to vampire fans, and both human and animal rights activists, and can be yours for $25 (including shipping). If you want to check out the design in higher resolution, or order a t-shirt for yourself (and your family and friends, while you’re at it), head on over to Vampire Support. Carina MacKenzie has all kinds of interesting little tidbits from New York Comic Con this weekend. From the possibility of Matt and Stefan’s future friendship to Katherine coming face to face with some our our human favourites, Carina has a whole range of Vampire Diaries gossip. On top of that, she’s also got the latest from Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson on Damon. Is he worthy enough for Elena? Perhaps not yet, but he’s working towards it. And for those wondering about the long-term regarding stories on the show, Julie and Kevin have already thought about that:

“The Vampire Diaries” may lend itself to a “monster-of-the-week” structure.
Though this won’t be established until much further down the road, Plec says that the show may take a different approach at some point, similar to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” or “Supernatural.”

“Eventually, there’s going to be a formula that will grow out of the show and the storytelling that’ll be a little bit more amenable to the monster of the week, the demon of the week,” she says. “But until then we’re going to keep building one brick at a time.”

There are some juicy spoilers up on Popwrap that you’ll all probably be interested, ranging from Jeremy to possible returning characters and to Katherine. On the subject of Katherine, book fans will be delighted to learn that we’ll be meeting Katherine’s maker at some point. So waddya make of that, sport? ;)

There’s video from the press room featuring Kevin Williamson and Zach Roerig over on Nice Girls TV:

Vampire Support are holding a contest to design them a logo for use on their website and various pieces of the merchandise they produce for charity. The winner of the contest will receive a vampire support shirt of their choice. The contest closes in two weeks. You can head on over to the Vampire Support website to enter. From their contest page:

We would like the logo to simply say “Vampire Support”. Currently we are using the “Vampire Fans Support Gulf Aid” and we feel that is more of our mission, then the logo itself.

Colors- We would like to see, black, purple and blue. Red may be used if you decide to do blood splatter but we ask it not to be used in the logo itself. Optional color will be yellow.

Size- 3000×3000 so we can size it for graphics later on.

Calling all Vampire Diaries fans! The Gulf oil spill is something that has had a tragic impact on everyone in one way or another. Those fine ladies over at Vampire Support and Vampire Stalkers want to hear about your thoughts on the disaster in the form of an essay, and the winning essay writer will receive their choice of a vampire support t-shirt and a feature on the aforementioned websites. In their own words:

We are looking for someone to write a short essay on their feelings about the oil spill in the gulf. Although a lot of us don’t live on the coast, the effect of this has gone worldwide. Vampire Support has shown us we can all make a difference. In your words, tell us what YOU think can be done to help the situation in the gulf and to make a permanent change for the future. Give us your ideas along with your experiences in how this has affected you or someone you know personally. Don’t hold back, we really want to hear how you feel!

The contest is open until noon, September 3rd and, yes, this one is open to international fans, too. :) Head over to the Vampire Stalkers website for more details and instructions for submitting your entry.

Sometimes things are too incredible not to share: The signed Vampire Diaries pilot script auction ended only moments ago and the top bid hovered near $800 for most of the evening. Then, in the last ten minutes, there was flurry of furious bidding. The final result?

XX

HUGE CONGRATS to the lucky winner and to Chloe and Amber of Vampire Support for rocking in those funds for the National Wildlife Federation! Next time someone tells you fandom can’t make a difference? Tell ‘em where to stick it.
