Carina MacKenzie has all kinds of interesting little tidbits from New York Comic Con this weekend. From the possibility of Matt and Stefan’s future friendship to Katherine coming face to face with some our our human favourites, Carina has a whole range of Vampire Diaries gossip. On top of that, she’s also got the latest from Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson on Damon. Is he worthy enough for Elena? Perhaps not yet, but he’s working towards it. And for those wondering about the long-term regarding stories on the show, Julie and Kevin have already thought about that:
“The Vampire Diaries” may lend itself to a “monster-of-the-week” structure.
Though this won’t be established until much further down the road, Plec says that the show may take a different approach at some point, similar to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” or “Supernatural.”
“Eventually, there’s going to be a formula that will grow out of the show and the storytelling that’ll be a little bit more amenable to the monster of the week, the demon of the week,” she says. “But until then we’re going to keep building one brick at a time.”
There are some juicy spoilers up on Popwrap that you’ll all probably be interested, ranging from Jeremy to possible returning characters and to Katherine. On the subject of Katherine, book fans will be delighted to learn that we’ll be meeting Katherine’s maker at some point. So waddya make of that, sport? ;)
There’s video from the press room featuring Kevin Williamson and Zach Roerig over on Nice Girls TV:
Vampire Support are holding a contest to design them a logo for use on their website and various pieces of the merchandise they produce for charity. The winner of the contest will receive a vampire support shirt of their choice. The contest closes in two weeks. You can head on over to the Vampire Support website to enter. From their contest page:
We would like the logo to simply say “Vampire Support”. Currently we are using the “Vampire Fans Support Gulf Aid” and we feel that is more of our mission, then the logo itself.
Colors- We would like to see, black, purple and blue. Red may be used if you decide to do blood splatter but we ask it not to be used in the logo itself. Optional color will be yellow.
Size- 3000×3000 so we can size it for graphics later on.
NYC’s PIX catches up with the Vampire Diaries cast and executive producers in the New York Comic Con press room and they talk about their characters (lots from Sara!), what’s coming in Mystic Falls, and Julie Plec even has a pretty wicked tease in relation to Damon and Katherine…
With HUGE thanks to the always fabulous Tasha over at I Heart Vampire Diaries for the heads up: A good chunk of today’s New York Comic Con Vampire Diaries panel – featuring Steven R. McQueen, Sara Canning, Katerina Graham, Zach Roerig, Julie Plec, Kevin Williamson, and moderator Carina MacKenzie – up on YouTube. Thanks to PhillyFilmGirl for getting it up so quickly!
Also: Second video, 4:00 mark. We heart our showrunners. Seriously.
The short promo for episode 6 of the Vampire Diaries, Plan B, is now up. Usual super spoilery warnings (especially if you haven’t watched Kill Or Be Killed). And, sorry guys, but we have to wait two whole weeks for this episode, which will air on Thursday, October 21st, and is the first part of a two-parter for Halloween. Given the Vampire Diaries is known for ending on terrible cliffhangers in their regular episodes, we dread to think what torture they have in mind for the end of Plan B…
Thanks to MiI2aCIe for the video. UPDATE: Added official CW embed.
It’s Thursday and that means a new installment of the CW’s Ford Fiesta Inside the Vampire Diaries Video Series. This week, host Candice Accola takes fans on behind the scenes tour of the Salvatore Boarding House, library, Stefan’s bedroom (we’re still utterly in love with this set), and the Lockwood house. She also talks with Garreth Stover, production designer for The Vampire Diaries. This segment is wonderful – really highlights the tinest details that go into creating the world of Mystic Falls.

Maddie of Candice Accola Web dropped us a line asking if we could help spread the word on her fan project, which is operating under a very tight deadline! As we all know, Candice (and Ian Somerhalder) will be appearing at the Hot Topic in Texas this weekend, and that just so happens to be Maddie’s hometown. She’s putting together a “fan book” of messages, artwork, etc. from fans, and also invites the Lyme awareness community to thank Candice for her support of the cause. The deadline to participate is October 7th! The book will be gifted to Candice on October 9th. Get all of the details on how you can participate.
And the lovely Kaylie from We Met Through TVD (a Twitter-based fan community) is also putting together an epic fan project. Why don’t we let Kaylie explain what this project is all about via the video below.
And don’t forget about Ian Somerhalder’s Birthday Project (with the tie-in to St. Tammany’s Humane Society) over at Blood Falls.
And now a Kill Or Be Killed webclip, featuring a tense conversation between Stefan and Mason and a rather hilarious sudden appearance by Damon. (“What are ya doin’?”) What do you think? Who’s at fault for escalating tensions?
The CW has posted the extended promo for next week’s episode, Kill Or Be Killed. Why do we have such a bad feeling about this?
Next week’s episode of the Vampire Diaries, Kill Or Be Killed, looks set to be jam-packed full of more action and surprises. And that’s just in the short promo! Big, fat, spoiler warning in place. Just sayin’.
The CW has posted the first installment of the Ford Fiesta Inside the Vampire Diaries Video Series, hosted by the lovely (and oh-so-charming) Candice Accola. And fantastic news, international fans – Red’s in the UK and he’s able to watch it, even though this video is on the CW site.
In this video, Candice interviews Vampire Diaries’ executive producer, Kevin Williamson, who fields a slew of fan questions. Kevin even turns the tables and asks Candice a question as well. We’re also treated to a preview of what we can expect later in the series, including segments with the show’s production and costume designers.
