Ian Somerhalder in August Man Nov. 2009Ian Somerhalder is featured in the November issue of August Man and Just Jared has a slew of photos and choice quotes from the accompanying interview.

On his ideal role: “The one I’m doing right now, actually.”

Even the geeks are at it now! GeekSugar picks the newest gadgets that Stefan Salvatore should own, including a MacBook Pro, a Buster Brown Box Camera, a Luxeed Dynamic Pixel LED Keyboard (Vee note: WANT!), a BlackBerry Storm 2, and (our favourite) a Book and Gadget Vault. Snazzy!

Kayla Ewell graces the October cover of Salon City’s BE! (Beauty Entertainment) magazine:

During her Beauty Entertainment interview Kayla reveals, “Our series is filled with love, mystery, sex and an unquenchable longing for something that’s just over the other side. That is the allure of the vampire.” Famed Hollywood photographer John Russo shot Ewell for BE!’s cover and feature.

Nina Dobrev on the cover of Elle Bulgaria Nov. 2009According to MagXone, Nina Dobrev is featured on Elle Bulgaria’s November 2009 cover. Thanks to the Fashion Spot forums for the cover image, though additional confirmation of the cover would be rad.

And finally, we have an assortment of random videos that some of your may be interested in. Hollywood 411 asks celebrities what makes me scream – Ian and Paul are briefly featured near the end, Nina signing autographs at the SCREAM Awards show, and a behind the scenes video of a Kayla Ewell photoshoot with photographer Kate sZatmari.

Videography talks to Retrofit Films co-founders Chris Hanada and Tanner Kling about A Darker Truth, the Vampire Diaries webisode series.

In conjunction with the Web series’ director of photography, Fred Schroeder, the Retrofit team decided to use two different cameras to provide these two different looks, so that viewers would be able to distinguish immediately between what was supposed to be the product of a character’s video camera and those shots that were designed to look like objective coverage of the events that transpire.

The CW has posted up the third episode of A Darker Truth. Many thanks to EMI for the headsup! This is little earlier than we were expecting, probably to do with the fact that the last episode of this would air after the Vampire Diaries premieres next Thursday if they kept it to weekly. Anyhow, in this episode our intrepid hero, Jason, makes a gruesome discovery in the forest…

Update: English subtitles, Portuguese subtitles (thanks Wilson!) and Spanish subtitles (thanks Keiran!).

On that note, there are links to videos with English, Portuguese and Spanish subtitles for both previous episodes on our A Darker Truth page. The SRT subtitle files are also available there for anyone who’d like to translate them into other languages. Portuguese and Spanish subtitles are covered, but translations for any other languages would be very welcome.

The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesWe rounded up this factoid last night and weren’t quite 100% on it; seeing as the name popped up in our comments too, we feel pretty confident in saying that our Jason Harris in the Vampire Diaries: A Darker Truth webisodes is an actor by the name of Matt Perello. The only major credit we could find to his name is a film called Last Bullet. You can see his bio on the film’s website. (Thanks to Danielle and jlgparis for the info.)

Also: The start of our Vampire Diaries Episode Index is now up. Not much there now as we await network synopses and some titles for post-Pilot episodes, but you can get an idea for how we’re planning to organize it. The landing page will be fairly streamlined, with the bulk of info for each episode living elsewhere on the site. (And can we just mention that we’re getting more and more excited about adding to this? And soon? A note about the episode numbering: We went with the production numbers to avoid confusing the slew of you who follow the production team/cast on Twitter. If you’re still confused why you see different episode numbers elsewhere, check out the infobox on the Pilot episode entry in the Wiki for clarification.)

  • [Images] Obviously this will link to that episode’s stills in our Media Gallery.
  • [Spoilers] In an effort to curb some of the more spoilery spec here on the blog, spoilers will now live in the Spoiler Zone in our discussion forum. There are two reasons for this: 1) We wanted to make the choice to seek out spoilers just that – a choice. If you click into the Spoiler Zone and then come crying to us about being spoiled, we won’t have any sympathy for you, and 2) relegating the spoilers to the discussion forum will make it easier for people to talk about them freely, away from virgin eyes. That said, we’ve removed a lot of specifics from the spoilers posted (and context). From this point forward, we’re into building anticipation (and we know some of you live for spoilers), not ruining major plot points. That said, this doesn’t mean we’re eliminating spoilery topics from the blog completely and we’ll continue to use the spoiler banner to give a heads up. (And now “spoiler” doesn’t even sound like a real word anymore after all of that.)
  • [Wiki Entry] This is where you will find expanded info about each episode, including a detailed synopsis (after the episode has aired in the U.S.), other cast info, trivia, production details, music, quotes, reviews, etc. And it’s as good as you help make it, so why not sign up for the Wiki and help out?

SpoilerTV has an synopsis for “Night of the Comet” (1.01 or episode 2) up on their site, via the CW. If you want a play-by-play of the ep, by all means – have at it. If you’d rather have a general, abbreviated version, you can check it out on the Episode Index page.

And finally, we have a slew of new spoilers up. Again, visit the Episode Index to pick your poison.

Vampire Diaries RoseSince we posted the first webisode video last night, more information has been revealed thanks to Tubefilter news. It seems that A Darker Truth is a four-episode prequel web series which will lead us up to (and through, looking at the way the dates stack up) the premiere of the Vampire Diaries TV series on September 10th. It’s certainly nice to have something new to tide us over these last 15 painful days of waiting. ;)

The web series is being produced by Retrofit Films, and was written by staff co-producer Sean Reycraft. The cast of the TV series won’t be appearing in it themselves (though the web series will be using clips and stills from its TV series parent), with new characters played by web-only actors being used instead (we don’t have information about who these actors yet). Episodes are set to be released every Tuesday.

We’ve set up A Darker Truth page on the site where we’ll be adding the episodes once they’ve been released, along with links to videos subtitled into other languages. If you know of a subtitled version in a language we haven’t listed on the page, please contact us so we can add the link.

In completely unrelated news, the Vampire Diaries set was invaded by a bunch of vicious and bloodthirsty animals today. Here’s some photographic evidence of Ian Somerhalder being mauled by one of them courtesy of the folks over at MediaBlvd. It’s all very tragic.

Looks like we have a webisode series to tie in to the show. Titled A Darker Truth, it follows a guy named Jason searching for his sister’s killer in Mystic Falls. We get a nice peek at the interior of the Mystic Grill, learn that Zach is indeed 100%-for-sure Zach Salvatore, and…well, you can watch it to learn the rest.
