AfterElton.com did a set visit recently, and spoke with Ian Somerhalder, Zach Roerig and Joseph Morgan about all things TVD.
In this article, the actors talk about their respective characters, shooting on location and the effects of their hectic schedules. Joseph Morgan touches on an issue of interest to many: whether or not Klaus is softening up.
“I think we are transitioning to making him a little more sympathetic,” Morgan observed. “We’re starting to learn the motives behind why he does what he does. But I think just like in life everything isn’t always polarized. He’s not good or bad. He’s layered. So, the more we learn about him the more maybe we’ll empathize or sympathize with him, but he’s always going to have done the things he’s done…I personally hope that he doesn’t just suddenly miraculously become good. I feel like there should be a chance of redemption for everyone, but he’s still going to carry that stuff with him.”

Yesterday, members of the media were invited to a special screening of tonight’s new (and highly anticipated) episode of The Vampire Diaries: Dangerous Liaisons (EP314), and they’re hinting we can expect healthy doses of angst alongside those sharp tuxes and glittering ballgowns. Is anyone surprised? First up, members of the TVD cast – Zach Roerig, Candice Accola, Kat Graham, Nina Dobrev – tease what’s coming tonight and in future episodes in another E!Online set visit video.
As for the finished product, E!Online has this to tease (SPOILERS):
Elena shares some very intense moments with both Salvatore brothers, including a scene where one of the brothers drops three very important words. Fans of both couples should prepare for some major angst, including Elena hurting Damon and possibly causing the return of the old Damon. We won’t lie, we kind of missed him!
On a related note, Zap2It also teases the triangle and five other things about tonight’s episode (SPOILERS):
Elena is caught in a virtual tug-of-war throughout the episode (at one point, they literally each have her by the arm). The question, as always, is whether Stefan can find it in himself to care about Elena — and whether or not she still wants him to care about her at this point. That will pretty much be answered by the end of the hour. Per usual, Paul Wesley’s performance will give you goose bumps.
Julie Plec was on hand for a Q&A during the episode screening yesterday, and The Insider has this amusing tidbit to share:
When I asked her about the likelihood of non-Mystic Falls law enforcement agents ever coming to town (ya know, like if this mysterious stabber continues his/her reign of terror for much longer), Julie said, “Truth be told we’ve had the “FBI Agents Come to Town” pitch on the board since episode three of season one. As this thought that somebody, at some point, is going to have to come to this town and be like, ‘What the hell is going on here?!? Sheriff you’re fired!’”
And if you need even more photos from Dangerous Liaisons, Hollywood Life has a handful of exclusive behind-the-scenes photos from filming.

HuffPost TV talked to Zach Roerig about Matt’s future in Mystic Falls and also got him to solve that eternal riddle: Why exactly is Matt so perfect?
“I think it makes for easy competition when he’s surrounded by werewolves, witches and vampires. [Laughs.] Matt’s perfect in the sense that he’s pure. Matt’s the only pure person left with no ulterior motives, no other intentions than just being a good man.”
And whether he wants Matt to turn supernatural:
“There’s always been a small desire because it could be fun, but I’m also kind of honored to be the one that’s not. On our show, everyone has some kind of power, but everything that’s happened with Matt has happened because of who he is, without anything fueling it.”
He also discusses Matt’s relationship with Elena – and who he’ll dance with at the ball tonight.

Who’s ready for Matt Donovan to step up? We are! We are! So is Zach Roerig, who spoke a bit about Matt’s state of mind in this interview with TV Fanatic.
“His friends are starting to see that they can lean on him when they’re feeling low,” Zach Roerig just told me over the phone. “And Matt is starting to realize none of them should have to live this way. He’s kind of sick of all this sh-it.”
Zach goes on to talk about his role as the lone human among the Mystic Falls teenagers, and how his character is evolving, thinking smarter and becoming more serious about being there for his friends…even in risky situations. READ THE FULL INTERVIEW AT TV FANATIC.
What, you want more Matt news? We can do that! Zach Roerig also spoke with Zap2it, and reveals that Matt Donovan may have more skills than we previously considered.
“Matt Donovan is a jack of many trades!” he laughs. “Do you know how many books Matt reads? What else is he doing with his time? The only reason Matt is so polite – he’s never had a father figure, no one to lead by example – so the way I see it, Matt obviously has read Emily Post’s Guide to Etiquette. He hangs out in the break room at the Grill and teaches himself to dance. Clearly.”
Team Matt, are you still with us? Take some deep breaths and then READ THE REST OF THE INTERVIEW AT ZAP2IT. Just remember, it’s been a pretty amazing day for Vampire Diaries fans, so pace yourselves, okay?
If you STILL need a little more to get you through until tomorrow night, Entertainment Weekly has a special video edition of their Spoiler Room feature. It includes a section with Nina Dobrev talking about tomorrow night’s episode, Dangerous Liaisons (EP314). WATCH THE SPOILER ROOM VIDEO HERE AT ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY.

Terron Moore of Ology just had brunch with Joseph Morgan, Zach Roerig, and Ian Somerhalder and got a nice serving of inside information, jokes, and TVD analogies to everyone from Batman to Yogi Bear to Kublai Khan. Warning: Spoilers through The Ties That Bind (EP312)! On Klaus’s trust issues:
JOSEPH: I think that there’s potential for him to change, yes, but it’s going to be really difficult. Because as well as being selfish, he’s incredibly paranoid. He’s spent the last 1000 years maintaining this lie he’s told his siblings. He’s the product of a dysfunctional family, having this horrible relationship with his father, being a bastard child, not feeling accepted by the rest of his family… so I think he has real issues with trust…
IAN: I feel like Klaus is what happened with Rome, or like, Kublai Khan. He’s created this empire of deceit, and he has to keep it down to protect himself.
Plus, Assignment X recently caught up with Candice Accola and asked her about shipping, stunts, and more. On how her dance training has helped:
“By no means was I going to be a professional dancer, but I grew up taking dance classes down the street and that’s actually been the most helpful in the stunt work, counting out the steps and “five, six, seven, eight, and punch.” It is funny how those little things that you learned as a kid that you don’t think are going to translate, all of a sudden, as an adult, they help you out in your job. So that was something that I did physically when I was young.”
