L.J. Smith has been writing books for Young Adults since the 1980s, mostly in the supernatural and fantasy genre. After a 10 year hiatus between 1998 and 2008, L.J. Smith is back with a new Vampire Diaries trilogy, and has the long-awaited Strange Fate - the final book in the Night World series - in the works.

Back in 1996, Her Interactive produced a PC game based on the Vampire Diaries. While the story only loosely resembles that of the books, fans have fond memories of it due to the crackish nature of the game, and for Damon's awesome 90s hairstyle.
