Agreed! As much as I enjoy the scary parts of the show. Would it hurt the writers to give a little romance between Elena and her I guess boyfiend Stefan? It just doesn’t sound right with Elena always hanging out with Damon, trying to save Mystic Falls. I guess Damon and Elena are going to be together sooner then we all think. If I were Stefan I’d be getting a little tired of a girlfriend obviously chasing my brother and thinking she can go up against vampire and werewolves. On the flip side, looking forward to Mason.

Can’t wait for the sexy new werewolf Mason. He is hot and will really give the show added bonus of another great looking guy. Bonnie should go on the road trip she is gorgeous and so powerful.

i can’t wait dalaric and delena on a roadtrip! but why isn’t stefan coming? and especially after he finds out about the kiss on founder’s day? hmmm… i’m not complaining about the lack of stefan i’m just confused.can’t wait for the FULL MOON…

Another Damon and Elena roadtrip, I guess? I would like to see Stefan take a road trip with a gorgeous gal. Then maybe Elena would stop acting the way she does with someone(Damon) who obviously has feelings for her. It’s nice she wants to be nice to Damon but come on. He has feelings for her, why lead him on. As for Stefan, isn’t Elena suppose to be his girlfriend. Feel bad for Stefan. Why not let one of the other gals take the trip. Or here is a thought, spend time with your boyfriend.

Why can’t Stefan go?! Come on, Damon and Elena already went on a roadtrip together, they should’ve brought Bonnie too. I mean we need to see Bonnie kick some ass soon to see what shes got.

Personally, I’m thrilled Stefan isn’t going. Could mean shaky ground for him and Elena, plus road trips seem to prove good for Damon and Elena :) their screentime together is my favorite part of the show, I live on those two. Happy Ric is going! Hopefully that Vanessa chick won’t mess anything up between Damon and Elena :-/ anyone else a little scared at the severe lack of Katherine mentionings for episodes 2 and 3? If this is the year of the Kat, where is she? Creepy how we don’t have a clue…if she’s off lurking…oh dear. And I doubt Bonnie would be going anywhere with Damon and Elena, considering all of the stuff about how she takes her anger out on Damon in ep.2. Can’t he catch a break?!? Poor Damon. Always gets the short end of the stick.

It is logical that Stefan stays to protect the town with Katherine lurking about and the new werewolf threat, among other things.Bonnie’s witchcraft powers might also be needed to keep Mystic Falls safe in their absence.Alaric has contacts at Duke University, Elena is Isobel’s daughter, and Damon is along for protection.It makes more sense for Stefan and Bonnie to stay behind, rather than Damon and Bonnie since they do not get along at all.  

I guess I’m confused as to why Damon needs to be the one to “protect” Elena instead of Stefan? Couldn’t they reverse roles? And why is Elena running off with Damon? It’s not like she can tell herself that they’re just friends, she’ll probably know by then that Damon wanted to kiss her. I don’t get how Stefan would be comfortable with Damon going with her, as well as Elena. Come on, Elena, be a good girlfriend, like you usually are, and stay in character. I’m confused and hope that the writers will provide us with a good explanation for this happening.

It’s because they can’t exactly trust Damon to protect Mystic Falls can they especially with Katherine on the loose? He doesn’t really have any reason to want to protect the town and he could pretty much side with Katherine at any time. So it would be left up to Stefan and Bonnie’s probably also there for support. And Elena’s probably going because the brothers want to get her as far away from Katherine as possible since she’s in the most danger. So I’m pretty sure the romantic advances of Damon are pretty trivial when compared to the danger that’s on Elena’s life now that Katherine’s back. That being said, I hope there’s lots of Damon and Elena action. I love them together.

Come ON, people? Chemistry between Bonnie and Damon? In the finale, she threatened to take him down in the blink of an eye! And in the synopsis for ep. 2, looks like she’s gonna keep her promise and attack him! Not exactly lovebirds, if you ask me. Bamon won’t be happening anytime soon (thank the Lord)

Damon is the STRONGER of the two brothers. Elena will always be safer with him. He will not let one hair on her head be harmed. Stefan is weak. Either he has been injured by a werewolf attack, or he is with Katherine. Stefan will be influenced by Katherine more than Damon. For 145 years Damon stayed true in his love for Katherine and lifted heaven & earth to get her out of the tomb. Only to find out she “played” him. Remember…Damon gets even. He is not going to get over his anger just because she shows up. Damon as a Vampire has used women (like Caroline) as his minion to serve a purpose. However, Damon is a one woman man and he loves Elena. His loyalty is to her.

Would if Katherine is pretending to be Elena either to Stefan, or to Damon & Alaric during the roadtrip. Yikes! That would be an interesting turn of events. We know Katherine loves to play games.

I want me some Stefan and Elena please!I agreee Elena should stay with Stefan. It would be nice to have Bonnie go with them, i think the chemistry between Damon and Bonnie is great!I was always rooting for them in the books :)But yay for some more Damon and Alaric Bromance….but please give me some STELENA ROMANCE

Again, what chemistry between Bonnie & Damon? Damon is in love with Elena. In the books, the “romance” between Bonnie and Damon was short lived and lasted about 20 pages. Give me a break!!!!!!!! Please do not confuse the show with the books. The two are separate and entirely different.

Obviously some of you need to pay more attention…..Bonnie threatened the boys last season. Why would she go on a road trip with Damon & Alaric? Somebody please help me understand all the “Bonnie Love” here? She lied to Elena, and her actions from that lie put the entire town in danger. Why would Damon, Stephan or Elena want her around?

You have to remember as a witch she has absolutely no reason to like the Salvatore brothers. They’re vampires and they’ve killed people in the town so what reason does she have to like them? Personally I think she’s quite relateable to the audience especially when compared to Elena. Elena’s totally turned a blind eye to everything Damon and Stefan have done and neglected every aspect of her life that doesn’t regard them so I could totally see why many people would identify more with Bonnie.

Why would Bonnie not like the brothers when her ancestor, Emily, helped them when they were transitioning? Also, Emily was completely loyal to Katherine. Emiy also made a pact with Damon in exchange for Katherine’s safety to protect Emily’s lineage. Damon protected everyone in that family for 145 years. He only harmed Bonnie when Emily took her body over and broke that pact. He wasn’t acting out against Bonnie, he was enraged at Emily. As to Elena putting her life on hold….Elena looks at the growth of each of the boys. You can’t help to notice that Damon has grown more than any character on the show. The show is about one girl torn between the two vampire brothers. It has nothing to do with Bonnie other than she’s supposed to be Elena’s friend. Personally, I think she has failed miserably with that.

I think Damon,Alaric,an Elena are going beacause they are closer to isobel.Alaric was her husband.Damon turned her and they knew each other.Elena was her daughter.Stefan didn’t really have much to do with her.I do agree though that we need more stelena scenes.

Perhaps the confusion of what the Vampire Diaries series is about will be cleared up if you all read the article posted on this website entitled “Countdown to The Return: What’s wrong with a Salvatore on each arm?” It is very insightful. It accurately describes the love story between Elena, a human girl, emotionally torn between the two Vampire brothers and how each brother’s view of Elena is so different. No matter how you slice it, that is the premise of the show. The supporting cast (Bonnie, Jeremy, Caroline, Matt, Alaric, Tyler, Mason etc) are just that, the supporting cast with side stories and interactions with the main characters. But at the end of the day, it is all about Damon, Elena, Stefan and their love story.

After reading the article, I am even more convinced that the better choice for Elena is DAMON. Of course I am totally in the TEAM DAMON CAMP…..

In regards to the growth that Damon has experienced that Vamp Lover pointed out, it came at the expense of many people in Mystic Falls. Why would Elena care about the growth he is experiencing considering the people he has killed along the way and his mistreatment to Caroline who is supposed to be one of her closest friends? Don’t get me wrong, Damon is my favourite character on the show, but even I am not willing to ignore his faults and pretend he’s some sort of saint. Because he’s not, he is a complex character who still has many issues to deal with.

Yes, you are correct. Damon has many faults. I guess my viewpoint is that you can’t compare the killing, harming ect.. that has been done on the show to human standards. It’s vampires that we are dealing with and obviousley they deal with things very differently. I don’t think Damon cared who he harmed when he first came to town. But by the end of the season, he came to care a great deal about all of them. That’s what I meant by “growth”. I also think Elena cares for him because of that “growth”. Elena obviousley has a very forgiving heart, or she would not have forgiven either of the boys for their faults, which she seems to have done.
