We’re seeing chatter that the CW 2009-2010 schedule has been released (still looking for it!) and that the network has paired The Vampire Diaries with Supernatural on Thursdays (pushing Smallville to Fridays). More details coming as we confirm.

UPDATE Via The Hollywood Reporter, CW sets ‘Supernatural’ Thursdays:

The CW may be the latest network to make a bold move on Thursday.

After days of rumblings, the CW is said to have settled on launching the hot new drama “Vampire Diaries” Thursday 8 p.m., paired with “Supernatural.” “Vampire Diaries” would replace the staple in the time slot, departing veteran “Smallville,” whose final ninth season would air on Friday, probably at 8 p.m.

UPDATE And Deadline Hollywood Daily has just posted the full CW schedule:

THURSDAY
8PM VAMPIRE DIARIES
9PM SUPERNATURAL

Wow, CW. We didn’t think you had it in you.

I, for one, am waiting for all the awesome ad campaigns that could come from having two shows with two sets of hot brothers on in one evening. BRING IT ON!

eeks… they moved smallville? i’ve grown to love SV and SPN paired together. two very underrated shows that is getting very little love from the network when it came to promoting. i love that they’re keeping supernatural where it is though.

while i like the thought of the CW promoting TVD together with SPN, it still doesn’t make up for the face that the CW ignored promoting SPN (a show what brings in more ratings than their beloved gossip girl) properly for four years. at least not to me.

I think it is pretty lucky for VD to be before Supernatural. Will probably grab some of the younger audience that just watches SPN for the hot guys, and perhaps even some of the folks that watch it for the mythology and the hot guys :D

Good lord – I’m a season and a half behind on Supernatural, too. I have a feeling I’m just going to break down and buy all of the DVD sets this summer.

And I really, really hope the CW is thinking long and hard about BOTH ends of the spectrum when it comes to their audience. I get the romantic bent of the current promos – I totally do. It’s Stefan and Elena’s story at the end of the day and they’re aiming for the TwiHards.

But the older kids, who are still well within the CW’s target demographic? It’s about blood and badassery. And I’ll take mine with a side of sex, thankyouverymuch.

Buh… whu… a season and a half behind?! O_O Good lord, woman, remedy that sharply!

Yeah, I remain hopeful that there will be blood, badassery, and sexiness on a stick. I mean, Damon’s already throwing Stefan around in the first episode, and he’s not unleashing the whupass we know he’s capable of. Really, he’s just playing with Stefan at this point. Wait until he gets really ticked off. ;)
