I thought things were changing too in S3 until they took Stefan and Elena’s behavior and did a 180 putting them both back exactly where they were in S1 where he is back in control (miraculously not 30 years later but only a few eps) and Elena is needy and weak. As you’ve mentioned Damon’s leadership and help is welcome when they need him especially to do the dirty work but then when he does and all is back to normal he’s a piece of shit again. Hmmm use people much?
