I hope that is really Katherine and not a hallucination. I have missed that little vixen. If it is Katherine, maybe they brought her in to help because she killed a “true hunter” in the past and came through it unscathed, plus she is a doppelganger too.

Where do you turn? we see the “hypnotist” and stefan saying “let me help you”

Who do you trust? Elena sees Damon and says “NO!”

Then we get: Stefan : “tell me what I need to do to end this…”

I wanted to give up on the trailer at that point. In the words of Damon… “Oh Stefan… Ever the knight in shining armour…”

I think she is freaking out about to hallucinate when she says “no” and runs from Damon because he seems surprised like it came out of nowhere.

Lost her memory…I forgot about that. Could be or it’s just her hallucinations getting to her distorting them in her mind like they’re out to hurt her not help her. Remember when Damon and Rose got bit and were hallucinating they were out of sorts too.

I think Kat might be a hallucination simply because of the timing of her return. Guess we’ll find out soon.

Also wanted to add her running from Damon might be just before the still where they show her looking like a freightened wild animal and Damon is approaching her cautiously. As for Stefa, well you know.

Someone had suggested that maybe she comes back briefly because Klaus is in Italy and she tries to help Elena. If that’s true knowing how manipulative Kat is (I love that about her) she would probably do it for her own agenda.

They mixed up different scenes, Damon is in Elena’s kitchen so may be they were talking and Elena turns around and leave him in the middle of the chat(?)

Elena REALLY drew the short straw with the whole vampire thing. She can’t drink from animals or bags, and the first person she kills gives her horrific hallucinations.

Now that i watched the webclip i can say that Damon and Stefan were in the kitchen, then Klaus arrived and talk outside with Stefan. Elena is taking a shower when suddenly shout scared, and Damon (“Elena!!???”) worried go to see what happened :D

Katherine is an hallucination, i’m sure of it. We haven’t seen her since 3×09 so if she were to come back they wouldn’t show it in the promo. They would keep it a secret to surprise the wiewers. It would be in a cliffhanger or something like that. In a way that no one would have seen coming…

My God Nina is a good actress! Just the way she plays Kat……..JUST SPEECHLESS! I can’t say enough nice things about her. She’s just tremendous. That last part where Kat shows up and she gives her “did you miss me” comment — the way Nina delivered that line and her facial expressions, was just INCREDIBLE! JUST UNBELIEVABLE! I’m so happy she’s on this show. *Exhales* lol

By my last comment/testimonial it’s not a stretch to say who my favorite actor on this show is. She always raises her game when she plays Katherine. You can tell how good of an actress she is by how believably different Elena is to Katherine. Nina’s just tremendous. Underrated too.

He is certainly hotter than season 3, but nothing beats Damon’s hotness from season 1. The man was a walking, talking sexually charged machine. Dripping sex? I was constantly with bucket and mop from preserving all the juices.It’s not what you think I was doing for posterity.

Damon is the raison d’être of the Vampire Diaries. The most misunderstood,tragic,beautiful character of the show.Lest anyone misunderstood I’m a Damon fan!!

@dman: You are so correct! This was by far the best episode of season 4. The transformations and revelations for each character were not only thematic in nature but also heartbreaking and foreshadowing.

I agree, she’s even really good at being Katherine-when-Katherine-Is-Pretending-To-Be-Elena, like in the episode when she first appeared at the end of season 1. She was talking to Damon and then John and her facial expressions just looked like someone who was playing along and figuring things out.

yeah, I guessed she will be freaking out… I just hate how they try to tell us a story with these promos. I think they say what they really want to say about the season when they do that in a season promo. Which would mean unfortunately that there will be bad shit going down for Damon… perhaps they will have him want to steal the cure for himself or something nice and selfish like that?? I mean after all… we did hear him say it’s his biggest secret, his need longing to be human, and that it hurts h¡m more than anything in the world… Just saying… :(

When isn’t there bad shit going down for Damon? It’s like their theme. LOL. I think he’s come to far in his growth to do something like steal the cure. I could see him sacrificing himself as in dying for it. The new hunter coming up in ep 13 knows a lot about Damon and it sounds like he has it in for him. He is supposed to be intrigued by his closeness to Elena so I could see him using her against Damon.

I hope you are right though and they wouldn't do anything terrible like that. It was just the look on his face when Stefan told him… you could see he was shocked with the info and then there was this look of desperation… so desperate for it to be true. Of course he would hope for it to be true for ELena, but at the same time, would he hope for it to be true for himself? So I hope his eagerness to help Stefan find this cure he is so "sceptic" about doesn't play out this way… I don't know, I fear foul play. I didn't like the choice of acting for Ian's character in the scene in the underground tunnel and felt it was slightly directed that way. I loved what he said at the end about him being fine with Elena either way and questioning Stefan but I also got the sneaky suspicion that him saying that doesn't mean that this writes off the possibility that they could have him snap and do something selfish for something so big. i guess I'm just preparing myself for the absolute worst lol

Well you can never discount any possibility because we’re not the ones writing it (unfortunately). I know the look on his face was heartbreakingly desperate but I took it more as he’d hope for a cure across the board meaning everyone. As much as he wants to be human I don’t think he’s that selfish. It would be a complete character regression to do that to him and I think it would piss a lot of fans off. I know I’d be mad about it. I think it would make everything they’ve had him do to become better would be for nothing. I understand your pessism because I’m certainly not Miss Optimistic but I just don’t think he’s that selfish. He and Elena are alike in that if the choice comes down to them or the person they love they’ll chose the person they love and he wouldn’t want to turn if Elena couldn’t because that would leave her alone for eternity without him to watch out for her. I’m more apt to think they’ll either kill him for it (temporarily) or somehow he’ll be to blame for not telling her Steffie boy is doing something altruistic…what a shocker that would be.

Boy I would hope she’s say something better than that but more likely he’d die before she had a chance to say anything. Neither she or Stefan would have a chance to stop it if he does it without their knowledge say as part of a ritual sacrifice to make Elena human again. She’d regret not telling him how she felt the whole time he’s gone. She’d clinge to Stefan but try to hide how miserable she was like what happened in the books but we’d see it in her journal maybe. The question would be does she confess when he returns?

He could use an island get away with some girls in bikkins. LOL

No but seriously though, the guy needs a break and it would be soooooo entertaining to see him going about his vampire life as a changed man and see where it takes him. I also badly want to see flash backs of what he was up to a decade or so before arriving at mystic falls… or maybe at least what HE was doing in the 20/30′s… why haven’t we got this already!! ? I hope it’s because they need to keep it hush hush for a good story plot.

I know the flashback that was supposed to show how he became what he was when he arrived in MF was kind of a flop. I think they don’t show flashbacks of him because he’s not their focus like Stefan or the Originals are.

He definitely could use a break but he’s so committed to those he loves he won’t do that. Some of the fanfiction stories have had him do that and it was great to see him move on even if it was just for a bit.
