Okay, after that Kevin and Julie video, I’m scared for our characters. I don’t want anyone to die!

Hahaha, my thought exactly. I’m afraid of Sheila. Please, don’t hurt Grams!

    Freudian slip, haha.

What’s important is that they confirm that it’s billed as “the winter finale”. So that must mean what we’ve heard about a six-week hiatus is true.

Hey, was just wondering I’m from the UK here guys and I’ve heard stuff about there being another break in the airing of the show do any of you know if this is true ??? If so why is there going to be ANOTHER break and WHY ??? I mean come on we have had 3 episodes of it being back after it being gone for 8 weeks !!! If I’ve heard right “Fool Me Once’ will be on next Thursday and then there is going to be a 6 week break in air dates from the 14th episode to the 15th episode am I right in any parts of this ???? Please anyone reply I can’t live with another break in this TV Show and we still have over a month till the next book comes out as well, far to much waiting on our part. There have been so many vampire shows that have been on and canceled and here we have one that is souring and we keep getting left in suspense !!! Any reply much appreciated, thank you x

another hiatus, really?! i mean we JUST ended the 8 week one, and that means only 4 episodes until another hiatus. that is not a good idea. i’m a dedicated TVD fan, like most of us, and i would totally wait, but i think that the show would lose a lot more viewers if they had another one! :(

I’m afraid it’s true. Next week’s episode “Fool Me Once” completes the tomb story arc. That’s February 11th on The CW. The 2010 Winter Olympics start on February 12th and The CW will not be airing The Vampire Diaries during that period. Even though the Olympics are on NBC, they always pull in monster ratings and The CW does not want to sacrifice their highest rated show by airing new episodes opposite it. It would not make smart business sense. The Olympics end February 28th, so the very soonest The CW will bring it back is March 4th (a 3 week hiatus). However, from what I have heard, they want to stretch out the 8 remaining episodes to conclude in May during sweeps when they will get better bang for their buck on ratings versus what they can charge for advertising. In order to accomplish that, the series most likely will have a 6 week hiatus, returning on March 25th. Then the season will end on May 14th during sweeps.

@Denise Pretty much what I thought. Coming back in late March made the most sense to me because it would stretch the finale into May sweeps. Guess we’ll wait for the CW’s official word on the matter.

However long it takes we will still be devoted fans, believe us the show is the greatest of all the vampire show’s and the greatest show on tv right now. It will be worth the wait. Love the show!!!!!!!!!!! Just hope that Stefan and Elena stay together, they look so hot together. More love scenes between them would be GREAT. Keep Damon the scary one. Have to admit Stefan kicking butt for the woman that he loves is OUTSTANDING, love him as the tough guy. Can’t wait to see what is in the tomb. It looks scary, nail biting episode. As for Anna, she’s small but wow she’s kind of like Damon, SCARY and tough.

AHHH THEY OPEN THE TOMB!!! I cannot WAIT!!
*sighs* sucks about the hiatus though, but I guess it’s understandable, I mean who in their right mind would want to compete with the Olympics??

What a shame about another hiatus! Was tough enough waiting for the show to come back after the last one. I read somewhere that tVD lost 300,000 viewers when they came back after the last break? And the return episode had so-so ratings? Noooooo! It could mean they will go the way of Moonlight! TV scheduling is really strange now, with winter finales, hiatus, summer finales…can’t keep track! This is a really great show, and I hope CW makes the right decisions to keep the momentum and fan base going. The cast and crew put so much into the production of Vampire Diaries, they really deserve a good run for a couple years at least! Gotta have the Salvatore brothers while Ian and Paul can still get away with not aging!

i know if they do a hiatus i’ll be mad but obviously still watch. I’m a huge fan of the books and show, if they do come back 25 then atleast everyone will be done w/ shadow souls by then. lol who am i kidding we’ll all probably done 7hrs after we buy it!!!
I also heard the lost viewers…and true fans will pick tvd over the olympics, i mean come on; no competition even there for me!
the rest of the cw shows are coming back in March too including 90210 and Gossip Girl (my other favs.) It especially going to suck when they have the season finale. I honestly wish the show was 2 hrs long w/ no commercials and on all year long!!!! I know you guys are with me on that!

  • Starry Dawn

Karolina: Hahaha, my thought exactly. I’m afraid of Sheila. Please, don’t hurt Grams!

Yeah, something about the way they talked about it made me very nervous. I can’t believe I’m attached to every single person on the show, so the thought of anyone leaving forever is making me fidgety! :/

There was a massive double page spread in the Independent (UK) Life magazine on Friday – sadly I don’t have a scanner…

I hate the break, but I hope we can get repeats and possibly another marathon?? That would be cool!I would rather watch TVD than the Olympics, but I can understand their thinking.

am as disappointed as you all are about the hiatus but i can understand why its happening and we’re gona be just as mad when the season finishes bcoz then we’re gona have to wait for season 2!! Ecstatic about the news of a second series though – patience isn’t 1 of my virtues so i’ve been trying to get hold of all the books – only to discover that they havent all been published yet! AAArghhh, anyways, am really loving the show – and like many others, i could watch it 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week!! TVD rule!!
