Ian Somerhalder Talks Kisses & Kittens + Kevin Williamson On Love Triangles & Klaus

IMG DESC Ever picture Damon Salvatore with a bloody head in one hand and a darling kitten in the other? Thanks to Ian Somerhalder and this interview with Collider, you will now! Ian Somerhalder rather neatly sums up Damon’s situation as the season opens:

Ultimately, he’s not happy with the way things have turned out. He tried, for two seasons, to get his brother to do what he wanted him to do, which is to be what he is. He wants them to just eat and destroy everything in their paths. Now, Stefan is running around with a guy that Damon hates and tried to kill him. He’s effectively left Damon in this town with this girl who’s 150 years younger than he is, that he’s in love with, but can’t have because she doesn’t want him and it’s his brother’s girl. He’s just sitting there, thinking to himself, “This sucks!” But, I think he’s going to rise to the occasion. He’ll have the same grin on his face, if he’s ripping your head off or saving a kitten. He feels the same way about both things.

The interview goes on to share Ian’s thoughts on the big Damon/Elena kiss, and how Damon might feel about sex with Bonnie. Definitely not one to miss!

Kevin Williamson also has some things to say about season 3, and he starts out by saying Klaus, Klaus, Klaus!

In the first half of the season, I think we’re going to really enjoy Klaus (Joseph Morgan), and him being not only an Original, but the bastard child of the Original Family. Now, he’s a hybrid and he’s lifted the curse. It will be watching what he does. He has a whole plan behind it all, and Stefan (Paul Wesley) is part of that plan. He sets his plan in motion in the very first episode, and we play that out for a while.

Those are the million dollar questions this season:1. What’s Klaus’s master plan and why did he choose Stefan? 2. What did that kiss mean to Elena? Is she going to love both Stefan & Damon, or is she going to care for one & love the other? How is Stefan’s journey this season going to affect the relationship between him & Elena? Will Elena’s relationship with Damon evolve into something more? 3. Obviously witches were the root of the curse on Klaus….was it a Bennett witch? 4. What has Kat been up to and when will we see her again…she seemed to be re-thinking her views on Damon toward the end of S2, is that going to come into play this year? 5. When will Elijah be back? 6. How many of the Original family will head to MF….and what does it mean for the town’s residents?

Don’t worry, it will never happen. Ian pretty much said Damon would not be getting involved with Bonnie, after all she is Jeremy’s girl. Damon is in love with Elena. : )

Sorry, can’t imagine Damon actually falling romantically in love with Bonnie. So sex is the only option here :D

I don’t understand how klaus killed elijah!!!! They said any demon who uses the dagger on a vampire will die. So r we just assuming being half werewolf means he isn’t a demon

Did they say “demon” or “vampire”? Klaus is a hybrid and thus no pure vampire. So if it said “vampire” he could have killed him with that dagger.

Ian talked about Bamon in a respectful way not a romantic way, but then added it would not happen because Jeremy is involved with Bonnie and Damon is in love with Elena. Hopefully, the writers will never put Damon with one of Elena’s close high school friends. I think that is why there was Rose ( a vampire friend with special benefits) and Andie Star (human compelled to listen to his woes and be a chew toy). Neither were a part of Elena’s circle of friends. Damon loved Katherine for 145 years and if Elena cannot find it within herself to love Damon for who he is, I am hoping that Katherine will.

At this point, any other human will only be Damon’s chew toy and nothing more because his heart and soul belongs to Elena Gilbert.

Hi Cpgoldilocks116….I think it would be a pretty good assumption that Klaus could use the dagger on Elijah because he is a hybrid (part vampire/part werewolf), however, no other vampire or Original could use the dagger on each other without killing themselves:) I also think the term “demon” was used in place of the term “vampire” in Jonathan Gilbert’s journal. I also think it’s a matter of perspective on if you view Klaus a demon or not…..in my mind, because of what he’s done, one could still view him as a demon….I don’t think they meant the word demon as in literally a demon:) Hope this helps!

Meaningless sex without romantic feelings would equal a “booty call”.

Two people in love and having meaningful sex is verrrrry romantic.

The way the story is being written, I cannot imagine Damon ever falling romantically in love with Bonnie. He has only been in love with two women, Katherine and Elena – both Petrova doppelgangers.

Because of his love for Elena, Damon would never use Bonnie for a “booty call” or as a “chew toy”, not to mention Bonnie is Jeremy’s girl. There is just no way to make a romantic hook up between Bonnie and Damon flow with the way the story is being written. Using Caroline back in early season one as a chew toy and minion fell in line with who Damon was when he first came to Mystic Falls. All he cared about then was getting Katherine out of the tomb.

There has been absolutely nothing to indicate Damon would ever be in love with Bonnie, or that Kevin & Julie have any intentions of taking the story in that direction. Instead they have put Bonnie and Jeremy together. Damon has been in love with two women in his lifetime = Katherine & Elena – both Petrova doppelgangers. Damon falling romantically in love with anyone else does not coincide with the story being told.

Wow, I was kind of worried about the Season 3 storyline until I read Kevin Williamson’s interview. I don’t know why I even doubt him and Julie Plec. They are wonderful storytellers. Most of all I needed to hear that Elena loves both brothers (it’s a true love triangle!). It makes so much sense that Elena’s not going to make the same choices Katherine did, but I think her options are limited. She can either choose one brother, neither of them, or let Stefan and Damon battle it out. Those are the only options I’m seeing for her. But who knows.

Why does there have to be a Caroline/Tyler/Matt love triangle ? I really can’t stand the idea of Caroline and Matt any longer. I just don’t want to watch them.
Forcing another triangle on these characters feels wrong in so many ways. It gets old and boring. I’d rather see caroline involved with the other vampires on the show. Why does she so seldom interact with them? I love her moments/ storyline with Liz and Tyler but why is there no dialogue with her own species? Tyler and caroline have enough obstacles in their friendship/relationship, they don’t need a Matt! Plus, I really don’t want to loose that strong female character Caroline has become.

I just want more information about Bonnie in general other than her relationship with Jeremy. I know they say that she’ll be involved with the Originals storyline but that’s it? Come on give us Bonnie fans more information about…Bonnie!!!! And I agree I with the post of no to Caroline/Matt/Tyler been there done that dont want to see it again. Is this all they have for Caroline, its as if they’re reverting her back to Caroline season one and I could not stand her then. Making her a vampire is a great idea, but now it seems most of the Characters are being really downplayed by Klaus the indestructible one. He has to have some flaw.

And I would like to see Damon and Bonnie be friends, they dont have to agree, but after everything they’ve worked together, I would like to see that. More than anything else than that shouldn’t be considered until maybe season 4…
