The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesThere’s been a nice run of Sara Canning press this week and IESB.net is the next on board with a lengthy interview. Sara discusses the usual – moving to Atlanta, the chemistry of the cast – and also provides insight into the success of the show.

IESB: Had you been aware of the fact that this series is based on books?

Sara: I was, yeah. I had actually heard of the books before, and then, as soon as I was cast as Jenna, I read the first four of the novels. It’s been really interesting to see what they’ve kept from the novels, and how some things have differed. So many of the core ideals from the novel have been used, but then a lot of things have grown and different relationships have developed. It’s really cool. But, I’m happy that I had the books as a basis. Such great characters were developed there, and what’s awesome about the books is the relationship between the Salvatore brothers, which has really taken flight with the show.

I totally loved the interview.Amazing interview. I love it. Sara Canning is awesome and I just love how she is serious about her work. She is truly a fantastic actress. Definitely inspiring me more to be come an actress because that is what I’m seriously pursuing. Sara Canning is the perfect Jenna Sommers. I totally love watching her in every episode that she has appeared in. I think Jenna will make a great mother someday. Her parental skills are there. But who knew she would wind up taking care of her nephew and niece? And looking forward to seeing more of her and Alaric Saltzman. I love The Vampire Diaries. It has earned its success. Sara is lucky to work with such amazing writers in Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec.
