Interview round-up: Candice Accola, Katerina Graham & Daniel GilliesStarryMag caught up with Candice Accola to look back on Caroline’s progression in Season 2 – her transformation into a vampire, her developing relationships and friendships, and her thoughts on the recent tragic happenings in Mystic Falls. She also talks extensively about her involvement in Lyme Disease awareness, including her recent project with Show Me Your Mumu to raise money for Turn the Corner. (And, hey, today is Candice’s birthday, so why not make a donation towards fighting Lyme Disease on her Crowdrise page?)

Oh man, Caroline has grown leaps and bounds! What’s really fun about the idea of playing characters in high school is that everything regardless of vampires and werewolves is extreme anyway. You know your first love is your one and only and a fight with your parents is World War III and everything is at its utmost dramatic heightened level. Even in the sense of all of the insecurities that you carry along with you throughout high school and the fact that this character Caroline has throughout season one into season two just shed so many insecurities and having a different perspective on what’s important and who’s important and how you expect others to treat yourself.

And a round-up of Kat Graham and Daniel Gillies interviews posted late yesterday:

Chicago Tribune’s Show Patrol: Kat Graham: Latest ‘Vampire Diaries’ death was tough

You also said you love it when Bonnie kicks butt, and wow, has she ever in these recent episodes.
I’m just one of those girls that says, “Okaaaay!” … I’m just one of those. If it was the ’70s I’d be burning bras, you know what I mean? I’m happy. I’m just so happy that she really stood her ground. Even though in the second season Bonnie dealt with a lot of angry fans, she had happy fans. She still kind of held her own throughout in the way they wrote her. It was very much about self-assurance and I think girls, especially young girls, need to see that.

MTV Hollywood Crush: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Finale Scoop: Kat Graham Reveals Damon Isn’t Bonnie’s Biggest Problem

“I don’t even necessarily think that the biggest problem Bonnie has in the season finale is Damon’s werewolf bite,” she revealed. “And I’m not saying that to be cruel. I’m saying Bonnie has an even bigger problem than that if you can imagine. If she’s asking for help, it must be a really big reason.”

TV Guide: Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies: I Like Playing Elijah with “Humility and Vulnerability”

“I agree with his decision,” Gillies says. “He’s been pursuing this for centuries; this is what his goal was.” The actor said choosing his brother in the end showed his humanity, something he believes Elijah strives for despite being a vampire. “He’s got this conviction and you sense a deep belief in something so special about being human,” Gillies says. “He’s learned to suppress that he thinks humanity is actually a beautiful and wonderful gift that’s being squandered every day.”

Zap2It: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies on Elijah and Elena: ‘The romance has already begun’

“I really liked the scene where Elena put the knife in me, actually,” he says after we ask about his favorite moments this season. “I quite liked that – I don’t know why, but there’s something about it that’s kind of romantic to me. I don’t know if it’s the imagery, or just something about those two together. When I watched that back, even though she stuck the knife in, there’s something sort of symbolic about love and a relationship. I love scenes with her. I think that particularly with Elena — apart from the fact that Nina is a cool actress to work with — Elena reminds Elijah that people can be enchanting, too.”
