E!Online talked to Joseph Morgan at the Monte Carlo Film Festival about his past and future on the show, including Klaus’s body swaps with Alaric and Tyler and his future with Caroline. On why he isn’t dead yet:

“I think the intention was to kill me at the end of season three, and yet I live on, so I must be doing something right!” Joseph tells us of Klaus’ near-death in the season three finale. “Part of it is I love my job and I talked to the show’s creator [Julie Plec]; we talked about what would be the best thing to do. She said, ‘I think there are some more stories to tell with this character,” and I said, ‘I agree, and I would love to have the opportunity to tell them.’”

Please understand the topic. We were discussing why we watch. That in no way takes away from the awesome Joseph Morgan/Klaus. And if you care to look at Ian’s/Damon’s page you will see that I personally have discussed Klaus on it as well. I like them both. Didn’t realize I’d be censored!!!

Yes, it is! I don’t mind debating with others but it’s nice to be understood too. ;)

Why the Hell would Klaus need swagger when he has charisma? You’re absolutely right that some roles can only be played by certain people. It’s those actors who truly breathe life into the characters. Not just anyone can do that.

Adding Originals after the fact is what I didn’t care for. I mean there was no mention of other siblings outside of Bex and Elijah until halfway thru the season. Then they weren’t exactly note worthy characters. I felt like we could’ve done without them.

Bex basically is the female version of Damon. She falls madly in love quickly yet she’s never able to actually get love in return. She lashes out when she’s hurt or angry. She is fiercely loyal to those she cares about but will get her hands dirty if necessary. Basically she’s misunderstood. They could write things so Bex and Damon fell for each other but they’ve set it up so it isn’t likely at least in the near future. Again I think there are just some characters that a pegged to be miserable and these two are it. I can’t stand seeing the same people lose all the time and never get an ounce of love while others are always showered with praise and love. I hate that theme. We can see that crap in real life. Fantasy is where the underdog should be able to win for once.

So far I’m not seeing the new Disqus set up as an improvement. I still can’t reply from any of my computers. I have to use my phone. And what’s with arrow down button. I know we joked about it before but…? I notice a lot of “parent” notices too. I guess we’re too controversial. LOL.

Yes, I like my sci-fi fantasy to be uplifting where the hero wins the girl and everybody lives happily ever after. That is not TVD apparently.

They are also, in a hole with the Kol character. Kol is a serial killer. What do they plan to do with that character. He wasn’t going to drink Matt, he just wanted to randomly kill him. Kol is so bad that Klaus is afraid of him. They’ll probably just disappear Kol like they do Elijah. In the show, out of the show, no explanation, no destination mentioned, just flipping gone. Just like a magic trick.
I really hope Damon can be with Rebekah. I mean seriously, how much cruelty is this show going to dish. It is not fun all. It is a very painful show to watch. I will not do a full season of ever again. Season 3 was enough.
Klaus is an exceptional actor in his own right but, JP out of the blue, had him desiccated. What a surprise. Klaus is gonna be too ticked about that. He really does, in some deep far away place in his psyche, love Stefan. But as he said in an interview, he was not too keen about having Stefan’s hand on his heart desiccating him. That should be fun to watch. Stefan trying to stay alive while dealing with Vampelena.

Whispering: I’m concerned. We need Joseph back like yesterday and yes, Klaus will take Tyler’s girl, too. Rooting for Klaus.

The only thing I am having trouble figuring out is where the “image” button is in order to post a picture. Other than that…. I think I’ve got it now. :)

  • ihatepeople

I haven’t posted pictures. My main thing is working w the tiny screen on my Android vs being able to post from my pc. I can post new comment from my pc but not replies. Frustrating.

There are few things I’m optimistic about here but JoMo returning to reclaim his role as Klaus is one of them. It would be foolish not to bring him back when he’s earned Klaus a spot as a long-term character.

  • a_softsong

The replies are off, too. I was replying to GP and it looks like I’m talking to myself. LOL Maybe they are getting the bugs worked out. Hopefully, It will be fine in a week or two.

Diabolical is the word. Klaus trying to win Caroline and holding onto his diabolical ways. That will be something to watch. The transformation, of not believing that anyone could truly love him. Holding on to his fears and being swept into a passionate giving love with Caroline. And though I love him as his “diabolical” self, nobody can exist without giving themselves forever.

Klaus has lived a 1000 years on the run, he’s had to fight for that non-life of his and his one true love Rebekah’s. But, she’s his sister and that is not truly fulfilling. Klaus’ home is Mystic Falls just like all of the rest of the characters.

Tyler’s, Klaus’ and Bonnie’s families are truly the original families of Mystic Falls. I don’t think Klaus will ever be “good” but I think there is room for love and common ground between the humans and immortals of Mystic Falls.

Just like Damon when he decided that Mystic Falls was worth saving, Klaus feel drawn to home, too. Rebekah, made a stand. She refused to be pushed out of her home. I can relate to that. Bonnie made a Stand, she refused to be pushed by witches and vampires. My question is, did Tyler know about the switch ahead of time? I think he did. JP and KW are awfully quiet about that.

I would love to see what they do about the council members. I personally want Klaus to deal with them, they’d have a chance to live and make peace. It is the humans who have moved into a mystical community with witches, vampires, werewolves and who knows what else. Damon would kill them all to ensure that they all survive and remain anonymous. Klaus would compel all that he could and have Stefan kill the rest. Elijah, would make Damon and Stefan handle the problem before stepping in and killing them all. I just really want real vampires back in Mystic Falls.

In the past it was impossible to not feed from live humans but now with the blood bags, they can live in harmony. Damon is protecting the humans more so than the council ever did.

What I’m saying is that the Originals are exciting because of Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah. I think they should be part of the cast just like Damon, Stefan and Elena.

Joseph Morgan, is great. “Have at it, sweetheart”. Now that was the line when healed Caroline. I was hooked on Klaus from that moment on. LOL

  • ihatepeople

I’d just the stupid reply button to work consistently. I don’t think that’s too much to ask do you?

  • a_softsong

No, I do not. This is a lot more complicated.

  • a_softsong

I have to reply to this message I guess. No, Kol wasn’t a cool character at all. But, Damon got blasted by Elena and Stefan for saving Matt’s life by knocking him over the balcony. I also, think that they are going to turn Klaus into a love starved puppy, whining after Caroline. I really hope they don’t because we’ve been down that road, too. I want Klaus to remain true as a character and win Caroline’s heart. Elijah has always been like the leader, the tone and voice of the group. (By the way, I love his new show “Saving Hope”.) He really needs to be in Mystic Falls fixing this mess. Klaus was betrayed and he doesn’t take betrayal lightly. It will be something to watch once he back in his own body.
