Julie Plec revealed the title of EP402 via Twitter this evening – Memorial.

Any of you guys got x-ray vision? We’re mighty curious as to what’s behind that cover page!

I just hope this next season isn’t as grief-heavy as the last one… between the season opening with Elena packing up Jenna’s room and the end with Alaric’s drawn out death it was quite depressing. I’d like then to focus more on romance and adventure this season.

So the 2nd episode title is “Memorial”, which means somebody died and I’m guessing it was the Pastor of the church and a top official of the Founding Family Council, who probably takes over after Carol Lockwood, Sheriff Forbes and Damon were outed by Alaric. Staying in tradition of what the Council is, I’m sure the Founding Family Council is doing a vampire round-up (again) and in the beginning the Pastor is leading the charge, although it doesn’t last long. I still predict that it is Elena that kills the Pastor when he takes Stefan.

Kat Graham did an interview with Hollywood Reporter and teases a “surprise” return and more trouble for Elena. Here is the link for anyone who wants to read it:

hhmmm… what do you think, somebody from Bonnie´s past who influences her… might that be her cousin from the episode where they together fought Kat to get the moonstone?, I kept wondering if we were to see her again…

Kat said it was somebody from Bonnie’s — and from everyone else’s past — will make a
surprise appearance in one of the first couple of episodes,” she said. She said it is someone viewers are already familiar with, but she did not say this particular person is the same person who influences Bonnie. I think whoever influences Bonnie is going to be this new college Professor and I’m not so sure his influence will be in a good way.

I’m trying to think of someone from the past that could make a surprise appearance that isn’t dead dead.. that is unless everyone is going to start seeing dead people, which I suppose is possible.

Possibilities:
1. Lucy, Bonnie’s cousin, which you mentioned in your comment.

2. Kelly Donovan (Matt’s mom), highly likely given the accident Matt just had.

3. Katherine (please! please!), but I doubt it.

yep, I don´t believe it will be Kat either, because Julie said that she would only show if Klaus wasn´t a threat anymore. (At that I think it would be difficult for Nina to play two hot vamps and making that look strikingly different at the same time) .
You´re right about Kelly, I almost forgot her, didn´t she have an encounter with Damon when he was still the wild untamed vamp?

Kelly Donovan definitely made a play for Damon in Season one and he didn’t stop her, actually he was enjoying it.

Kelly Donovan is a lush and definitely not a woman of morals or good character, but she does love her son, Matt. Considering he almost died, I think she would come back to Mystic Falls due to his accident.

There was a deleted scene in Season one, which implied Kelly Donovan was a succubus. Maybe that will be introduced this season, but maybe not.

Basically it’s a female demon. It’s like a vampire, but instead of feeding off blood, they feed off sex. A succubus could literally “love a guy to death”;)

Yep, I think the Memorial is for Elena’s first vamp kill, the preacher. I think Elena feels guilty for taking a life, and that’s why she takes April “under her wing”. Liz Forbes,Carol Lockwood, & Damon have all been outed to the council (thanks Ric!) and now the council is on high alert. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if they come after Stefan, take him & Elena goes after them. In the fight, she kills the preacher, who just so happens to be April’s dad.

I think the person who is going to be influencing Bonnie is the professor at the college. And I think the surprise guest return is Kellie Donavon, after all, her son almost died. How long Kellie sticks around is anyone’s guess.

Meanwhile, on the other side of town, at the Grill, sits Damon & Tyler/Klaus, drinking like little fishes;)

Damon and Klyler having a drink together, forming a new bromance (but if I try to be honest, I like the picture better with Damon and Klaus than with Damon and Tyler,), hmm a most pleasant idea, why not!

I don’t think so….they’ve been filming at a church here in Atl this week, and they’ve had lots of extras. This means lots of mourners. Think about it, everyone’s (meaning the citizens of Mystic Falls) supposed to attend a Memorial service for Elena? Which means the town’s populace will know she died. How is she going to then walk around town alive? The council is on high alert, they will know something fishy is going on and pretty much guess she’s vamped, which puts her in danger.

I think Damon will be drinking his “woes” away at the bar and Tyler/Klaus with simply sit down next to him, and possibly call him “mate”. Damon will instantly know that Klaus is not dead, he is in fact the head of his vampire bloodline, and Klaus is in Tyler’s body….the expression on Damon’s face will be PRICELESS;)

Maybe a memorial to all those who defended MF against vampires and died… it is quite possible that the council members now show teeth after they even feel betrayed by the sheriff and the mayor.

btw,just a thought:
after Liz and Carol were outed to the council by evil Ric,he told Meredith: both are already suspended. It is possible that Connor is the new sheriff of MF,but who will be the new mayor?

I watched that scene on my dvd I was like uh…what just happened? o.0? Now it makes so much sense.

I was wondering if Meredith had the foresight to keep Elena’s death a secret when they brought her into the hospital. Then again, maybe she wasn’t given the chance before authorities came to the scene at the bridge. If it was only a few and they aren’t in the know I suppose they could’ve been compelled…but if Stefan didn’t know she had vampire blood in her system he might not have seen a reason to do that. I guess we’ll see.

I wondered the exact same thing. EMS probably arrived and bagged Elena hence her being in the morgue. Stefan was probably too shocked to consider compulsion. I keep wondering how any of them are going to be able to stay in MF past that first ep. They can’t expect the trouble to be over just because the council’s first round up isn’t a success. I’m sure I’m over thinking it but shouldn’t they go into hiding?

You don’t think Bonnie would clue them in to what she’s done before that? Everyone is going to be wondering why they’re still alive. Maybe it takes some time to figure out how to reverse the spell so Klaus is stuck in Tyler’s body and he takes that opportunity to annoy Damon. LOL.

Lucy did say she would see her again. Maybe Bonnie goes down the dark path and Lucy shows up to help set her straight.

Some of the interviews make it sound like Elena will be back at school early on, dealing with being a vampire at the same time. Going into hiding would make more sense, but maybe they’re assuming they’re safe as long as they stay in public places. The council probably won’t want the whole town to know, after all. Honestly if I became a vampire I dunno if I would really care about staying in my small home town to graduate. Caroline kind of made sense because of her mom, but Elena?

Good point about the council keeping it hush hush from the rest of the town. It just would seem very naive (and unlike our vamps) to think they could continue on in the same town. I’m sure Elena would want to stay for Jeremy and because her friends are there but fleeing would be safer.

The trouble with spoilers is that you never know which ones are true. Just read something on zap2it that says the Tyler drinking buddy is just a rumor. According to the article JP says it would be more likely Meredith.

Yeah I read that contradiction too, it was kind of irritating that some of these things presented as spoilers are totally untrue.

Ugh Julie Plec!?!

I would never disrespect her but I honestly believe she is the reason the second half of season 3 sucked soooo bad! I almost stopped watching…I’m just happy Kevins in charge again!
