Vampire Diaries TV recapper Carina MacKenzie’s interview with Nina Dobrev is up at the LA Times. They cover a lot of ground, from auditioning, living in Atlanta, and leaving Degrassi, to her inspiration behind Katherine, Elena’s discovery about her resemblance to Katherine in The Turning Point, and what fans can expect in upcoming episodes. (She also divulges her favorite episode so far.)
You’ve got a rare opportunity as an actress to be able to play two characters in one show and explore the different ways that Elena and Katherine interact with the brothers. Is there anything that Elena and Katherine have in common?
At this point, I don’t think so. At one point, Stefan describes Katherine and then he talks to someone else about Elena, and he points out their differences. Katherine was very conniving, she was narcissistic, she acted out of her own benefit and for her own selfish needs. She used these two boys as her toys. They were toys for her, and she had a lot of fun with them. I’m so lucky — I just love this show.
Digital Spy’s Tube Talk has posted their own interview with Nina, where she gives her thoughts on Elena’s future, her relationship with Stefan, and pulling double duty in playing both Elena and Katherine. Check out the piece and watch the interview below:
Ian Somerhalder previews the second half of the season over at the Boston Herald:
“I think it’s going to get even more violent and more steamy,” Somerhalder said. “I think they’re going to push the envelope as far as they possibly can on prime-time network television. I think that Damon is going to find what he’s looking for. In what capacity that is, I wouldn’t be able to say, but he does find it.”
And Katerina Graham sat down with MTV to discuss what’s in store for Bonnie Bennett when the show returns. Sounds like Bonnie’s Damon troubles are far from over, and her relationship with her best friend Elena could be headed for troubled waters.
“Bonnie is definitely going to be faced with some challenges that she was not expecting,” Katerina divulged. “And in order to protect her family and her friends, she’s going to have to make some decisions that are going to test her and Elena’s friendship. And she’s going to have to be either really be there for her or take a step back.”
Read the entire interview over at MTV.
Katerina also talked to the New York Post about the cast staying under the radar and teases Bonnie and Ben in Unpleasantville:
Next week’s episode marks Bonnie’s “first date in a long time,” Graham says, hinting that she and guest star Sean Faris have “some very cute date scenes … [but] fans will be shocked when they see the ending — like, ‘oh my gosh, I can’t believe that happened!’”
UPDATE: Oh, and before we forget – we tweeted this last night, but in case you missed that, Hollywood Life talks to Sara Canning about her beauty secrets. (Vee Note: Burt’s Bee’s lip balm FOREVER.)
We also tweeted about Ausiello’s two Vampire Diaries tidbits last night. Nothing really new for the hardcore fans, but just in case, you can check ‘em out in the newest Ask Ausiello column.
