Thanks to the eagle-eyed folks at Media Blvd: Ian Somerhalder for this piece of awesome: Rolling Stone‘s pop culture critic Rob Sheffield examines The Vampire Diaries in the magazine’s newest issue (Black-Eyed Peas on the cover). Click the image for an easily readable version and make sure you pick up a copy! And while you’re at it, please pick up Sheffield’s book Love Is a Mix Tape, which made me sob my guts out (on public transportation! without shame!).

As for the piece itself – agree? Disagree?

I vehemently disagree that Paul Wesley is a Robert Pattinson lookalike. Bleech! What an insult to Paul, who is far better looking IMHO. At least the Rob Lowe comparison with Ian Somerhalder is a lot more valid.

Aside from that, as a pop culture puff piece, I suppose it’s adequate, but frankly I think our posters here on the messageboard of this site are a heckuva lot more insightful.

I totally agree. But also, unlike RPattz, Paul can actually act.

That doubly applies per Nina Dobrev and Kristin Stewart, who seemed almost catatonic in the first movie, so I didn’t bother with the second.

If I was Paul, I would be strongly insulted to be said you’re a Robert Pattinson look alike, they look nothing alike. And like somebody else said, and least Paul can actually act.

Paul Wesley can act and is seriously ripped. Unlike messy haired RPattz

Wow. Interesting perspective, I suppose. Paul looks nothing like Rob and what was even the point of even making that comment anyway? (btw, I disagree that Rob can’t act. Have any of you seen Remember Me or Little Ashes? I wouldn’t judge him just on the Twilight Saga.)

And since when is Elena a “goth girl?”

“a teen-girl world where boys who aren’t vampires don’t even exist”??? The author has clearly not seen the show. The humans are the best part.

I was gonna say the same thing. It felt like this article was written months ago, or, like you said, they never even bothered to watch it. Elena is hardly goth or the lonely girl at school.
