Thanks to Connie for the heads up and Futon Critic for the press release: The CW and CBS have launched two new iPhone and iTouch apps, one of which will allow users to directly purchase and download full-length episodes of The Vampire Diaries and other CW shows.

The “CWTV” application gives CW fans direct access to video clips of all CW programming, including previews, recaps, interviews with the cast, and behind-the-scenes footage of popular CW shows. Fans can also link out to iTunes to purchase full length episodes of Gossip Girl, 90210, Melrose Place, The Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, America’s Next Top Model, Supernatural, and Smallville.

You can read the full release over on Futon Critic, including a list of the app’s features. The app is FREE and you can download it straight from the iTunes store (only available to users in the U.S.)

Kayla Ewell has a brief interview in Soap Opera Digest about her time on The Bold & The Beautiful and her current gig on The Vampire Diaries:

“Kevin Williamson (DAWSON’S CREEK, Scream) is such a brilliant writer; a lot happens in each episode,” shares Ewell. “People die, there will be new vampires, relationships start to form, others begin to fall apart. There will be so many scary moments and so many heartfelt moments every week. The writers have done a great job balancing the two.”

For those of you nostalgic about the ’90s Vampire Diaries computer game, industry website Playthings.com reports that Pressman Toy is developing a board game based on the Vampire Diaries TV series (2010 release).
