XXNews of The Originals spinoff has caused quite a sensation in the fandom. Everyone is asking questions about how it will work and above all, who we might see on it.

Entertainment Weekly interviewed Julie Plec on the topic, and she not only gives some details about the show’s mysterious new character, Marcel, she also has a few things to say about the possibility of guest stars that will have Elijah fans doing cartwheels in the aisles.

Would there be a role for Elijah (Daniel Gillies) in the spinoff, because there needs to be.

[Plec] Oh, in the world of Julie Plec [Laughs] and her obsession with Daniel Gillies, there is always a role for Elijah. It’s only a matter of whether in Daniel Gillies’ world there is an interest in having a job with Julie Plec. But I can hope the answer is yes.

When asked about the role of Rebekah, and whether we might be seeing Claire Holt in New Orleans, Julie allows for the possibility but does point out that Rebekah is very much in the middle of things on TVD right now, not to mention extremely put out with Klaus. Fortunately for Rebekah fans, Entertainment Weekly also spoke with Claire Holt recently, and she sheds a little more light (spoilers!) on what Rebekah’s up to in tomorrow night’s episode.

“Rebekah gathers Stefan, Elena, and Caroline in the high school and she basically psychologically tortures them,” Holt says. “She questions them about the tattoo, and the cure, and Stefan and Elena’s relationship, and it brings some uncomfortable truths to light. It’s definitely going to be much more difficult for Caroline, Elena, and Stefan than it is for Rebekah.”

<3 the comments on Daniel Gillies.   Elijah does need to be a part of it, every episode if possible!  Just need to get him on board!

Sad to see Michael Narducci go, but happy that Caroline Dries will have a bigger role in the writing process!

My biggest question is “WILL CAROLINE JOIN?” I really hope so. They can’t put Klaroline into our heads and take it away before they give it to us! She can totally go to college in New Orleans and they run into each other :)

I’d like to see Caroline at least get Cameo’s with Klaus after all the build up between them in TVD.  Of course we don’t know what will still happen this season, they could have a complete falling out as part of the set up for the new series.

Julie Plec will be the show runner for both shows.   Caroline Dries will take over the day to day operation for TVD.  (just a note: Caroline Dries massacred “Memory Lane” in Season 2 and did not keep the flow of the ongoing story tied in with what happened in “Blood Brothers” which was written by Julie and Kevin in Season one).  I do wish Caroline the best in her endeavor and sincerely hope TVD keeps it’s edgy, twists and turns….  Hopefully Jose Molina will stay on TVD.  He writes excellent lines for Damon and has written some of my favorite episodes this season.

As for Michael Narducci taking over the day to day operations for The Originals, I’m thrilled with that decision.  He has always been one of my favorite TVD writers and knows how to bring the edge that Kevin is know for.  He is in Atlanta more than he is in LA anyway.

and still no word of Kol yet?? the suspense is killing me, he needs to be in it!

Off course, I’d like a spinoff. However, if Joseph Morgan is the center of this new show this mean it won’t appear much in TVD :(

While what happened in Memory Lane was a mistake with previous writing, to be fair so many other episodes had had similar mistakes. Even the most latest 4×09, had Elena saying Jenna used to bring her and Jeremy to the lake house after their parents died—but in 2×14, three of the S/E scenes at the lake house were Elena reminiscing since it was supossedly her first time back since the accident. These discrepancies have occurred before. And it’s something TVD needs to fix as a whole and not just one writer.

    Hi Sarah,

I understand and get what you are saying, but there are little mistakes and then there are colossal mistakes.
Memory Lane, written by Caroline Dries,  was colossal to the point Kevin, himself, had to step in and give excuses for it.  The story regarding Katherine, the church fire, the Salvatores Brothers being turned is a huge part of the story.  Kevin and Julie wrote “Blood Brother” and “Memory Lane” completely forgot what had happened in that episode in Season one.  What may or may not have happened regarding Christmas decorations at the Lake House is minor in comparison.   Julie said Caroline Dries knows TVD inside and out and has been with the
show since day one.  I sincerely hope Caroline Dries is up to the task of
taking over the day to day operations of TVD.  I’m  wishing Caroline Dries the best and I am sending my support her way.  I certainly do not want my favorite show to suffer from colossal mistakes.  I can’t help it,  I’m just a little apprehensive over this decision.  Truthfully, I was hoping for Brian Young, who has also been with TVD since day one.  Brian has not made any colossal mistakes and so far Kevin has not had to step in and make excuses for any of Brian’s episodes.

As for Michael Narducci, the guy is fantastic.  I’m extremely happy he will be taking over the day to day operation for The Originals.

I read or saw an interview a bit back with Joseph Morgan RE: season 4.  He indicated he would possibly have romance with a female he did not define.  Based on the spinoff, anyone think it could by Hayley?  Or was I dreaming this?
Also, it’s 17Jan…what a loooooooong wait for TVD to retrun…happy day!
