The Vampire Diaries TV SeriesGathering up some stray bits here (two of which we threw out on Twitter earlier, so sorry for the redundancy):

Paul Wesley will be on the NY PIX Morning News (on NYC CW affiliate Channel 11) this Monday, August 31st, at 7:45 a.m. Looks like they keep a blog, and post up things quickly, so keep an eye out for video and photos of Mr. Wesley talking about the awesomesauce that is Stefan and Vampire Diaries.

IESB has a comprehensive rundown of Nina Dobrev’s comments at the TCA panel in Pasadena, some of which we’ve seen before and some we have not:

Q: How has the show affected your life?

Nina: The show hasn’t aired yet, and we’re in Georgia, in a very small town. At first, I was a little skeptical and scared to be moving again. I had just moved to L.A., so I was like, “Oh, I have to get up and move my life again.” But, I got there, and there’s something about going to work, getting your things done, going home and not really having that much to do, and just sitting at home in your sweats and watching a movie. I love that.

And finally, Deadbolt has an article: 5 Ways The Vampire Diaries May Take a Bite Out of Twilight. Not sure we buy “The Vancouver Factor” as a reason (with apologies to Vancouver), but there are some interesting points raised throughout:

With so much time in between Twilight films, The Vampire Diaries could fill the love triangle void that Twilight Saga fans will be missing once New Moon leaves theatres. After all, nothing says love like two vampires squaring off to the death over a human girl. Oh, the irony. But remember, there was also a love triangle in Buffy the Vampire Slayer between Angel, Buffy, and Spike, which proved to be more successful than anyone could have imagined.

You don’t buy into the Vancouver Factor?! For shame! I don’t live in Vancouver, but I do live in Western Washington, so I myself am fond of rain and cool temperatures in general, and I think the heavy fog and cloud cover, not to mention sprawling forests, really do wonders in a drama. I mean, the weather and scenery is like a character in and of itself.
Anyway, that was a pretty interesting article, it’s obvious that TVD is generating a lot of buzz.

Oh, I love the scenery Vancouver provides, don’t get me wrong! I just think, in this context, it’s a weak point if you’re making an argument about why The Vampire Diaries may “take a bite out of Twilight.” Doesn’t really make sense to me, particularly if the Twilight Saga is shot in Vancouver as well.

Ah, I see what you mean. Why should the scenery help make TVD more popular than Twilight if it’s shot in the same place. I got ya.
