Have I ever wanted to know Polish this badly? Wow. Paul Wesley is in Poland supporting his friend Jan Kaczmarek’s film festival, which is coming up in a few weeks. Paul is serving as the Ambassador to the event, you can check out the info for the festival at www.transatlantyk.org. FYI, the website isn’t 100% reliable, it seems inclined towards crashing, but they also have a YouTube channel that’s working fine.

For more footage from the same press conference, there’s another video and article here. The article is entirely in Polish; the video has some English from Paul, though he is frequently translated over. Thanks to @Shirarose1 for the link!

Just in case some of you were wondering what he’s saying..
PW: Hi. My name is.. But, how do you say it? [You want me to say] that “my name is Paweł”? Ok. So it’s.. Hi, I’m Paul Wesley. I’m inviting you to Poznań for Transatlantic Festival. Please, come. (he had a hard time pronouncing ‘przyjeżdżajcie”). That’s a hard word, przyjeżdżajce. In Polish, yes? We can..
(they were chatting in English for a few seconds)
JK: I’m really happy that you’re here. We’re all, because we need you here.
PW: Thank you.. I’m really really happy to be here.
JK: Because I know that this year you can’t attend the festival, can you? But we’re hoping..
    PW: I’ll try.
PW: Hi, I’m Paul Wesley. I’m inviting you to Poznań for Transatlantic Festival. Please, come.

hah .. I love to watch him when he speaks Polish :) .. he’s really cute and so helpless and I don’t think that he has an American accent when he speaks Polish, it’s like that because he speaks English on a daily basis and he didn’t speak Polish from a long time.. I’ve heard him speaking Polish before and for me he doesn’t have an accent at all ..

HAVE MERCY Paul speaking more Polish! This #AccentWhore has officially *died*

  • Maja

I also speak Polish, but I think he speaks really well! It was his first language and I’ve heard him in previous interviews speaking Polish and you can tell he speaks it fluently :)

Honestly – he’s polish is very good considering he does not use it very often. He speaks much better than any American native speaker would speak – he understands the melody of the language (even if he has a little american accent here and there). He can easily adopt to some sounds that are not used in other languages, like “ą”, “sz” or “dż”. All he needs is more words and practice. Polish is one of the most difficult languages - I really appreciate his attempts and  higly respect the fact that he doesn’t hide his polish roots as many actors do. Great guy.

wow Paul is a freaking genius for even TRYING to pronounce this word —> przyjeżdżajce :) Thanks for the translation!

GOD Men speaking different languages is really sexy! Alexander Skasgard’s Swedish was epic, now Paul’s Polish? Even more epic! I think he learnt French at school or something I can sort of speak French, and I heard him trying to speak french at an interview it was hilarious:P Just out of curiosity, can Ian speak any foreign language?

For anyone looking at the article of Paul Wesley on the other website, just use google translate to help you figure out what they’re saying.

I highly recommend reading this article http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mmpoznan.pl%2F376900%2F2011%2F6%2F28%2Fpaul-wesley–gwiazda-pamietnikow-wampirow–ambasadorem-festiwalu-transatlantyk%3Fcategory%3Dkultura . It’s better than the one from naszemiasto.pl . Poor Paul, he thought that Jan Kaczmarek asked some random girls to fangirl over Wesley;)

  • Rosenblaetter

Translation is MUCH worse than Paul’s polish though :) Grandfather’s pie? Wow. (they meant traditional Polish meal made of cabbage – just so you know)

he’s sexy as hell. i was laughing when he was speaking in polish lol

    I’m from Poland<3
Frankly, the fact that Paul Wesley is actually Paweł Wasilewski and was born in Poland was one of the reasons i started to watch The Vampire Diaries. His Polish is not very good, but he was bound to forgot it since he moved to USA after he had been born. Besides Polish a very difficult language ;-)
