Shouldn’t there be a cameo in there for Lost Girls? ;) Also, love the layout change up top!

I think I’ll save my full reaction for the discussion forum (which is rockin’ tonight – hi, new peeps!), BUT I have to take issue with one thing in particular…

Why does this show often have Stefan do monumentally STUPID things? Like, inexcusably DUMB things? That make no sense? The first few times I was willing to forgive it as a suspension of disbelief for story reasons, but now it’s getting a bit ridiculous. It’s like he’s being continually forced to walk the plank of FAIL for no other reason than force a story point or interaction between other characters. Tonight it was leaving Elena alone in the room with Vicki, right on the heels of being all “blah blah blah” with Elena. I’m sorry but I call b.s.

So that Damon looks better in comparison? Just guessing ;P I actually agree wholeheartedly, and I also think that someone else should have been the one to kill Vicki–either Damon (since he sired her) or one of the humans.

I think the writers made a mistake by killing Vicky off. IMO shock value doesn’t make up for a good character. And now, what about Matt? He won’t just accept she left.

Did you read the Ausiello piece? About the original version? I would have preferred that version methinks. Because I don’t think this made Stefan look like a hero at all. And I agree that Damon would have been waaaaay more interesting – the bit with him and Jeremy at the end was the best part of the whole ep, IMO.

There’s a lot of interesting stuff that could happen with Matt trying to find out what happened to her, though. Maybe that’ll be how he eventually uncovers the truth about vampires? You never know.

It won’t rank as a favorite, no. Probably tied somewhere with Family Ties in that regard. (Not a fan of the editing job on either ep.) But I almost view my above complaint as being an entirely separate issue. It’s been brewing since Family Ties, when it never occurred to Stefan that he could buy vervain over the freakin’ internet.

That all being said, I’ll miss Kayla Ewell. I don’t know if I’ll miss VICKI, but I think Kayla did a great job with the character.

Actually, that issue applies to the Lockwoods, too. I refuse to believe that Damon wiped out vervain from the entire world, or there was one variety indigenous to Mystic Falls that was the only one to ward off vampire mind whammies. Mainly because it’s hard to swallow that they’d have found out what said variety did in the course of less than a year and know to wipe it out. It’s got to be known lore brought over from the Old World. There should be a frakking dealer of the stuff in Translyvania or something.

So funny, because I read the Ausiello piece AFTER I was already puzzling about the choice of Stefan to do the deed. No wonder it seemed off. I think Jeremy would have been a better choice, and agree that it did NOT make Stefan look like a hero.

I was definitely fine about Vicki dying, as I think that was really the only logical end to her storyline, once she was made a vampire. I need to watch the episode again tomorrow, and mull these things over further–and pay closer attention to the end scene you mentioned.

i havent read the books yet so im not sure and i dont really want to be spoiled or anything, but i just have a thought pertaining to this…

there was something about the way Damon acted towards Elena when he went to go get Vicki after she died that kind of sent this weird vibe through me… what im saying is, i dont think thats the last of Vicki. i mean, yea Damon told Elena to leave cuz her “wounds” were bleeding, but Damon has a pretty strong self control when he focuses and i think there was an ulterior motive to him telling her to leave.

idk… just throwing some thoughts around. i have a feeling Vicki’s story isnt over yet. but like i said, i havent read the books yet…

I thought Stefan was the hero in that he saved Elena. I mean seriously he feels very bad for what he did, it was all on his face when him and Elena were talking outside the house. I know everyone on here loves Damon, but he kind of goes overboard with his facial expressions..little irritating. I do feel that maybe the writers should have kept Vicky on for a couple of more episodes. The next episode would be more interesting to have Lexi and Vicky in the Salvatore home.

Wanna know why I love that final scene, with Damon offering to wipe Jeremy’s memory? Because you have absolutely NO IDEA if Damon actually did it, or what replacement memory he gave him. Because his feelings about Elena are still so ambiguous. That stare he lays on her before telling her to leave? THAT was the Damon I’ve been waiting seven eps to finally see.

Thinking on it, a big reason for me preferring Jeremy to have done it is that now there’s an opening for Matt to hate Stefan for killing his sister. I so badly want for them to be best friends like in the books, and things keep happening that make that seem less likely. :/

Eh, I think there’s still plenty of time to develop that, though, if it’s in the cards. They’ve got plenty of time to put these characters to the screws, you know? I’m all for the abruptness and SHOCK of Vicki’s death; I just think having Stefan do the deed sucked the emotional impact right out of it. I mean, McQueen really sold Jeremy’s confusion and grief, but – I dunno. As I was watching Vicki’s death scene, something just felt – off-kilter. It’s like how you mentioned the overall imbalance of the episode, how there was way too much Vampires in the Attic and not nearly enough at the actual Haunted House.

Um, who said I wasn’t enjoying the show? If I wasn’t, I’d hardly be bothering to talk about it or get worked up over it in the first place. I didn’t realize that a requirement of “enjoying” the show was not talking about it, flaws and all? Must be wonderful to live in a world where unicorns crap rainbows 24-7.

It doesn’t make sense Elena telling Stefan to take Jeremy away while she stays with the dead Vicki… It’s so obvious they wanted to go for that Damon+Elena moment alone. But that just didn’t feel right to me. Still bugs me o_O

I’m confused… When Vicki says “Don’t hurt him” at the beginning of the episode, it’s about Tyler or Damon? All the reviews says she doesn’t want Tyler to get hurt but to me it was about Damon… exactly how Elena reacted when she turned into a vampire in the books

I assumed she meant don’t hurt Tyler. I think she knows well enough that Tyler doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell against Damon, so that makes much more sense to me.

Exactly! I’ve rewatched and still don’t have a clue… But I like to think it’s about Damon because it reminds me The Fury… I just loooooooved when Elena was Damon’s pupil and I was having fun to see Vicki acting the same way :)
